Be grateful for what you guys got cause some of us don’t get anything at all for the franchises we love
@@trent.vs.robots No, because Bethesda released an unusable broken update for Fallout 4 and Fallout London runs on Fallout 4. I personally don't know when they will release it, it's not in sight yet. It was supposed to be out on April 23, 2024. They will definitely release it, but because of this update, even they probably don't know when and if you ask me, if it will interfere with Bethesda's business, then Bethesda will release broken updates until they get tired of it.
I don't think asking for less than a 15 year turn around on these franchises is "rushing" them. I do agree with Todd about remakes, I definitely appreciate older games for what they were. Now if fallout 3 got a remake, it would definitely make more sense because it would be the same style of game just with a newer version of the engine and graphics.
I'd be up for if they did a "Both". Imagine if they went crazy, and released a Fallout 1 and 2 that's in the same style as the original, but remastered with cleaned up audio and maybe higher resolution, redrawn art in the same style. And they then PAIRED that with a new version in the same package that's the same content, but in the Fallout 3/NV/4 style. I doubt it'd ever happen, but that's the best way they could do it IMO.
@@TeronRedoran that would be awesome, on the topic of remakes they should also remake fallout nv as the devs planned it before being rushed. cause from what i've heard about it, the devs weren't able to add alot of things they wanted to because of time constraints.
They gave you 76 right after Fallout 4, so franshice wise, Fallout do have to wait waaaay shorter than 15 years. Now look at us TES fan.. like, yeah, there's ESO but that doesn't even made by Bethesda
exactly. Its shameful. Why cant they have 3 studios working on each franchise with a release cadence of one new game every 2 years but each individual franchise gets 6 years of dev time??? I really hope microsoft kicks some hustle into them. This strategy of "the whole team will work on one game at a time for 6 years or more" is insane.
Todd would never say it has, but 76 has absolutely delayed future Fallout games. He says "its one of our most played games, we can do free updates which everyone loves with the atomic shop generating revenue" and I hear "why would we make a game where you only pay once, when we can make less content for an online game where people pay larger amounts all the time". I don't dislike 76 but that's the gist of things.
That’s the endgame and end goal For all these triple A companies they just want to make live service PVP slop that does nothing but generate revenue with little to no work. Just look at halo infinite the entire fanbase was begging for campaign DLC but 343 couldn’t be bothered and just focused entirely on the PVP MTX slop
Fallout 76 is developed by Bethesda Austin. It has its own director. Todd only acts as the big boss for that studio to keep Fallout going in the way he wants. So the team of maryland which is the studio behind Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Starfield are working on Elder scrolls 6 Fallout 5 pre production and Starfield DLC.. But then again they have over 200 more people since Fallout 4 as well. and have 4 Studios. They have the Bethesda Montreal which is the one actually developing Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Starfield. Then you have Bethesda Austing who assisted ID software with multiplayer Doom 2016 and the ones who made Fallout 76 and still work on it. And then you have 2 smaller subsidairy studios usually used to work for extra content afterwards like DLC or Updates which is Bethesda Washington DC and Bethesda Dallas So no Fallout 5 and ES6 are doing just fine
@@alien0gamer139 I mean, saying they had been working on starfield for 10 years was a blatant lie, saying starfield would be the elder scrolls of the space is also a lie. that game took like 2 years to develop at most
When they announced ES6 my daughter was a newborn. She is now in 1st grade. That's how much change and growth has happened outside of their lackluster production schedule. Their current projects are hindering their future projects. It's so frustrating.
it sounds more like bethesda are trying to incentivize more players to embrace the online only games, but as a fallout or elder scrolls fan, i really don't like the online multiplayer stuff which is why i stay in my lane of only playing both skyrim and FO4, i won't touch ESO or FO76, online only games are just not my thing. so for me, i personally look forward to more single player games without all the attached nonsense.
@@Screeno1993 it hasnt at all its being worked on by a completely different part bethesda and a different studio that doesnt make games like fallout 4 and starfield
At this point I just want... -Fallout 4 to be fixed, since the Next Gen update basically broke so much -Fallout New Vegas to get a 64-bit executable. It doesn't need to be a remake. Just polish up the textures for 4K or whatever and give us a 64-bit executable and call it a remaster, I'll buy it again just to have New Vegas without the god awful memory constraints.
