My first craft I remember was painting a long flower garden on a roll of paper. I must have been 6. Then, 40 years later when my parents downsized, we found it! My mom had saved it all those years, & I was an avid gardener at the time. Who would have guessed?
Over 60 years ago, my grandmother taught me hand embroidery and sewing. From there, I was hooked. In elementary school, I took some bark chips from a tree that was cut down and created a 2D dog. It was selected to be hung in Brook’s Memorial Art Gallery in Memphis. What an honor for a child. I continued sewing many of my own clothes, as well as making and selling little girls dresses. I then taught myself to knit, crotchet, needlepoint, and basketweaving. Now, I make customized glittered epoxy tumblers, and vinyl shirts and home decor. I’m thankful that my grandmother took the time to introduce me to creativity! Thank you, Bethany, for your continued inspiration.
May first craft was purchased for me by my grandmother when I was 5 years old. She bought me a paint by number picture of a horse head. That started it all as I am 73 now and still crafting. I still have that picture too. Love your videos.
I crocheted my first baby’s blanket in 1970. It was hairpin lace. I was 19. I took sewing in jr high Now I love knitting ,crochet ,diamond art , and counted cross stitch
My grandmother taught me to sew at 7 yrs old. I loved sewing n at age 9 I won first place in my state. I ended up making most of my clothes till I graduated. I now at age 65 sew, crochet, paper crafts, vinyl, n also wood projects from mostly pallet wood. 😊
First craft was probably a teddy bear I sewed 🧵 for a Christmas gift for a friend in 7 th grade. Not the prettiest of bears but she was so impressed I made it and felt so special I would make something for her.
My first successful craft was making a scrapbook for each of my brothers with things about and pictures of my dad after he passed away. They turned out so beautiful! I wasn’t really that successful at it again until my husband bought me my Cricut in 2021! Now it’s so much fun!
My first craft was a mini scrapbook of my kiddos at the beach. That was the beginning of my paper craft obsession. Now add a cricut and vinyl and bam! A new obsession lol 😂
I just found your videos and I'm can't believe I hadn't found them earlier. Your design ideas are SO fabulous. Your videos & projects are wonderful and easy to learn from. Plus they are so "soft" and pleasant to listen to. (No harsh music, hype and advertising.) I just want to go back and listen to all the other things you've done! LOL I've been crafting for almost 70 years....(I might have just given away my age!) I can't even remember my earliest projects because there were so many, but I remember doing "Paper Dolls"! Does anyone else remember Paper Dolls??? I have not even thought about them in forever! OMG- I just looked on Amazon and there are even vintage paper doll cut out books on their site! How funny! I''ve only had a Cricut for about a year so there's still lots to learn. I laugh when my daughters say "Mom, it's so good for your brain!" and they are right. So I hope to keep on crafting for a long time. MW
I do so many different crafts, but I started with crocheting when I was eight years old. Most of my cousins were about fifteen years older than I was. When one of my cousin's wife had a baby, I crocheted the hat, booties, sweater, and blanket. I guess I was nine years old at the time.
More than 60 years ago when I was a little girl my grandmother taught me to sew. My first projects were clothes for my dolls. Now I sew, do machine embroidery and do vinyl on shirts, signs, etc.
My elementary school teacher taught me to knit when I was in 3rd grade. I struggled with asthma and often wasn't allowed outside for recess. She taught me so I would have something to do while others were playing. I still love to knit and was able to pass the skill on to my daughter. She has her own Etsy shop!
My first crafting adventure was covering the old style photo albums with fabric. I made a bunch of them and even signed up for a craft show to sell them and make a million dollars! Oh was I mistaken, didn't sell a single one! I remember being so disappointed but I still have some of those albums and cracks me up when I look at them!
There were always the little ornaments and things I made at school. But what really got me into crafting was my grandma. In the house my grandparents used to live in, they had a gigantic attic, and she had a huge craft room up there. I would go over once a week, have dinner with them, and then she and I would go up into the attic. I'd scrapbook with her or while she worked on something else. I always had craft supplies accessible to me and my own little stash at home. But it really kicked off once I discovered the cricut. And now I have my own giant craft room lol and I still visit my grandparents on almost a weekly basis
I was high school age and I wanted something to wear to a beach party dance. I took a sheet, dyed it and made shorts with suspender straps. I was a crazy kid! Lol
I can't remember a time when I didn't craft. One of my favorite was in high school. My friends father was terracing his sloped backyard with bricks he salvaged from demolition sites. A lot of them came from the roads in my hometown. I got a brick and painted it gold as a gift to him. I was pleased when he worked it into his patio.
My first love as an 8 or 9 year old was ceramics! As a young mom I loved scrapbooking and Creative Memories and then card making! I love lots of crafting now:) I enjoy your channel so much! Thank you!
When I was 4 or 5, my brother's girlfriend (he is 16 years older than me) taught me how to weave placemats. From that point on, I was hooked of crafting.
I am not sure of exactly what we were making, but in elementary school during free time someone taught me how to knit with sharpened pencils😂. I mean I had never knitted before, but I sure was proud/excited.
