If I ever have a garage that I can do the stuff you do, it feels great knowing I have your rolodex of videos to go through when its time to upgrade. Way to make it look easy, even when I know its not! Keep it up!👍👍👍
FYI as of August 2023 the front control arm brackets have changed such that an exhaust loop delete kit is required for the driver's side front lower control arm to have clearance to travel. Also, the bracket is a bit difficult to install on the passenger side. On one hand, you don't have to weld the crush sleeve, but you *might* have to drop the fuel tank to bolt the control arm bracket to the transmission crossmember. I didn't have to drop fuel tank, and ended up being able to crowfoot the bolt from the front and tightened with a swivel from the back on the outer crossmember bolt. All that said your video is what helped me to decide on the same lift. I have 2015 2-door Black 6MT and have the same suspension as you (except 3.5", fox shocks, and no Db3 s in back because I run 35s). If I knew how to make a good video I would share the differences. At any rate thank you so much again Jason
I appreciate you really are doing this out of your garage. You probably have a slightly better set up than the average enthusiast, having a welder and plasma cutter, but you do an excellent job making this seem attainable by anyone. Thanks for the content!
I really dig hearing this level of appreciation... means a lot because I put a lot of effort into showing that average skill and ability can overcome most obstacles with some patience and perseverance. Thank you!
Your excitement for your work is captivating! I love watching you! I love how you explain everything and make is understandable for anyone who watches! You show the whole install and I love that! You keep it light and fun! I just love watching your Jeep builds! You are my inspiration to build my Jeep one day! Thank you!
Yep, I had rubicon express metal on metal, but they had a harsh ride and the joints needed greasing often. After two years with them 3 of the joints failed and so I went with Metalcload duroflex and what a difference, a smooth ride, excellent articulation, steers perfect and no greasing!
Dude, you make every install look so easy. Since you are taking subscribers recommendations, I usually give every Metalcloak part a good coat of clear to preserve that zinc gold longer prior to installation. Thanks for taking time to do this install.
This was what I’ve been waiting for!! I have 1 more payment to go. Metalcloak is by far the best bang for your buck. 1st time ever seeing what I needed to see. My mind is made up. 4.5 lock n load all the way!🇺🇸
Howdy! I can't even explain how good this suspension system is. On the road and around town, the Jeep feels like driving a car and I haven't even begun to see how much more capable it is off road.

I immediately had to jump to your channel and see whats going on.....4 years later your Jeep has GROWN!!!!! Im also looking at doing long arms with the 37s, but at the same time!!!
That's the smart way of doing it! I've been so happy with the long arm kit so far. Even just putting several hundreds of miles around Los Angeles it has proven to be better than I could've imagined. Off road improvement was the given but how great this thing is for everything else is amazing.
Its great to watch and learn from your RUclips and watch you do it yourself is a great help to others. I have always enjoyed working on my own 88YJ and now we bought a 2017 JK Unlimited and have started on it. No lift yet. Want to make sure it still fits in standard garage.

Ok great Just installed my skid plates from metalcloak Just didn't know if it worked with the long arm kit for me in the future Good to know I can have both Thanks
It's going to be fine... I'm not worried at all and don't actually see anything needing to be trimmed but shouldn't be a big deal considering what I just went through to install the lift.
@@AutoEdits awesome, I’m also curious what you decide on a rear housing/axle combination. Sixties would be nice but I just bought new beadlocks, 5X5. I’ll definitely be following along as usual
Great video, glad I found it. I find long arms interesting but i'll be fully honest, my 2 door is just a daily in a sense. I pull it behind my RV and do beaches, fire roads, dirt trails, etc. I do not have hard core wheeling. What I am thinking is sort of getting the same result. I have geometry brackets with a 2.5" lift which ends up being 2 3/4". I want to get it above 3" so i'll keep the brackets (remember the type of wheeling I do) and just use Metalcloak's adjustable arms up front. May be overkill but gives me a lot more to dial in the pinion angle plus a heavier duty arm with a much better joints. Why I am also looking at the rear kit as well that you used. Again, probably overkill for my use but I look at it this way. I have no reason to ever get rid of the Jeep. It's not my primary vehicle and you never know what you may intend to do with it. I need it to be both urban and off-road capable but I also like to overbuild a bit as well. I plan to do more which some think is nuts for my use but I like to overbuild so 20, 30 years from now I am still driving it. Just curious have you looked at the front shock relocation brackets? Interesting idea. Lastly, how is the DB3 kit doing 3 years later?
Over-building for peace of mind is a good thing. The DB3 brackets are really amazing and I'm still very happy with them. I might try their long arm kit just because I like the looks of them but the anti-squat and highway manners of the DB3 brackets are better. Keep in mind the DB3 is mostly designed for lifts of 3" or more.
@@AutoEdits that should be perfect. I want to get my lift right at 3.5” if I can. For me that will be about the perfect height. It will also allow me to flip my drag link and should keep a good height for both highway and off road capability and manners. I am tempted by the long arms. Have to see which way I go.
@@jeffdurling100 I agree with your build philosophy. 3.5 is perfect to achieve the "flip" and yet gain excellent clearance while still keeping the handling great.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻, I have be running the 2.5 Metalcloak Game changer lift on a 2012 2dr JKR for the last 8 yrs and love it! Loading it down with overland "gear" I had to put new 4.5 springs in the back where the majority of the load was and 3.5 in the front to level it out . So this was pretty interesting!