This. And same with all older titles. Including FO:1 and FO:2. -Give proper modern monitor support (I’ve come to regret the 21:9 monitor). -Untie the physics engine to frame rate. -Upscale base low res textures. -Maybe a bump in LOD in 3D titles.
" We should not rush fallout 5" Todd... it's been almost 10years ! Also, medium sized DLCs are most of the time around 20-30$, if you want to sell the new guild in kit, that's ok, but be sure the total doesn't exceede the price of a DLC...
He needs to loosen his grip a little and let more teams work independently. The fact they hadn't even started ES6 until after starfield was released is insanity. FO5 is probably a fart in the wind right now.
Skyrim took 6 years after Oblivion. Fallout 3 to 4 took about 7 all thing considered. With how tech is now, I'd be surprised if someone took 3 years from start to finish.
@@andredulac4456 yes, but we’ve had another full fallout game in that time, it’s called Fallout 76, released in 2018. So it’s been 6 years since a Fallout game.
Todd using F76 as the example of "There IS a fallout game, and it's getting updated consistently!" Just goes to show how much of an actual disconnect between him and the fans there really is. You know what we mean, Todd. A single player fallout experience with storytelling elements that F76 has not provided since launch.
I don't think Todd is just saying that while you wait for a new singleplayer Fallout, you could try Fallout to see if it scratches that itch for new Fallput content.

That statement about past belief that Microsoft buying Zenimax giving Bethesda more creative freedom is indeed outdated, proven by them killing Tango Gameworks, which produced an award-winning game. If success cannot guarantee a studio's survival anymore, then nothing does.
@@eyzmin it's also a dev problem. i like ghostwire tokyo, but it wasn't some masterpiece, it is fairly flawed especially in how repetitive and empty it felt at launch so i totally get why it didn't do great sales wise

They gotta figure something out with Fallout. They really want people to wait 10-15 years between major “off-line or single player and co op fully fleshed out game ( such as Fallout 3 & 4) 76 is better than it was but it’s a game as service not a traditional Fallout title. I know they need to give Elder Scrolls attention and now they added Starfield in the mix. They have to start outsourcing to other studios.
Fallout 76 is no GTA Online and it’s now been 11 years since the last core GTA game released. With Fallout Especially after they put out the show which did gangbusters fans want more Fallout. And they’re stupid. They’re leaving a lot of money on the table if they put out a game and then wait 15 years so let’s say you’re 15 years old when you play fallout 4 and by the time Fallout 5 comes out you’re over 30 years old I mean, I’d still play it I am over 30 and I still play games but not everybody’s like that. If they want to cash in on this hype they better strike while the irons hot
I don't agree with the outsourcing the games to other studios, Bethesda might've failed us lately on initial releases but they do still care alot about what they do and they do try to make-up for their shortcomings in the long run. Let them cook, I'd rather wait for another 5-10 years to get an mainline entry from them and made by them than have someone who can't capture the essence of a Bethesda game and potentially ruin a franchise most of us are in love with. Let them cook, let them fail, they'll fix it, you can count on that. Even if it will be a bit more pricey for us, the players. You can't count on new guys to do the same. The people you could count on doing the same aren't working together anymore or wouldn't take an offer so don't rush things.
The biggest takeway for me was that the Elder Scrolls 6 foundation is built on the Starfield foundation, I don't know if people remember how bad the NPCs, animations and facial features of Starfield are (at least on release)
Yea, Bethesda games are horrible with load screens. And starfield technology is still not good compared to single player games for the same release time
It's frustrating that Bethesda keeps saying, "well yeah, we do have Elder Scrolls and Fallout right now!" And then they point to Fallout 76 and ESO. I hate MMOs. Give me single player, flagship title, and without a fifteen year gap for Christ's sake. I was in middle school when Skyrim released, and now I've completed my second year *of teaching.*
unfortunately, this interview did reveal Todds attitude towards critique and feedback, which could be summarized as "yes, we do hear what you have to say, but we will continue doing things our way, staying inconsistent, yet predictably low in quality to appease as many positive feedback givers as possible."