I painted a big canvas with dark grey chalk paint and partially covered it with my grandmother's crocheted doilies. It's hanging over my DB box...beautiful cover up😊
My first craft was so long ago that I don’t really remember. But it was either crocheting or making paper flowers. I do remember that I went to a shop and took a class on making poinsettias. The paper I use was a stretchy paper that could be stretched to get the flowers, a little bit more realistic shape. I became obsessed with making those flowers.
I made a “Welcome to our Haven,” sign with our last name and established year. we were married with a dragon fly on it that I didn’t even weed all the way. I started with a piece of wood, framed myself, painted board, stained frame, then sealed it. Higher starter I know but I struggled through it and still have it on my front porch, I love it! ❤ is send a picture but there is no option in the comments to do that. I’m still using my Cricut a lot and have moved onto sublimation with opening up to designing for others to get my hobby machines paid for. I’m having a lot of fun!
Ohhhhh Bethany - that machine has been in my cart for sometime now. You just confirmed it for me. WoooHooo - thanks for your influence..!! As always - thanks for your time and talent..continue to be blessed to be a blessing.
I started sewing my own clothes at age 12 and continued well into adulthood. I also made a lot of my boys' clothes; Stretch & Sew had just come out. I crocheted a lot of afghans and clothes. I think the very first craft I made was a "sit-upon" in Girl Scouts. We used oilcloth and a blanket stitch to make a pouch, attached a handle, and used newspaper as a cushion to "sit upon" when camping! Fun memories from the '50s.
My first craft was, believe it or not, an eco-friendly collage with fruit pits and seeds. Yes. I collected fruit pits to make art projects when I was 5-6 years old. LOL. Afterwards, I graduated as a tween to embroidery and cruel work. Today, paper, pulp, and apparel. 😀
I love how many of us were encouraged by the women of our families. My great grandmother taught me to hand embroider at 6 or so, my grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 8. My first craft on my own as when I was 15 and wanted to make Christmas floral decorations, think wreaths and garland. I've crafted my whole life and it brings me so much joy and pride in many of my creations.
30 something yrs i started making wicker broom dolls that hung on the wall. Lace ribbon was popular back then lol. But its when I got my 1st surebonder blue glue gun that I actually still have and still works 😮 😂😂
I like your card-making videos but your Cricut-related crafting videos are my favourite! My first craft I got into was scrapbooking, then I got into making jewelry 🙂
I made faux window boxes with florals in them. Thanks for the basic vinyl and home decor. Theses are my favs. I am also new to cricut and I like the older how to use design space as well!!
I can't remember what exactally me first craft was but i remember taking Home Economics class in 7th grade and during the sewing portion of the class I remember one of our assignments was to make a little locker caddy thingy i loved making it so much that Iearned to use the sewing machine my mom had at the time about a year or two after making the locker caddy so at this point I was in 8th or 9th grade and i made a little pillow just because I wanted to. I remember going to the store witb my mom and picking out the fabric I wanted for the pillow. Now i use my Cricut Joy I paint rocks(occasionally) I am starting to get into Decoupage and I am trying to learn how to Crochet. I also have a Dollhouse my grandmother made me when I was a kid that I want to refurbish and finish up one day when I get my craft room organized better. I am the type I will try anything atleast once. All of your crafts in this video turned out so cute.
I can't recall my very first craft but one that is still up on my mom's wall is a 3D cross with a lamb and scripture I made in Sunday school using foam shapes and pearls. I used to be really into drawing and painting. My first Cricut craft was wood ornaments.
Oh such nice crafts!! The be happy sign with the buttons is so cute! I’ve been crafting since age 4-5 & it’s stuck ever since 50+ years later. I remember making a box into a sort of doll house. One of my earliest teachers even put it in my report cards that I liked making things with my hands 🙂.
Thank you for another inspiring, uplifting video. It wasn’t my 1st craft but a memorable one. When I was very young, my lovely mum taught me to crochet. She patiently guided me as I made a winter cap complete with dime-sized sequins. Sounds kind of gross now but I absolutely adored it then and the time I spent with my sweet, patient mother! 💖
Great video! I'm so glad I was able to catch the premiere! For the QOD....I started crafting about 10 years ago when my sister showed me how to make a mini album but I soon found Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire on RUclips and quickly shifted to card making. I loved making cards mostly to send to my husband (boyfriend at the time) who had joined the Navy and was in boot camp. After a while life got in the way and I didn't have much time for card making. I started doing other crafts like vinyl and home decor. I honestly was about to get rid of my card making supplies during my craft room clean out last year but your channel inspired me to start making cards again! It feels so good to get back into it! Thanks so much for the inspiration and congratulations on 100+K!!😊💛
Two memories came to mind with your question. I remember my Mom teaching me how to cross stitch, and I remember my Dad and I making glittery Valentine cards one year! ❤😊
