Had one at 16 just s like that gave 900 4 it took me 2 years 2 pay it off I painted like the bottom buy my doors black an put cragers rims on mine an put big slicks on back of mine an a black hood with black hood scoope an had a rebel flag seats. In back of mine. An tent yellow windows an all gray inside. Miss mine. Had mine 4 five years an im 41 an don't have nothing now. Mine was like that one loved it. An I put a wing on back of mine. I took care of mine then had a black one with white lines an 400 big block in it Love em. Hillsboro Ohio great cars
These Birds dont get enough love...
Maybe because they're only souped up LTD II s.
@@efandmk3382
These are Fox based. Nothing to do with the LTD II.
I like that 1996B250 you had a long time ago
"Fully loaded, all the options" Love it, it's a base T-Bird, the Elan would say it on the trunk, and dash. Also, the Elan had power windows. As for options, the list was huge, and this is not loaded. Still a nice a car.
I love the Thunderbird name badge on the trunk lid
EXACTLY! This Is a Base Model with the Only Option being that 5.0 V-8. It's also far from being Super Clean. It's Covered in Nick's, Chips & Dings, and the Upholstery has Definitely Seen Better Days.
I own this car and love it.
Miss seeing this car on the road
You don't see this type of Thunderbird anymore or even Cougars FTM. Mercury went defunct on January 4, 2011
This car was popular in the 80s, and so was its sister car, the Mercury Cougar, which BTW had different quarter windows than those of the T-Bird
It's gorgeous. I remember these cars when they came out 1983. Summer, they were everywhere. Ford home run again!!
I agree that the car is gorgeous
I love this car. I had the same one in high school. I bought it used with 87,000 sold it four years later with 125,000 to my cousin and to this day he has it ( mind you I sold it to him in 1996). Love this car it's a solid set of wheels. Take care Nate ;-)
There was one of these in front of me this morning on my way to work. The base guard chatted with the driver for quite a while about the Tbird, these younger classics do get noticed!
NICE
Ford really had it together back in the 80s!
Knight Rider Season 3 double parter.
This Thunderbird, though pretty, is not an Elan. Thunderbird Elan had 'Elan' badges on the driver's side of the trunk, and the bucket seats with the 'big' or Turbo Coupe head rests. This Thunderbird also has wheel covers, Elan had wheels. This Thunderbird is a base model with the optional V8.
good eye you are 100% correct
These are gettin harder and harder to find. I've always loved these fox body birds. Especially the turbo coupes.
Buy it I would
The bird is the word.
This car is identical to my first car except my molding was painted and the rims were different.
Much more elegant than the 80’s Mustangs. I had the ‘86 Cougar.
The Cougar has different quarter windows than those of the T-Bird
I agree with you that the car is beautiful
I'm interested in this car if still available!
Interior reminds me of my 1984 Mercury Marquis!
"Ohh would you look at that" remind me of ed bassmaster. Sweet car think I just bought one very similar to park next to the 83
Nice 85-86 Thunderbird LX
Thanks!
ive got the 85 ford t bird 5.0 v8 very reliable just burns up cap and rotors fast
Burns cap and rotors?? Never changed mine and it works fine. Must have play in the distributor and is making the rotor hit the cap points.
What a last from the past Nathan! Wow I bought a brand new '84 at age 22 white with this red interior and it was fully optioned making this look bare boned. But this has the V8 compared to my V6. I was all so amazed at the ride this car gave. And how quiet it was while driving. I finally had my TBird that I wanted in 1980. I wish Ford Still made the TBird.
Looks like my old car
What a beautiful T- bird!
I found mine at 18 later on in junk yard some one wrap it around a tree
Brings back the good times
Only because it's a coupe. The new Challenger is a compact if you can believe that. But otherwise, I bet they'd both be a full size dimension-wise, if they had four doors.
Quick show on a great car, easy worth on something timeless
I had the Mercury version in 1996 the cougar very good dependable driving car.very easy to work on and maintain
Not sure this is really an Elan. I had an 1986 Thunderbird Elan with the 5.0 V8. It should have a fully electronic dash (digital tach, trip computer, numeric display for fuel level, etc) and badging on the left rear of the hood. Mine had power driver and passenger seat, power door locks, power windows and power antenna as well as climate control. Good cars and pretty much bullet proof (mine was my first car and withstood everything I did to it) but can be pretty tail happy (good and bad).