5:35 Okay but, Fallout 5 could be as far as 10 years away right now. By that time 76 would have been out for 16 years. Not that it doesn't happen, but that is an insanely long time to be actively developing free updates for a game. So I wonder, does Todd actually expect to still be working on 76 in 10 years, or does he know there will be a new "classically singleplayer" Fallout coming sooner than that?
Maybe a bad take, but look at Siege, it’s at year 9. I’m not saying there won’t be a fallout by then, but I don’t think we will even get another online fallout for a very long time, let alone a fallout single player. It may be possible, but I think it would be dead by that time
Love how matty did not shy away from the uncomfortable questions. He asked everything i would have if i were locked in a room alone with todd Howard Did i care for all the answers..not necessarily.. but at least matty put the ball in his court
9:00 “ Look at Skyrim we’re still updating them and look at all the little creations and mods” yeah that you keep breaking with every update. No one asked for in fact actively usually ask you NOT to do!
Starfield was great and still is great. The hate-train was organized. I watched the hate train organizing on Steam in teh discussion section of Starfield long before release. And 95% of the hate reviews are incoherent rambling. and the hate reviews always come when new Starfield news appear. People are calling it the Starfield Derangement Syndrome. Literally until today there are haters in the Starfield Fan groups on facebook only to spread hate and negativity and try to ruin people's enjoyment of the game. more than 9 months after launch. Those people will never get over it and search for reasons to review-bomb the game. Starfield is literally my most-played game of 2023 and 2024 (so far. And the only game I play since Sep 1st.)
@@OrkDiktator I agree the hate train is blown up, but I woulnd't say its "great". Its "really good" to me. The gameplay and the world is still a really good sandbox to play around in. @@Notpoop906 they said they were in pre development, that’s concept art and writing etc (not exactly sure how pre production goes on at Bethesda) and around 8 months ago Bethesda got into full production, the games take games take 4 years to make, so 2028. I fully agree it was stupid to launch a teaser so long ago, and so does Todd.
I was 9 years old when Skyrim came out, and I distinctly remember some of my friends in the fourth grade discussing it (their parents were more lenient than mine.) I was 15 when I first played Skyrim when I got it on the switch, and 16 when they announced elder scrolls 6. I’m now 22, have finished high school, worked 3 different jobs, and attended two different colleges. I never would’ve imagined it would take this long.
I doubt it will have army sized battles but it is important to notice that with Starfield they upgraded crowd density with more random NPCs, so I'm guessing they're going to carry over that work into elder scrolls
@@irecordwithaphone1856 They're bringing the technology full circle. They had this with Daggerfall because a pixelated game engine easily could do it. They couldn't in newer titles because the technology in the game engine would have been overtaxed. Starfield showed (at least a little) they could bring it back a little bit.
Yeah I agree with Todd there. I don't want a spin off dark brotherhood game. I want to be a Vampire, a warlord that makes his own decisions and carves his own destiny in the world of elder scrolls. Not some assassin that worships a crusty corpse
I think the spin off should be DLC, like, you want to be a pirate the the elder scrolls universe ? take your main character, build a boat and raid the seas
agreed, choice is the spice of life or shall i say the spice of their games, which is why it's infinitely easier to play skyrim over FO4 because you aren't one set protagonist, however i suppose you kind of are in skyrim being the dragonborn, but at least you have a choice to either continue that content or not. so you could be a vampire werewolf, thief, assassin, warlock, priest, vigilant of stendar, mercenary, like the choices are near endless, and the modding scene offers even more choices in this idea. recently i just tried a mod that turns the player into a vampire in FO4, and it was ok, the mod author found a way to write in the vampire story in the existing FO4 story, but i think his mod works much better in skyrim simply because that game was meant to have all of these things, FO4 was specific to that games story, so it was kind of hard to implement the idea of vampirism in the mod, but he pulled it off in a somewhat good degree. but yeah, his skyrim version of the same kind of mod is so much better.