I always loved making myValentine box for the school party. One year I made my box look like a piano 🎹. I really think that is when I first fell in love with creating! I always asked for some kind of project gifts for Christmas and birthdays. I also remember walking to the Ben Franklin store and buying supplies to make fridge magnets, this would have been in the ‘70’s. I think I am done editing my comment, lol!😊
I feel like I’ve been crafting forever, my first items made with my sewing machine was Christmas tree decorations. No funny stories sadly. Your videos alway inspire me to create, dealing with the worst headache today so no crafting sadly. 😢
Thank you for another inspirational video 😊 QOD: The first thing I remember creating was friendship bracelets with raffia and ribbon at boarding school 🏫 I’m going to add the craft room design to mine too 🩷 Where are your sweet bracelets from?
My first craft was a hooked rug. I got it for Christmas to have something to do over Christmas but was so sick. I finally did it over the summer. I remember spending my birthday money on a Family Circle magazine with Christmas crafts. I had so much fun doing those crafts.
Congratulations! You are already at 102k! These people have great taste. 😂 You are not only an amazing teacher, but you pepper in life lessons and and totally inspire us. It's interesting to me that most of us crafters started when we were young. I can't remember my exact age, but I think I was about 6 or 7 when I made things (oranges with cloves stuck in them, latch hook, drawing) with my grandma. I also remember making ornaments with my mom and sister and creating bird seed art for the birds each winter! Now I make lots of gifts, but I am thinking I need a die cutter/embossing machine to make cards - any suggestion on a good first time machine with replacement plates that are easy to find - oh, with a 6 inch opening!? What is your first crafting memory, Bethany?
I’ve always been interested in craft. When I was a little girl my mum would be doing some sort of stitching craft and I remember hand sewing dresses for my dolls. These days I have ALL the stuff and love to try everything 😂
First craft I remember was a latch hook rug at about 12 years old. I fell in love with crafting! I even opened a retail scrapbooking and rubber stamping store in 2001. Had it 4 1/2 years. Great memories!
QOD: The first craft that I can remember was making orange peel potpourri at home with my mom. We cut stars and hearts out of the peels and baked them 😊 now I craft as a mom myself as a break from the daily grind. This Avenue of self expression has been a true blessing for me! Thanks for the inspiration Bethany
Your nails I’m in love!!! What color is that? First thing I made was one cup for myself. When I got my cricut before that simple card stock cards for my mom!
Great video! QOD - I received my Circuit for Christmas a few years ago but I didn't open it until March the following year. The first project I did was an Easter pickup truck decor that I saw on Jennifer Maker.
3:53 that’s actually funny you ask because I was just thinking what my first craft was…my first craft (that I remember) was a newborn sign with all his information; name, height, weight birthdate
So happy to have a new video! Love these back to basics per say!!! It's so inspirational! Well, my first crafts when I was pretty young was a hook rug and cross stitching. Years later scrapbooking when I had my first grandchild! Now it's vinyl, cards, sublimation and everything that u do , I have to do! Congratulations on your 100 k! Looking so forward to the next videos!!!
I'm not sure I remember the first. I have been crafting for almost 60 years. I do remember getting a Raggedy Ann candle kit for Christmas one year, and it came with paints to paint it as well! I also made my own Barbie Doll clothes, and taught myself to crochet out of a book.
It's hard to say which was the first craft that I made. I think I made a few all around the same age when I was maybe between 7 and 9 years old. I remember making Shrinky Dinks, a pot holder with one of those loop looms and a spoon rest I made in a ceramics class that I took one summer. I've always loved crafting and still do. It's been close to fifty years! I love all of the items that you made, especially the button rainbow! Did you cut your hair? It looks shorter and really cute.
This will age me, but my first craft projects were appliquéd apparel embellished with puffy fabric paint! Quite popular in the early 1990’s 😊. I also crafted my daughter’s first Halloween costume (a ladybug). She is now 27 years old :). Love love your videos!
Hi Bethany, I’ve been following you and crafting along with you. Can you let me know where you found the machine?on your welcome to my craft room. I really like it cause it’s so simple and clean. Thank you
Did I see that you have a magnetic mat that you use for holding materials, weeding?? I saw someone had one on RUclips but couldn’t remember who! I’d love to know where to buy one!! I have neuropathy & think it would help me.
When crafting on wood do you use permanent vinyl or removable? Sometimes I have issues with the wood peeling off when using permanent vinyl and peeling the transfer tape. 😮 any suggestions?
@@Bethadilly thank you! I recently discovered you can use htv on wood! I made a welcome sign for my office and it looks awesome! Thanks for your reply!
Hi Bethany and I have a question for you,I have the revolution with the motor I purchased separate and I was wondering how is the Gemini jr,I never see you use that and instead you use your spellbinder,I don’t want to purchase it if there’s issues with it.Thanks in advance
My first craft I remember was painting a long flower garden on a roll of paper. I must have been 6. Then, 40 years later when my parents downsized, we found it! My mom had saved it all those years, & I was an avid gardener at the time. Who would have guessed?