bolt on long arm kit?! YES PLEASE!!! Thanks for all the great videos. It's a real moral dilemma. :))
HA! This is a funny dilemma... I'm just happy and thankful to be able to create the content at this point and interactions like this are what it's all about. Thanks for being here!
You can't make comparisons to Ian's rig. He ran a TJ for TTS. Radius arms perform well on the smaller wheelbase but the great thing about the JKU is that you have the wheelbase and geometry to run a true long arm kit without having to deal with the cons of a radius arm & drop brackets.
Your a mad man ha ha! In your video looked like the rear driver brake line was close to your tire, I'm sure your on it! Just In case you didn't see it I threw it out there...I got to say I learn some thing new in every video thank you so much for that happy holidays man!
I'm Stoked that your stoked. Although personally, not a fan of radius arms or drop brackets. Subjected to binding. How is a kit comprised of antiquated tech supposed to be Metalcloak's flagship suspension? There's a reason why all the other Premium suspension manufacturers don't produce radius arms for JKs...Rock Krawler, EVO, Icon, Teraflex. Now look at the ones that do...Rough Country, Rusty's. Just saying.
I don't agree with this at all but totally appreciate your opinion. This offers amazing performance for the relative ease of installation. What bind are you even talking about???? With the lock n load unlocked it offers an amazing amount of flex. Is there better, absolutely... at this easy level of install in my garage... no way!
@@AutoEdits I wouldn't even say better honestly. If perhaps your looking at max an inch more of travel on a 4 link vs this, I'd say ok but as a whole metalcloak with their shocks and coil combo then I'd say Metalcloak is simply better in almost every way. Now fyi this isn't their flagship by any means so if we are to compare 4 link long arm MC with 6pac shocks to 4 link long arm from any other manufacturer with let's say falcon shocks(or fox) I'd still say that no one compares. The only people I think that can gets close is Teraflex but imo it's all about ride. MC offers best flex, best ride, easiest install, and comparable pricing. All in all MC all the way in terms of final destination lifts. And that's not to say you can't get by with other cheaper lifts or anything like that and I am sure you can get close for cheaper but MC has a good thing that is simply *the best*
@@AutoEdits you are as anal as I am about painting stuff before installing over it and making sure holes are drilled perfectly... I get anxiety when I watch people install parts over dried up mud or paint stuff without cleaning it with thinner first and priming it. Are you a virgo too? Love the direction your Jeep has taken and look forward to that other build you mentioned.
Love the progress man! I was just wondering what length you started at on your rear arms with the DB3 brackets...I am really thinking about doing this.
I have the rough country long arm kit 4 inch lift and it's garbage. I cut all the lower control arm pockets already so installing this kit should be easier...🥵....

Older video but I was wondering if you wish you went with MC's long arm rear or are you still happy with the DB3 brackets? I'm at that cross-roads now. Thanks so much for your how-to videos, I refer back to them again and again!
The DB3 is such a simple install and offer so much improvement for over the road driving that it's easy to say I'm still VERY happy with that choice. If I were building it again, I would choose the long arm only because it is overall the right answer but something dramatic would have to change in how often I do hard wheeling to justify making the change at this point. Hope that helps.
This video inspired me to buy my own 3.5 inch lift kit for my JLURD. What plasma cutter would you recommend for cutting off the brackets? I’m a software engineer, not a mechanic, lol. That saying, break it down Barney style for me