The best part about elder scrolls games is that a longer questline and faction and set of systems within the faction all set within a main game could satisfy that desire
@@andredulac4456Hell nah. The disconnect between Fallout 4 and its DLC was bad enough. Imagine if there was ANOTHER DLC for F4 where Nate or Nora decides to trek to Nevada and gets shot in the head, STILL not bothering to look for their kid. Hey juicehead! Thanks for liking my tweet I sent you with my huge lone survivor statute. I just love sharing my fallout collection with everyone. Love your content man!
I disagree with the constant updates part. That just sounds like live service to me. If you make a great game it should be good day one and shouldn’t need constant service. A few dlc or bug fixes are fine but I don’t want constant updates for a game that’s probably already 200 gb
It shows that Bethesda is more concerned with their bottom line than putting out a definitive product by how much they have prioritized live action MMO’s over the past decade (76 & ESO) instead of the single player experience
If they were their harshest critics, you'd think they'd be able to find a couple of decent writers. It is impressive how they spent years on a space game and made it bland as milk toast
They gotta have the dude that wrote Far Harbor handle their storylines from now on. In terms of narrative, that DLC far exceeded anything Bethesda has ever done.
I think its true that if a single player Fallout comes out 76 wouldnt be as affected as one would think. While it is likely the game will take a hit if Fallout 5 or whatever comes out, and likely many of us on 76 will play it the game will not just be abandoned. Cuz like single player games often just have so much content even with DLC and stuff. Sure 76 does have things that you run out of doing eventually. But there people with levels in the 1000s playing, so theres clearly soething to do.
i think the demographic fits some people, for myself i like the single player fallout experience more, but that's just me, i tried ESO and didn't like it, i wanted to play single player and so i went back to skyrim and it's the same with fallout. i personally can't get into the online stuff, it's just not my kind of fun. but i could see the demographics who enjoy that being sort of separate from the ones who like the single player games, but we really need another single player fallout game in my opinion.

@@randomsmile9064 it's doing well because of a few things, so the update to FO4 screwed a lot of potential players on PC and the reason why people are now flocking to Fallout in general is because of the popularity of the tv series but also because it's the newest game that has been improved singnificantly over the last was it 6 years? i can't remember how old it is. FO4 probably would have maintained it's popularity if the update didn't screw things up, but then again, i do hear it's doing better for console users so not all is bad, it's just it seems bethesda didn't really test out their update enough to see if it would work on all pc builds, which is unfortunate. you can still play FO4 on PC, but you have to roll back the game to the previous version, before bethesda screwed up the game in the state they left it in now. i assume it will get fixed, but bethesda drags their asses with things like this, so i don't expect it to be fixed for a while from now, the least time my guess will be 6 months from now, but the longest i would say a year, however the same thing happened with people who played skyrim when it was upgraded from special edition to Anniversary edition, some folks stayed on SE for over 5 years simply because the vast majority of modders weren't willing to update their mods so people stayed on the old version for years and years longer.
When he said its ok for people to miss things i get it. BUT every one is crying for either a fallout or elder scrolls mainline single player we are on 13 years since skyrim and nearly 10 years since fallout 4 and at this rate I'm tired of watching announcement and announcement coming from them for it to be a mobile game or more content for 76 or ESO and i don't get why single player games and the online games cant run together. and when a mod team trys breathing life into these games like fallout london or skyblivion they get fucked over.
Paid mods are only bad when their price exceeds their value. This is the difference between micro-transactions and DLC. I hold mods to the same standards as the game itself, sometimes even higher, so I'd expect the mod to be priced at what it's worth. I'm sure some of these mod authors are overpricing because Bethesda takes such a huge cut, which I do think is absurd, as Bethesda should take a max of 30% if even that. I also think that, if a mod author releases a mod for free, there should be a donation option to continue to incentivize free mods. For an example of pricing, I would look at Skyrim (prior to Legendary Edition). $5 might've seen like a micro-transaction, but it gave a whole custom house building system with a bunch of cool little features, among of which was adopting and marrying. I expect $5 mods to at least give that much content. I wouldn't say Hearthfire was a huge DLC, nor do I think it would've been all that difficult to make, but I felt that it was worth the $5. Then you look at $20 and you could get either the Dawnguard DLC or the Dragonborn DLC. The Dawnguard DLC may have only added one quest-line, but it also added the Vampire Lord as a whole new transformation that also included perks. It fleshed out the vampire system and of course added new spells and items and more. Dragonborn added a whole new island as a location with a bunch of new quests, items, lore, and more. I think most can agree that Dawnguard was the bigger and better DLC, but both were still worth the price. Almost forgot to mention that Dawnguard did add a few new connected locations, but not as big as the island from Dragonborn. So, once again, I would have no issue spending $5-20 on a mod if the value matched similarly priced DLC. Anything less than $5 (in value), except being free obviously, is the micro-transaction range and just isn't where I think modding should go.
