The first jig head you showed with the wire also works great with gulp jerk shad baits. The barbed wire holds the bait but doesn't rip the soft gulp material.
Thanks Luke. Good advice. I had some inferior lead heads that caused slipping. Tied a #10-12 hook to the eye with the right length of line to stick it in the soft bait back, facing down. This helped a lot. Won't be buying anymore crappy heads. The ones you recommend don't need help.
I like the DOA jigs for Reds, but prefer the Z-Man jigs for trout. I believe Z-Man now makes a jig head designed for bottom fishing (similar in design to the DOA).
Hi Luke !! Question!! When using the pop ‘n cork method and using the pro elite jig , according to Joe Acevedo , he recommends the light approach with finesse like fly fishing with the jigs ..What are your favorite jigs 1/16,1/8,1/4 or 3/8 oz . I know that you going to say depending on tide , wind etc . What’s a good ⭐️ ⭐️ starting point....TU
What about the ZMan Texas Eye Jighead which is weedless? Just found it recently, but we added the corkscrew wire which holds the lure better without tearing it up after a bite.
The TT Lures HeadLockz are perfect for Z-Man products. I believe they were made in Australia specifically for Z-Man products, but now they're available in the US. I haven't seen them in major retailers yet, but there are a few local tackle stores that carry them in Pinellas and Hillsborough County, as well as Amazon and Tackle Warehouse. Great video, guys! Keep up the good work!
Jigheads with the bent wire keeper also work really well on the Zman plastics. Z man makes one called the finesse eye that has the bent wire keeper and they are good jigheads for smaller more finesse presentations.
you always fish the lightest weight jighead you can get away with.. what I mean by that is, depending on current etc.. is gonna determine the weight you need. lightest jig you can use to hit bottom
I don't think the Z-man's are hard to rig at all. Even if you don't get it perfect the first time you can pull it back down and try again without worrying your gonna ruin the bait whereas with most other soft plastics you really have to get it right the first time. I really like the strike king redfish magic jig heads. They are a boxer style jighead very similar to the trokar one he showed and the VMC boxer but the strike king seem to have a slightly longer hook shank in any given weight than the other brands so they match up really well with 4-6 inch baits. The strike king redfish magic jigheads are cheap too @ under $4 for a 3 pack. Personally I put a tiny dab of gel super glue on the hook shank just below the keepers before sliding my plastics up from my experience it makes any soft plastic last 2-3 times longer than they would without the glue.
The thing I like about DOAs most is that their material is more dense so they get a bit more distance on their casts. I probably wouldn't have had one of my favorite catches ever had it not been for the DOA jerk getting an extra ~5 ft relative to any other 4" jerk bait: ruclips.net/video/mv-Dgp3xDQI/видео.html
@@Saltstrong In general, with the 4” Zman Deisel MinnowZ, what is the weight you recommend for Trout Eye jig head? I would be fishing mid-depth flats 3-4’ depths...

The one question I have for you Luke do you use your owner weighted hook on that particular z-man as well????
Yes, I'll use the weighted hook if fishing the extreme shallows.
What size are those Jigheads? Very informative video 👍👌
Please do a video on how to keep the fish hooked and keep them from shaking the hook when they run or jump. Thanks
The jighead without barbs is designed to use a bit of superglue gel to hold the soft plastic bait. They should write that on the product!
You didn't mention the name of the first jig head with the barb on it and who its made by??
what is the comparison of Zman soft plastics and the slam shady please?
He said dooodoo several times and I decided it was worth commenting on.
which size zman soft bait was used
Trout eyes for the 3 and 4", redfish eyes for the 5" zman are the way to go. The hooks are super strong too.
Thanks for the tip!
A drop of Super Glue gel where the swimbait touches the head and you can use a jighead of almost any design even a plain shank.
Can you rig a Styrofoam popping cork to main line or do you have to have leader?
Great info as usual.
What size do recommend and weight thanks

Salt Strong im not impressed with their cal vs a bass assassin or a zman
Dirty Jigs Matt Allen Tactical Bassin Swimbait Jig Head. Awesome product!
@ tackle warehouse.
Do all Jigheads have the same size hook?
Jig heads come in a large variety of sizes with different sized weights and hooks.
@@Saltstrong In general, with the 4” Zman Deisel MinnowZ, what is the weight you recommend for Trout Eye jig head? I would be fishing mid-depth flats 3-4’ depths...
Vmc half moon is perfect for them.
