- Howdy! Lots going on in this episode detailing the Saga of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon here in the Autoedit garage...
We start out on the side yard where I install a set of 1 ¾” front coil spring spacers that I got as a hand-me-down from my buddy Ron at the local shop called Blackstone Jeep. The spacers were necessary to lift the front end of the Jeep a little since the Warn winch and Rock Crawler Bumper had really weighed it down. While I had the Wrangler on jack stands, I thought to install the Metalcloak Adjustable Bump Stop Extenders front and rear. This is a quick do it yourself job that helps tune your JK to the almost infinite amount of variables like tire size and suspension components.
Then, it’s time to head out to Hungry Valley Off Road Park for some location scouting for the web show I work on called Dirt Every Day … and a little four wheeling practice!
On the way I give a very detailed account of living with a Jeep JKU on stock suspension and 37” BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires mounted to the original OEM Rubicon style wheels. Gas mileage, driving characteristics, etc. I tell it all.
Once at the park, I get my job done and take a few minutes to do a little four wheeling and discover some changes that need to be made to the Jeep for the next time out… but I do conquer an obstacle that had beat me in years past with my Grand Cherokee WJ!
I then go home and make those changes and take the Jeep out one more time for a quick test.

Thanks for watching! - Авто/Мото
Thanks of the your impressions with the 37's! Jeep is looking great and looking forward to your future upgrades!
Thank you very much!!!
All questions ever asked on jk forum are all being answered with logical practical demonstration with so much hard work and money of one jeepster's love of jeeps, what a great public service, bravo.
Wow, that is a very much appreciated compliment! I'm hoping that people can just pick which things apply to them and go down that road.
I don't subscribe to much on RUclips, but your videos stand out with legit high production value; great editing, multiple angles, great writing and helpful info. Bit wordy and repetitive during the on-road section in my opinion, but maybe it's because I was anxious to see how the bumpstops handled off-road. Keep up the good work! My '15 Rubicon and I are along for the ride. We don't have 37s...yet.
Agreed! I drive a LR Defender, but I love these videos, because a lot of the topics are overlapping and are described here much better, also the video quality and narrative make it very approachable :)
I recommend the bump stops on ur last vide, Im glad u gave it a shot. I love the stance of that jeep man keep up the good work
I have a heavily modified jeep and I still love watching your channel, just because you describe and do things in a manner they are easy to understand and a great channel for any jeepers. I run stock 4.10 with 37s and am happy with it. So I cannot wait to get 4.88 and see the difference. 300hp on the 3.8L is a very good number to me.
And I was about to head off to bed but now I have to put off sleep so I can watch this vid! Keep up the great work man!
me too.. :)
Thanks to both of you for hanging in there and checking it out!!!
Besides, it might be just what you need to get to sleep...lol
Thank you for making this video! This has answered some questions that I've had and now I will be able to do some mods on my Jeep with confidence! Love your channel! Keep up the great work!!
I've been watching youtube videos for years and just wanted to say I just had my 13 year old show me how to subscribe to your channel because I had never done it before. Really like your videos and what your doing to the jeep. Keep it up, looks awesome.
WOW, the background around 9:40 is the most beautiful valley, mountains ever!
Nice JEEP!
I watch each of your videos more then once and I have learned a lot from you. Thank you bro
This is by far the coolest build I've ever watched I get more and more excited for what's next haha never seen someone stuff big tires under stock suspension
Thanks! Not many people are silly enough to just attack their newer Jeeps like this...but it works for me.
your videos are extremely well done and helpful. just what I was looking for, for being a newbie to all of this Jeep stuff..thanks man keep up the great work !
Great video and i love the quality! cant wait to see the next video about the JEEP!
Great vid, I really enjoy the jeep videos 👍
Subscribed! Very informative video(s). Thank you for publishing this 'Jeep series'.

That park looks awesome, even the beginners stuff
Love your Jeep. Love your videos. They are awesome.

Best videos on RUclips hands down! Can't wait for the rear bumper!
Well, I'm not sure about that...but I love the enthusiasm and appreciate that you enjoy the series!!!
I love your videos, I can't wait to get a jeep.
your videos help me out big time. thanks..