I dont want him to rush anything, I would just like to know that they are working on it and maybe sneak peak where the development is at? I mean 10 years after skyrim, they still didnt start working on elderscrolls 6, there is a difference in "taking your time" and straight up not working on it.
I think everyone seems to have forgot that Todd said himself that he was ready to “move on” from fallout. In other words, he probably isn’t “rushing it” simply because he doesn’t wanna work on it. Atleast not at the front of the pipe line. He literally just said it’s good for people to miss it
He’s right we want a main line game. But we also want a game in general. But we’ve been waiting almost a decade for another mainline game so we’ll take anything at this point
I think the interview was fair and even a bit toygh on Todd. Im sure the Q's were pre-approved so he chose to have this conversation directly and with the community. Also his answer about F1 /F2 remasters really felt OG. Im impressed.
So glad they are doing a new planet dlc each year for Starfield. Well for at least 2 years probably. Great idea!! Now they just gotta fix exploration by the fall.
What I heard was "It's more profitable to forget single player Fallout (But we will still sell the old games!) and until that craters from oversaturation of the market, don't hold your breath." Todd, you went full corporate. I'll remember the Todd who was.
I'm going to be honest. I don't see a lack of Bethesda involvement as being a bad thing. I love their games, but after Starfield and the whole premium mods thing, maybe someone else should give Fallout a crack.
It’s funny because I’ve never thought about that with the vulture mission. They have been doing that for years, they did the same in Skyrim where they would sell a weapon for 300 credits and there would be a quest added to get that weapon…
I'm really happy to hear we will probably be getting real DLC for starfield past shattered space. I am not a fan of mods and enjoy official content a lot more
@@TheNightman.Dude no it’s not. People are still playing it and Bethesda is still going to give bug fixes and DLC in the future. An example of a dead game is anthem
bro, i've been saying what todd said about fallout 5 and 76 not cannibalizing one another, especially when people'd go "oh they're never making fallout 5 because they're milking fallout first subscriptions, like dawg it does not make them enough to warrant the shelving of FO5
He says they're still supporting Skyrim but how? Creation Club? Thats not what anyone wanted. Do you remember when everyone was exited for creation club thinking we'd be getting dlc sized mods? To date there has not been an update to skyrim worth installing 1.5.97 being the best version is nothing but sad
I will say that I do agree with the idea that it's good for people to miss things a little. A bit of a gap between Bethesda games does make one's anticipation all the higher. Now I do admit that does also create a rod for their own back admittedly so there is that.
This.! Especially considering a remaster of Fallout 3 or New Vegas would essentially mean remaking the full game from scratch on updated systems. All they would have pre-made would be audio files and how the story is meant to unfold. Microsoft should contract any remasters to other developers, and leave bethesda to keep creating brand new games... that way if the remaster doesn't turn out great, Bethesda can't really be blamed.
It's going to be a pointless experience in a dead game that died less than a year after full release. Bland, grey boring safe sterilised paste that flopped hardcore
@@irecordwithaphone1856he's not entirely wrong, but I did enjoy Starfield at times, it's got potential, needs to be polished and fleshed out a bit more is all.
One thing i wish BGS would do is update the ship system in starfield to be something more similar to elite dangerous. Instead of loading screens, do cutscenes.
If they didn’t waste all that time on Starfield we would have had a new elder scrolls or fallout game by now. And they would have actually been fun games to play!