It's a real moral dilemma. :))
HA! This is a funny dilemma... I'm just happy and thankful to be able to create the content at this point and interactions like this are what it's all about.
Thanks for being here!
Great video as always!!!! The jk looks great and it sounds like metal cloak has it pretty dialed 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm beyond impressed so far... love that feeling when it's better than expected!
Man... I just love your videos! Thanks!😃💙💙👊🏾
Glad you like them! Thanks so much for being here!
I did.
Great video as usual - you made install look easy - love metal cloak products!! Looking forward to Dana-60 install.
Thanks 👍
Your a mad man ha ha! In your video looked like the rear driver brake line was close to your tire, I'm sure your on it! Just In case you didn't see it I threw it out there...I got to say I learn some thing new in every video thank you so much for that happy holidays man!
I appreciate the spot! thanks so much and have a safe and happy holiday as well!
Thanks for this!
Super clean install! Now come to San Antonio and help with my build :)
Maybe one day!
@1:50 that's the control arms that make that "ping".... (I thought it was my doorbell).
LOL
@@AutoEdits you are as anal as I am about painting stuff before installing over it and making sure holes are drilled perfectly... I get anxiety when I watch people install parts over dried up mud or paint stuff without cleaning it with thinner first and priming it. Are you a virgo too? Love the direction your Jeep has taken and look forward to that other build you mentioned.
Very well done content sir!!!! Good looking Jeep also.
Much appreciated!
Man oh man, your jeep is quickly becoming my favourite out there! Whatcha doing with those "old" mid arms? 👀
LOL! I'm going to see what I need for my buddies jeep and then figure out what to do with them!
@@AutoEdits sounds good brother! Can wait to see that new build
Love the progress man! I was just wondering what length you started at on your rear arms with the DB3 brackets...I am really thinking about doing this.
20" on the lower and 17.5" on the upper but just installed this on my buddies jeep and had to tweak it a little.
Looks great!! You did a great job
Thank you!! 😊
I pressed like so fast after that joke at the beginning 😂😂😂
Thank you so much... believe it or not... someone was already offended by that.
@@AutoEdits people.. Pffft
I have the rough country long arm kit 4 inch lift and it's garbage. I cut all the lower control arm pockets already so installing this kit should be easier...🥵....
Looks great! Is it just me or are the rear brake lines making me really nervous? They look awe full close to rubbing those rear tires!
Thanks... that camera angle did make them look very exposed! I will put a little effort into them!
Anyone else want this guy as there best friend ? I sure do
I just want this guy on my own channel! Teach me his ways!
@@4WDTrek great little channel brother. I watched your walker valley video, I’ll be back for more in a bit. Your production quality is really good on the video.
@@tuggerthegriz5484 Thank you! I am still in the learning process on it all, so I appreciate the compliment!
@@4WDTrek yeah the voice overs sound weird but the rest was beautifully done. Keep killing it brother and I am sure it will all come together for you.
@@tuggerthegriz5484 thanks! I'm trying to be better at remembering to talk while on the trail. Its hard to remember. Voice overs are definitely a learning curve.
Thank you!
Great video Jason!! Can I be cheeky and see if I could blag an Auto Edits sticker for my car? Im a big fan and this gal loves your upgrades and Pinto. You aint too bad yourself! love Joanne x
Thanks so much!!! I don't have any stickers yet... guess I should make some!!! You are the best! Pats for Pinto specially from you!
Excellent beautiful really nice and very clean job well done Thanks.
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice work bud. I got some new trails in mind for that thing now! And there’s tacos too
Oh heck yeah dude! I keep watching those dates you are posting waiting to pounce! 😂
Awesome video jason.
Thanks 👍
SWEET I love this build
Thanks!
Great video Jason, I got to get a pair of long arms for my keep now, damn it more $$$$
Ha! They are pretty dang good... I'm doing another set on my friends Jeep now!
love the vids! keep'em coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Can you disco your swaybar? That headtoss offroad would drive me crazy. If you don't have a rubi an anti-rock front would def be in order.
This is a rubicon with a e-disco ... I just have a very wabbly head. It was very very comfy from the drivers seat.
Don’t forget about to bump stops! They may have changed a little bit. Might need to add an inch or so more.
Good call... I'll check all that when I get up to the off road park for testing!
This video inspired me to buy my own 3.5 inch lift kit for my JLURD. What plasma cutter would you recommend for cutting off the brackets? I’m a software engineer, not a mechanic, lol. That saying, break it down Barney style for me
Any would work, they are very affordable at any retailer like harbor freight.
Can you do a in detail review of the JW Speaker headlights and the trail 6 lights, with a review in the dark. Thanks
Did you see this one yet ruclips.net/video/qwHOvTxjqWQ/видео.html
@@AutoEdits yes I have just wanting a review after several months of ownership, and a better video in the dark, showing the brightness in all levels and the trail 6 lights.