Cross stitch and sewing projects is what I remember from when I was younger.
At a very early age I was sewing on my grandmother’s treadle machine making my own clothes! I am 68 now.
First thing I remember baking is Barbie clothes out of my dads dress socks. First thing I purchased to craft is stamps.
When i was pregnant with my eldest i tried to knit a cardi. I never finished in time but finished for my son 4 years later!!! 😂
My first craft was a mini scrapbook of my kiddos at the beach. That was the beginning of my paper craft obsession. Now add a cricut and vinyl and bam! A new obsession lol 😂

A cross stitched poem for my mom!

Love it!
My first craft with my Silhouette machine was making stickers!!! I soon realized that creating an HTV project would be a lot easier!! 🤣
In 1975 my friend and I made a wreath out of felt that was featured in the Woman’s Day magazine. That has been many years and many crafts ago.
My first love as an 8 or 9 year old was ceramics! As a young mom I loved scrapbooking and Creative Memories and then card making! I love lots of crafting now:) I enjoy your channel so much! Thank you!

Oh, so fun!
Hair bows for my daughter. She had bows that matched every outfit until age 11 or 12.
I am not sure of exactly what we were making, but in elementary school during free time someone taught me how to knit with sharpened pencils😂. I mean I had never knitted before, but I sure was proud/excited.
First craft ever made was in home economics class (yes I just aged myself) but sewed an jumper for a cousins new baby.
I painted a big canvas with dark grey chalk paint and partially covered it with my grandmother's crocheted doilies. It's hanging over my DB box...beautiful cover up😊

This was my first craft with my cricket machine. I’m sorry I think I misunderstood the question.
Ohhhhh Bethany - that machine has been in my cart for sometime now. You just confirmed it for me. WoooHooo - thanks for your influence..!! As always - thanks for your time and talent..continue to be blessed to be a blessing.
The first thing I ever made was an Easter outfit I made when I was 13 or 14… it was a pale yellow 3 piece suit 😊
I started sewing my own clothes at age 12 and continued well into adulthood. I also made a lot of my boys' clothes; Stretch & Sew had just come out. I crocheted a lot of afghans and clothes. I crocheted a blanket while I was in College