Saying that he doesn't want to remake Fallout 1 and 2 because he doesn't like to mess with how old games work is ironic coming from the guy that would sell you "Skyrim Premim Deluxe 3000 Edition: now it can run even on your microwave oven" if he could.
You do know that it isn’t Todd deciding to do remasters right? That’s corporate that is looking at financial gain? The same way he didn’t have much involvement in Fallout 76’s development, but is the one who did the presentation.
The only good news for Elder Scrolls fans on this super long wait that feels like it’s taking a lifetime…at least games like BG3 came out and probably taught Bethesda a lot of what their games need going forward. Great job for matty. I wish he could have pushed todd a little bit more. Or at least offline 1v1. Starfield was handled way way way too softly. I genuinely dont believe that they "hear the feedback" and that they're "their own harshest critics". Im genuinely nervous for Elder Scrolls 6.
Love how todd is using the fallout tv show now to try and bolster bethesda's output. He himself has said it wasnt a decision from bethesda to pursue a tv show, but that they were approached for it. Knowing that, you cant just say "hey well we're taking 30 years to make a new game, but you've got the tv show to fill that space". No todd, thats not how this works.
It was a pretty good interview not gonna lie. I actually liked most of his answers and most of Matty's questions. Honestly the full interview is worth watching
Great analysis/breakdown, i watched the full interview & still learned more from the insights given here. I am low key excited for ES6 but i don't care how long it takes. Starfield is fast becoming a really great game, i think SS is going to be great. People need to accept that these things take time. Have patience!

Bethesda is not a small company anymore and theyre only getting bigger across the board so theres no excuse for these huge gaps in between games. Theyve literally had to outsource theyre properties to other studios before because they KNEW itd take longer for a new fallout, hence we got fallout NV and it did great. It makes zero sense why they cant do this again, not necessarily with the same company that being obsidian though thatd be ideal. And theres also stuff like remasters which could easily be done in 1-2 yrs because the game is already complete in terms of story and dlc,why cant we get a fallout 3 or oblivion remake? Its absurd. Todd howard is known for just dancing around questions and i expected no less in this interview. Hes basically just confirming what we already know-milk skyirm, fix starfield, add more stuff to 76. Dude. I DONT PLAY 76. I want to play a new SINGLE PLAYER fallout, yknow the way they started. I also want a new elder scrolls, its been goin on 14 YRS,thats insane. Something needs to change.

They will definitely release it, but because of this update, even they probably don't know when and if you ask me, if it will interfere with Bethesda's business, then Bethesda will release broken updates until they get tired of it.

I do agree with Todd about remakes, I definitely appreciate older games for what they were. Now if fallout 3 got a remake, it would definitely make more sense because it would be the same style of game just with a newer version of the engine and graphics.
Yeah they'll have 5 years full production for each, they have no excuse to take more then five years for each game
@@TeronRedoran that would be awesome, on the topic of remakes they should also remake fallout nv as the devs planned it before being rushed. cause from what i've heard about it, the devs weren't able to add alot of things they wanted to because of time constraints.

That’s the endgame and end goal
For all these triple A companies they just want to make live service PVP slop that does nothing but generate revenue with little to no work.
And then you have 2 smaller subsidairy studios usually used to work for extra content afterwards like DLC or Updates which is Bethesda Washington DC and Bethesda Dallas

Sure 76 does have things that you run out of doing eventually. it's doing well because of a few things, so the update to FO4 screwed a lot of potential players on PC and the reason why people are now flocking to Fallout in general is because of the popularity of the tv series but also because it's the newest game that has been improved singnificantly over the last was it 6 years? i can't remember how old it is.
FO4 probably would have maintained it's popularity if the update didn't screw things up, but then again, i do hear it's doing better for console users so not all is bad, it's just it seems bethesda didn't really test out their update enough to see if it would work on all pc builds, which is unfortunate.
you can still play FO4 on PC, but you have to roll back the game to the previous version, before bethesda screwed up the game in the state they left it in now.
i assume it will get fixed, but bethesda drags their asses with things like this, so i don't expect it to be fixed for a while from now, the least time my guess will be 6 months from now, but the longest i would say a year, however the same thing happened with people who played skyrim when it was upgraded from special edition to Anniversary edition, some folks stayed on SE for over 5 years simply because the vast majority of modders weren't willing to update their mods so people stayed on the old version for years and years longer.

