  • In 1975 Bernard Herrmann arranged a suite from the film score he composed for director Don Chaffey's JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (1963). He recorded the suite in London at Kingsway Hall conducting the National Philharmonic Orchestra. The suite was the second of three suites on the London Phase 4 album THE MYSTERIOUS FILM WORLD OF BERNARD HERRMANN. The suite contains the cues "Prelude", "Talos", "Talos' Death" and "Triton".
The artwork for the cover of the LP is the work of artist Dennis Pohl.

The soundtrack is all brass, percussion and winds--no strings attached.

the music definitely made the film 50% better - that is some skill to have........ doesn't get more epic....

I heard this recording before I saw the movie, and while the faster tempo on the soundtrack is more suited to the movie, I thought the slower tempo was suited to a serious war picture!