Hi Bethany. My first craft was glass etching when I was in high school. I think that is the craft that got me to fall in love with crafting.
Cute. I watched a video on how to make your own buttons just the other day. Love the hair!
In school we made an apron with a bib that has needlework on the top.
My first craft was a yarn octopus my great grandma taught me.
I can't recall my very first craft but one that is still up on my mom's wall is a 3D cross with a lamb and scripture I made in Sunday school using foam shapes and pearls. I used to be really into drawing and painting. My first Cricut craft was wood ornaments.
One page in a smashbook. Haven’t done that in years. Now I’m loving making cards, memorydex cards and all kind of vinyl decor

I’m in ❤❤❤with the be happy.
Love your projects. my first craft was years ago with the kids science fair projects
I feel like I’ve been crafting forever, my first items made with my sewing machine was Christmas tree decorations. No funny stories sadly.

I can relate! I love to try everything too!
Craft is so addictive. I really love your videos, they definitely inspire ❤️❤️
I love that! Thanks for sharing! I bet it smelled heavenly.
Your nails I’m in love!!! What color is that?
First thing I made was one cup for myself. When I got my cricut before that simple card stock cards for my mom!
My first craft was a diaper cake in the shape of a ship. Great video like always.
Hello from Boynton Beach, Florida!
Great video! QOD - I received my Circuit for Christmas a few years ago but I didn't open it until March the following year. The first project I did was an Easter pickup truck decor that I saw on Jennifer Maker.
My first ever craft was a home made monarch butterfly Halloween costume out of felt!
3:53 that’s actually funny you ask because I was just thinking what my first craft was…my first craft (that I remember) was a newborn sign with all his information; name, height, weight birthdate
I made a quilt when I was in high school 50 years ago
Lovely!
Crocheted a toilet paper cover back in the day when these were popular. Aging myself.
My first craft was making my first crochet blanket
I love to crochet!
Thank you, Jean!
I did! Went short for summer!
@@Bethadilly I really like it!

Hello from Lansford, PA
Ive missed your videos, seems ages!
I made a scrapbook.
This will age me, but my first craft projects were appliquéd apparel embellished with puffy fabric paint! Quite popular in the early 1990’s 😊. I also crafted my daughter’s first Halloween costume (a ladybug). She is now 27 years old :). Love love your videos!
Awe, I love that!

Hi Bethany, I’ve been following you and crafting along with you. Can you let me know where you found the machine?on your welcome to my craft room. I really like it cause it’s so simple and clean. Thank you
Hi there, I just purchased this machine in mint now at Hobby Lobby, the Swing Out version. Do you have yours plugged into a 20 Amp Outlet?
So...way off topic, but I love your bracelets on your left arm! Are they rubber? Could you share where to find them?
I linked them for you. ;)
Is there a link for the container with your buttons? Thanks!
May I ask where you got your cute bracelets that you are wearing in this video?
I linked them for you. ;)
Did I see that you have a magnetic mat that you use for holding materials, weeding?? I saw someone had one on RUclips but couldn’t remember who! I’d love to know where to buy one!! I have neuropathy & think it would help me.
I haven't, but I like to utilize my magnetic craft mat for weeding. :)

When crafting on wood do you use permanent vinyl or removable? Sometimes I have issues with the wood peeling off when using permanent vinyl and peeling the transfer tape. 😮 any suggestions?
I use both, I just go with whichever has the color I like and only use removable if it’s an indoor wood piece that won’t get wet.
@@Bethadilly thank you! I recently discovered you can use htv on wood! I made a welcome sign for my office and it looks awesome! Thanks for your reply!
Hi iam sorry but i have to ask you where did you get your bracelets from they are very pretty
Hi Bethany and I have a question for you,I have the revolution with the motor I purchased separate and I was wondering how is the Gemini jr,I never see you use that and instead you use your spellbinder,I don’t want to purchase it if there’s issues with it.Thanks in advance
I love my Gemini Junior. Between the two, I use my Gemini Jr 95% and Spellbinder 5% of the time. They both have their purposes for me. :)