Hey keep up the great vids I love them , I had a old Honda Ridgeline that I did some off road in with 31,s no sway bars or abs and did pretty good for what it was but just bought my 17 jk 2door that I built for a customer a year ago on 35,s with a 6.5 bds long arm kit it's not a rubicon yet but will be in time it has 3.21 gears and gets 13 mpg on a great day I can't wait to get some 4.10 or 4.56s with real locking diffs , I'm new to the jeep world but haft to say I love it so much , it goes anywhere I ask it to like a good donkey, nothing stops it , I'm hooked on this jk thing .
Thanks for another great informative video!
Alright!!!
another awesome video
Happy 4th yay another video I love the jeep
Have a safe and happy 4th buddy!
Like it how your flow master sounds 👍
Me too!
Good job man! Your vids are awesome 👍👍🤘
Thank you!!!
Great video again! Wishing I had a garage - darn condo HOA living!
thanks for these great videos
Well thank you for watching and taking a minute to say cool stuff!
jason, you have done so much with the jeep. im little by little upgrading my 2016 wrangler sport.
Awesome!
Super small mod that'll make the Jeep look a bit better would be a stubby antenna, I love mine. Great videos, quality, presentation, information you've got all the bases covered, keep it up!
Ok, I'll look into that.
Awesome brother!! I'm loving the build series!! I can't afford a Jeep by any means, but I have a 95 Montero with crazy low miles I plan on dressing up for overlanding!!
Glad to hear that...anything you can do is what's important!
apperciate the feedback...great vids!
Nice, old school Monster in the shed!
Good spot!
very informative and enertaining video good job!
Why thank you very much! So glad you made it through and took a moment to say hello.
Thank you for the video it's great!
Thank you for watching and saying a good word!
Great video!
Woohoo!
"now let your junk droop"😂😂
Cool Ruby, I'm running 40's with 4.56, manual 6, love it!!
Thanks, what suspension do you have on your rig?
Rubicon 4,5 super flex, added 1,5'' pucks
I run 37's on my JK as a daily. No problems here. Plan on swapping out your drag link, tie rod, and ball joints for heavy duty components sooner than later.
Cool video! WIsh I had your skill sets! Would love to go off-roading at that park! Nothing like that around my place!
Thanks Jason for doing this. Gives me a bit of fix between DED episodes. The JK is looking nice. I thought you would need some hydraulic assist with 37s off-road...but I guess it's working just fine you without.
Thanks so much! I would appreciate the hydraulic assist...when I went to back up on the cement pipes I had to rock the Jeep to be able to turn the wheels!
thank for the upload!
Thanks for the watch!
After watching your videos, I am going to go 37's like you until I am done saving for my Evo Double D lift. I bought the Teraflex 2in front 1 in rear spacer lift, Metalcloak bumpstops, 1.75 in Spydertrax spacers and the same flowmaster exhaust. Next month I will get the 37's and the Metalcloak overlines. You should get switch rear bumpers or trim the width down so the tires wont hit then you can have more travel instead of 2 in bumps in the rear. I am running an AEV tire carrier and going to mod the Evo Facia bumper to fit. Thanks for the motivation!
I tried 37's and some guy told me that I needed to to a lot of upgrades on my Jk. Since is a 4 by 2. I really whant 37's on my jeep so bad. The thing is, First, I need to get back bumper, then upgrade the jeep until is 4 by 4. Then get anothe lift, mines has like 2 inch lift but it still rub. Lots of money just to get 37's but man, It's worth it. Good luck on your project!
That Raptor
I like how u put the tires on first and built around it that the way to go. I am currently helping a friend re gear Dana 35s with 4 10 gears so that it will help with the 35 bfg km2 we just put on a 92 yj with 5 in fabteck lift
With the binding issue, I wonder if that's why most companies offer a 2in in the front and 1in in the rear spacers for the leveling kits. I'm glad you went this route

Love your vids!
Thanks!
Great vids
Thanks!
Awesome!
can't wait to see this rig lifted, would be cool to do some mods for camping
Great Idea!!! I'll start looking for that stuff...
Love your videos! Thanks! :) please paint your front inner wheel wells! I'm OCDing over it. LOL
Great video!!! Thank you!!!
Well, thank you!
