I didn't find this more dry or boring than a normal video. I love high level game play plus reasoning, I think it's one of the best ways to improve as a player. Listening to your thought processes and conversations about lines is very insightful. I would definitely vote for more videos like this in the future.
I love videos like this with intense deep dives and conversations between 2 high level players. I know this is probably difficult to organize on a consistent basis, but more please!!
This is what testing is for! Super cool to see how these lists come to be. It really shows that even when 20% are playing the same deck, having the best possible 75 can really make a big difference!
Yeah that complex turn seems to be one of those things the longer you try to think through it and make a plan the more wrong it becomes... sometimes thinking long does force you into thinking wrong
I think banning troll is a good idea. What other reason would you want to run troll in your deck other than to be a land/reanimation target? I feel like getting rid of that would hurt the decks that should get hurt while not affecting the decks that we dont want to get banned.
I think that if you ever have a really interesting coaching session, if the client consents, we would love to watch it. Maybe as bonus weekend drops or something? I guess you probably don’t normally film your coaching sessions. Just walking through on the lines with Poki was so interesting, and I’d love to hear how to change client’s thought processes, because I probably would think the same as them
I understand Legacy Brainstorm/Ponder decks can play one-ofs fairly easily bc you see so many different cards, but would you carry that attitude into formats without card selection like Pioneer? Do you think it’s better to run 2 copies of a tech card (say, Soul Guide Lantern) if you’re leaning on it?
@@nousernameleft999I think its very minimally correct to wait. Had he drawn Cut off Frog, he could've not gotten Edict. That would've left Sanctuary as a resource to solve another problem later and gotten one card deeper velocity. Though it's a small percentage point and still a good play to do it first. I thought the same at first. After thinking a bit more, I think 2nd main is the right play.
@@Marksmaan there's definitely a benefit to forcing the issue by playing sanctuary first main -- then they have to either stop frog or fight back on the edict and then you can respond with brainstorm and try to fight back. but i agree it does feel better (all things considered) to work through the top of library first before casting brainstorm (and this is usually the case, to cast brainstorm after going as deep as you can by other means).
@@music00sobathat's one detail I'd have to double check. The worst your record can be for omw% is 33% regardless of how you do, but I can't recall if 2-2 drop gets frozen at 50% or counts the further rounds as losses
I fully hope reanimate is banned alongside frog. Its not like reanimator cant run other 2 mana options so the deck is still viable, it just gets rid of the only 1 mana option
@@ChristianEdwards-i9rMight be a bit slow vs reanimtor. Would probably be better than Hierarch. Idk about Halfling. Would you rather a slow gy hate card or make Nadu uncounterable? I think Nadu is only deck with mana dorks. Could be wrong.
I was thinking legacy still wants one loam as well. Legacy also wants me to be 30 pounds less and able to play magic in person with my friends every Wednesday. And my dad still alive.
A while ago I heard "of course no landers are full of gas, it's seven spells" and that made me start getting excited about lands in my openers instead
Heard a similar interaction
"Man, this hand would be great with a couple more lands"
"Yeah, 9 card hands are pretty good"
If a no lander isn’t gas just turn right back around and rebuild it
And this is why we love MDFC lands.
I don't know if I'm the odd person out, but I like this kinda in-depth deck dive stuff thanks for the video

Poki plays at my LGS. Hes a really nice guy
What have you heard about this moki guy though?
The opening dialog about not being too reactionary to game/match result cannot be understated. That's a HUGE challenge to so many gameplay situations.
I've been loving these tournament testing videos lately. Keep that content up!
Appreciate including the debriefs! Great series.

Even though I'll likely never play legacy this was so fascinating to listen into. The minutia of card choices and sideboard plans is always cool
I like alternating between crazy decks and meta ones. I enjoy the tournament reports a lot too.
I love these videos, even though i'd love to see another high tide deck on this channel :)

What type of Dr are you?
@@SanDiegoDaD the right kind
I can’t wait for the tourney report!
What MU is Dismember for? Would it be a better cut than Dark Betrayal?
Magus of the Moon is an important thing to kill. Dismember specifically solves that problem while being fine against all other non-Frog creatures.

Does anyone know where to find the results of Eternal weekend? Are decks/results posted anywhere?
11:18 can't you sanctuary edict pre-combat and draw it with frog to kill the fanatic?
i guess you have brainstorm in hand so you do this all 2nd main

Is there an Eternal Glory episode dropping this week?
Yes.
Day 7: Commenting until we get the island and ponder tier lists!
Why did Brian only play 4 rounds at eternal weekend?
x-2 doesnt make it out of pools
Playing after certain ammount of loses it's basically just for fun or to give better breakers to your opponents.
He dropped at 2-2, wasn't gonna top 8
@@MaeseEidos if youre down in pools youre making your opponents breakers worse not better lol

The change to "sacrifice a creature of that player's choice" makes me think they're gonna do sacrificing of the caster's choice.

Is it just me, or does it feel like legacy still wants Deathrite Shaman? The mana dork that chops reanimator off at the knees. Lol.

I felt that abrupt decay has overperformed compared to witherbloom command as of now. Oh and not adding 1 copy of glarb in beans is a crime.
Is Glarb good in Legacy? I ran it in standard beans. It's fun but seemed kinda slow.
3 mana to not affect the board in a significant way isn't a good strategy.