as long as it loads up and runs well? so when will the pc ports of 3 and new vegas get fixed?
I was in kindergarten when Skyrim came out and have been playing it ever since. Now I'm going into college and still waiting for TES 6
Jesus Christ, your first and only ES game was Skyrim.....
@@roxbox6721 yeah, I've played the other games but I've been waiting for TES 6 since the literal beginning of my memories
My dude has not watched the interview
I dont want him to rush anything, I would just like to know that they are working on it and maybe sneak peak where the development is at? I mean 10 years after skyrim, they still didnt start working on elderscrolls 6, there is a difference in "taking your time" and straight up not working on it.
I think everyone seems to have forgot that Todd said himself that he was ready to “move on” from fallout.
In other words, he probably isn’t “rushing it” simply because he doesn’t wanna work on it. Atleast not at the front of the pipe line. He literally just said it’s good for people to miss it
He could just leave the franchise to Obsidian...
@@ElFacko They got closed right?
@@janremongalura5713 Nope, they are making Avowed right now
He’s right we want a main line game.
What I heard was "It's more profitable to forget single player Fallout (But we will still sell the old games!) and until that craters from oversaturation of the market, don't hold your breath."
Todd, you went full corporate. I'll remember the Todd who was.
I'm going to be honest. I don't see a lack of Bethesda involvement as being a bad thing. I love their games, but after Starfield and the whole premium mods thing, maybe someone else should give Fallout a crack.
still no fallout 3 remaster
Mods are the remaster
only thing i want
It’s funny because I’ve never thought about that with the vulture mission. They have been doing that for years, they did the same in Skyrim where they would sell a weapon for 300 credits and there would be a quest added to get that weapon…
I'm really happy to hear we will probably be getting real DLC for starfield past shattered space. I am not a fan of mods and enjoy official content a lot more

bro, i've been saying what todd said about fallout 5 and 76 not cannibalizing one another, especially when people'd go "oh they're never making fallout 5 because they're milking fallout first subscriptions, like dawg it does not make them enough to warrant the shelving of FO5
i don’t want to wait until my second childhood to play the next fallout game
Why is it so hard to just say "yes we are working on remasters" or "no we are not doing this"? Why should people guess and hope? 8:06
Because his bosses probably don’t allow him to make those statements.
That’s called corporate NDA’s
He says they're still supporting Skyrim but how? Creation Club?
Thats not what anyone wanted. Do you remember when everyone was exited for creation club thinking we'd be getting dlc sized mods?
To date there has not been an update to skyrim worth installing 1.5.97 being the best version is nothing but sad
@@ArchiesShorts am I wrong?
Keep your negativity to yourself
I will say that I do agree with the idea that it's good for people to miss things a little. A bit of a gap between Bethesda games does make one's anticipation all the higher. Now I do admit that does also create a rod for their own back admittedly so there is that.
Imagine the motivation remastering games so that people can complain about it.
This.! Especially considering a remaster of Fallout 3 or New Vegas would essentially mean remaking the full game from scratch on updated systems. All they would have pre-made would be audio files and how the story is meant to unfold.
Microsoft should contract any remasters to other developers, and leave bethesda to keep creating brand new games... that way if the remaster doesn't turn out great, Bethesda can't really be blamed.
there no rush to remaster. Keep creating good stories and games and we will never be short of games we want to play
I love that shattered space is going to be a traditional experience
It's going to be a pointless experience in a dead game that died less than a year after full release. Bland, grey boring safe sterilised paste that flopped hardcore

nobody wants paid mods we want our games to work and for bethesda to write better stories and characters than they have in the past 10 years.
Todd is just the face of the company, so he is the one they have talk about the games when they’re coming out.
The same way he didn’t have much involvement in Fallout 76’s development, but is the one who did the presentation.
As long as Fallout 76 is profitable it will still stay around even after Fallout 5 comes out
I have tried to get into 76 multiple times, but I can't. I hate the progression and levle locked weapons and armor. That kills the experience for me.