Nice raptor hehehe. Enjoyed listening to the tire opinion. Couldn't agree more. If you remove those spacers and rims and get some AEV for instance, Savegre, gas mileage and confort and equipment saving will improve.
Boy am I glad I don't live in the city :P Be happy you have the 3.6L, those of us with the 3.8L are down quite a bit on power to what you have. I run 4.56's with 33's and its about right. This weekend I went camping with the Jeep loaded down (Well, as loaded down as a 2dr can be), and just that added weight was enough to slow it down up here in the Sierras. Oh, and I have a flowmaster 40 and it drones like crazy, but this appears to be a 3.8L thing. Key to big tires and narrow wheels is to set the air pressure right. Set it a bit lower with a 12.50 on a narrow wheel, and it will be fine.
Great Video, love the extensions that you put the GoPro's on to give a better POV.
Oh, the flowmaster 40 is a chambered can...swap that thing out for the hushpower series or hp2 series, that's what I have on this thing. You'll be much happier.
Thanks!
autoedit Yeah I plan on swapping it for something else. I LOVE the sound, but hate the drone when I am at around 2000-2200rpm.
A black oak LED bar would be a great addition in my opinion 👍
Tint the windows boss. It'll give the jeep a badass look
You did just fine without a spotter, Jason. Oh, and stop making me wanna buy a jeep. Lol JK, love the vids, keep 'em coming! I ll lift my Hyundai Sonata soon haha
lol
NICE!
that looks easy af
great vid ! like your attitude mate, a before and after shot would of been nice though,
im looking forward to the next vid cheers
Thanks very much dude!
What exhaust system do you have? Sounds good !!! Love the videos keep it up . I'm in the same position as you trying to go 37 stock on a tj hope is goes as well as yours is
Hey Jason you should do a video on how you clean your jk it always seems so clean and I also have a black JKU 2014 rubicon and it is hard to keep it clean.
good video
Thanks!
I dig the videos man. Have to say that you production quality is real good. what do you use to film with?
In this video I used an OSMO with my iphone and a gopro and my old contour camera.
So the beginning "vlog type video" was the OSMO?
This has probably been asked before but can you pull out the springs and lift the axle up with tyres on to check to see if they hit the body work when working out bump stop height ?
What rpm is your rig running at 60mph in sixth gear ?
Love your jeep man. Looks amazing with the 37s
When are you going to lift that thing? Cant wait to see what lift you go for. Great vids man, jeep looks cool even w/o the lift.
Thanks a bunch!
Just a correction about what tire size fits, on a Stock JK you don't have to do anything to fit 33s
you need to come to idaho and do some of our trails..
Hey man where are you at ? Santa Clarita? You should do a little meetup or go to cars and coffee really enjoying your videos
Howdy! I am in SCV... and keep thinking about heading down to one of the cars and coffee things... maybe soon!
@@AutoEdits every Saturday between 7-9 in front of western beagle we have a good 200 car turn out just got a ran 1500 really digging your videos man hope to see you out there I’m right in Newhall
I always wondered what to set tire pressure to on aftermarket tires and wheels?? Not sure what your input is on that? Obviously it wont be close to stock tire pressure since many after market wheels and tires are different wheel/ tire combo size.
what modifications will I have to do on 33s stock? Ive only heard it rubs very lightly at full lock on the front air dam. if you would let me know that would be much appreciated
I need a 4,5 in lift and trimming my fenders to fit 33s on my XJ and I rub at times
Another great video. Before switching to a new rear bumper did that exhaust ever give you any heat damage to the stock bumper? I asked once before just checking if that ever changed.
I'm still running the stock bumper and the exhaust has been completely fine on that.
Grapevine!
sorry....I mean what size spacers did you use for the springs in the front
great series on this jk project. always looking for the next. gotta say your film work/ narrative is awesome and fun to watch. question tho, do you think you need more lift still? your set up makes me seriously want to trade my 2 door with metalcloak lift in for a 4 door like yours.