The only good news for Elder Scrolls fans on this super long wait that feels like it’s taking a lifetime…at least games like BG3 came out and probably taught Bethesda a lot of what their games need going forward. It could be a much better game when it comes out because things like BG3 exist. At least that’s the optimistic take.
BG3 is not good.
@@bobSeigar well a lot of people thought it was. But what a hot take. The point is they are going to probably take from other rpgs or get an idea on what path to go. I doubt the game will be close to that game.

@@bobSeigar well aren’t you the smartest person. He used the word fallacy folks. I don’t really want to get into a discussion. It was a general point. You can dissect what gameplay elements make the perfect game all you want. Perhaps this post scared you that they will copy that game. I don’t know. Either way, I’m sure it will be fine. Yes this game has to be popular. You do understand money is on the line right. These aren’t pleasure games in a vacuum. So yes they need to make people enjoy it. You decided to get up today and shiz on everyone that enjoys BG3 with your elite attitude. Good day to you. My post was meant for optimism. And you had to make it an us vs them thing.
Not super optimistic, very realistic.
although i do want a new game, i dont want starfield 2. it's fine if they dont rush it, but waiting 20 years for one game is insane. Bethesda needs to outsource the i.p. and focus their own resources to ES6
Bro......... it's been too long for elder scrolls, for heavens sake.
Let's go Todd.
Awespme, Fallout 5 will come out when im dead...Its ridiculous how long it takes them to make new games and they aren't even on par really with other games of that level
After Fallout 4, 76 and Starefield, i have zero hype interest or hope for any Bethesda game.
Fallout 4 was decent, the rest i can agree
I agree with todd that its not bad to miss games, but there is a difference between being missed and being forgotten, its been almost 13 years.... A whole generation born after skyrim came out is entering Gaming and elder scrolls is considered ancient
Proud of Matty for asking real questions
Great job for matty. I wish he could have pushed todd a little bit more. Or at least offline 1v1. Starfield was handled way way way too softly. I genuinely dont believe that they "hear the feedback" and that they're "their own harshest critics". Im genuinely nervous for Elder Scrolls 6.
Todd is one of the most down-to-earth lead devs out there. He loves these games and has a solid long term plan for each of the franchises.
Todd is a liar
@@VetriVade nah he just hypes stuff up too much

Nice alt todd
Bethesda fanboy eh?
Love how todd is using the fallout tv show now to try and bolster bethesda's output. He himself has said it wasnt a decision from bethesda to pursue a tv show, but that they were approached for it. Knowing that, you cant just say "hey well we're taking 30 years to make a new game, but you've got the tv show to fill that space". No todd, thats not how this works.
It was a pretty good interview not gonna lie. I actually liked most of his answers and most of Matty's questions. Honestly the full interview is worth watching
Cant wait until 2030 for ES6...
“Why would we make a good game when we can just have a moneyprinter mmo instead?”
Todd is reading comment already made my day 😂😂 good things we throw hard criticism, imagine if we are tame fans, nothing will come out or improve 😂😂
Sounds like a whole lot of nothing.
Great analysis/breakdown, i watched the full interview & still learned more from the insights given here.
I am low key excited for ES6 but i don't care how long it takes. Starfield is fast becoming a really great game, i think SS is going to be great.
People need to accept that these things take time. Have patience!
Bruh I am NOT playing Fallout 76, I will WAIT

Same. An online Fallout is everything I do not want in a Fallout game
I got over 2000 hours in FO76, and I stopped playing over a year ago. I get sick to my stomach, if I try playing it again. I tried 3x. I will wait, also.
@@baldmenwin9591 have fun waiting till 2034 elder scrolls 6 is probably going to come out around 2026-2028 so yeah you will be waiting a HOT minute.
I want a single player fallout game
And considering how early we got a trailer, its ridiculous. That trailer cane out like 4 yrs ago and we still dont have any new info on es6. We are in a content drought and a tv show is a babd aid on an open wound. It is not normal to wait for a new game for a decade plus ESPECIALLY if given Bethesdas track record,it may launch terribly. Something needs to change.