Yes, I will lift the Jeep a little and upgrade the suspension.
lift is cool
It's great seeing someone run 37s on a stock JK, but one big argument I always read about is the stock axles aren't strong enough to actually wheel it, do you off-road a decent amount with the cameras off? I assume your axles are holding up ok? Any plans in the near future to strengthen the axles? Thanks for the videos
hey jason love these videos. i have wanted a jk for a while now.should i wait a bit longer to get the pentastar over the 3.8? should i also invest in the rubicon over the sport or overland?by the way im from australia so our models may be slightly different.looking forward to more awesome videos.
Buy as much Jeep as you can afford. I found a crazy good deal on a Rubicon and am thankful for Dana 44 axles front and rear and locking differentials from the factory already done.
Have you researched which lift you want to put on your Rubicon? I just got done putting the Teraflex S/T3 suspension lift on mine this weekend. I'm incredibly happy with it!
I enjoy your videos; keep it up!
Thanks! I keep looking at the Teraflex stuff... seems very good and they make fun videos. I'm also REALLY happy with the Metalcloak products I've installed so far so they are the front runner right now. Plus, I've been fortunate enough to spend some time in the shop at Synergy Mfg. and their stuff is pretty amazing...so we'll see what ends up on here.
+autoedit I've also heard great things about Synergy. I don't have any experience with MetalCloak, but their stuff looks cool. The Teraflex system went together very well, is very good quality, and pretty cost effective (which was my deciding factor). I'll stay tuned to see what you end up going with!
My 14 2door is sitting on 18" 35's. Planning on putting 4.88 gears. Should I go ahead and add the lockers at the same time?
I would since the axles and diffs. will be out.
quick questions. Did you have to adjust or get longer brake line cables when you added the "budget spacer lift"?
love your channel. new jku owner here. I heard you mention you could for 33s on one with little work? what do you mean, what is needed to fit 33x12.5s? keep up the good work, your jeep is looking awesome !
705 mins. He said 35” you have to to trim...I was going to get 35” but I at the time , I was doing lot highway driving and I would have to get big brakes for 35”..now with 33” stock brakes are going bye bye.. had a scary trying to stop fast going down hill.. so brakes next for me .be safe and have fun off-road...street to..🖐🏻

How is it on the trails with a manual?
Any regrets?
Try your setup with a 37 that measure more true to size. A goodyear mtr/k or a nitto trail grappler in the same size measure almost a full inch taller on 9" wheels on factory wheels that are narrower they stand almost 2" taller.
Hey Jason, can you list the GoPro extension arm and mount you used for your videos? They seem super rigid and stable.
The suction cup mount is called a fat gecko and the clamp is a noga arm
This is a great channel! How are your brakes holding up to those big tires? And do you plan on upgrading to the dynatrac setup?
The brakes are holding up fine but they do require a noticeable amount of extra pressure to get the same stopping force as before... So an upgrade is definitely in order.
Hey I was wondering if the San Andreas fault line trail can be done in a 2014 overland jeep?
OMG your videos are so much fun to watch, I have learned a ton from you, I will be picking up my first jeep from a dealer tomorow its a 2011 JK and I fell inlove when I test drove it. Now looking at you putting all those goodies on yours its just intoxicating, now my wife is busting my balls, saying that I used to waste money on guns and now it will be on Jeep parts😂. Its your fault guy. Bytheway I love Pinto wich should have been named Pinta because shes a girl.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing you Jeep build progress.
Have a question about how wide is your jeep now with this 37 on? and what lift kit do you recommend to have 35 on?
2.5 for 35's anything over leaves the Jeep tires looking small id they are 35's
I'm starting to like the no spare on the back of the jk! Awesome vid what's ur next build
jcr off-road makes a good delete kit
I did order the Metalcloak Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier and will do a video on that install...of course!
+autoedit what bump stop are u using in the back. I don't think mine came with one in my rancho 2 inch lift and might need it for my 35s I want to add.
dude that thing looks killer on 37s with very little lift.
Thanks, I do like the looks too!
U mention all u need are 35" tires on stock suspension. would u recommend changing the front n rear gears or would the stock gears be ok with 35,s?
did you have to buy new axels for the front and rear ? would it be necessary on a lighter weight 35" tire ?
Those front bump stop pads look like haggard hockey pucks
I believe they are made from the same material.
this my first time watching it's a great video.. how are those tires I'm curious about how they preform
They are very good!
That's good to know I'll have to look into them