Dam nice car ready for a few custom touches man nice ride
Gotta say though the red interiors that people thought were cool in the 80s really are a deal breaker for me. Seems like every classic that has survived has it though so I might have to adjust
great looking t-bird!
I agree! That's a beautiful car if ever there was one
Nice car! Ford got it right with these "Aero" 'birds... The EFI V8 in these cars had low horsepower, but they were still pretty quick. It's a shame they did not offer the V8 with a manual transmission. Still, it's a great car... Funny, though...this was considered a mid-size car in '86. If it was built today, it would be in the small car category...
these are so nice .....had one....drive great too///
oh man so nice! my uncle had one lke that back in the 80's, if you notice that hole above the radio you could get this super duper equalizer which I actually have lying around that I inherited from my uncle, also has an amp built into it, deffinatly a cool setup
I'd Like to buy this or trade for my 95
I love the color on this!!
surprised that the doors didnt sag,, probably had them fixed ,, i had a sagging door on a car and it was 200 to get it fixed at a body shop,,, could maybe do it yourself if u had a helper ,, the door pin kit is only like 12 bucks,, i looked at and was more than i wanted to attempt
It can be done by one person mostly, but it's a huuge hassle... Many shops won't even touch it, or they'll charge outrageous amounts. It's really hard work.
You manage to find the nicest of the american cars
Nice color same as my cousins Mustang
dan oderio is completely correct this is NOT a thunderbird Elan this is just the standard thunderbird model it is missing a couple of items that indicate an elan I should know I owner a 1986 ford thunderbird elan that is 100% complete matching numbers inside and out including under the hood. and the elan has the word Elan in silver on the trunk jus like the word thunderbird in addition it also has the word elan in fairly large size that is inset pressed into both front fenders rubber strips near the wheel wells
Found one on craigslist with a v-6 and 67,000 miles, for $2500, should I buy?
Yeah,Sure...and so,thank you Coments...
Haha this was my forth new car. I started at age 18 with a new COUGAR XR-7 then a 1981 Pontiac Bonniville, 1983 Dodge Charger, then the 1984 T-bird that was almost $14K I was a working fool full time from age 14 and started saving. Had the money for my first car at age 15 and I had the car! I had to look at it Almost a year before I could drive it LEGALLY. I remember the guy at the Lincoln Garage asking me what I did that I could afford a new car at age 18.
He sounds like a typical used car salesmen. This works perfect. Best car ever. Blah blah blah. The more amazing the car is in his words means it’s probably not.
It’s not an Elian Bird it was a Special Edition… The car would be power everything & there would be Elian badges & most of them had a Keyless Entry pad on the drivers door above the door handle … I have never seen a Elian Edition that didn’t have a remote for locking & unlocking the doors as well as the trunk open option with a PANIC button …
At 11:47 you point out a light that came on. If it's a circled S next to the word "SERVICE" then that means the gauges were replaced at some point by a Ford dealer and there should be an odometer label with the mileage when it was done. Add the mileage reading to the one on the odometer to get the exact mileage. They didn't program exact mileage in the replacement clusters back then. Should be listed in the owners manual. Good luck with sale.
The VIN will report 'Base/Elan', that slash means 'or'. And in this case it simply means NOT a Turbo Coupe.
My uncle had a similar thunderbird, but he DESTROYED it!
Nathan has done it again with a clean - low milage - one owner.
w0ow nice find! i realy like this one,.
Haha what a boss running your paper down... I woulda drove even that distance. This is like the classy luxury version of a Mustang, too.
Funny you think it would be a floor shift not a column shift.
And Elan had power windows as standard.
My papa got me one of these for me he got it when I was 2 and worked on it and put new exhaust pipes to make it sound louder and he gave it to my dad to hold for me and my dad sold it this pisses me off
Beautiful car!! my dad has one gold-brown he needs to fix, these were great, strong standard cars and the last Ford modern cars that are really worth, I'm glad to see these one in such perfect conditions, because there are not many of these left on the world, not to mention that some idiots treat them as junk-yard cars... I hope that the car remains in good hands and really nice video (Y)
these will be the new classics
mans mustang wooooo
Yikes! I cringed when you closed the trunk lid with the keys still hanging on at 4:40. I love you Nathan but be careful that's going to scratch! :)
The label will be in the driver's door jamb area.
your channel is my favorite actually i really enjoy your videos hope to meet you one day my friend
I had an ‘86 identical car but with the 6-cyl. owned it 5 years and put 204,000 miles on it. Best car I ever owned.
I have an 86 Thunderbird with just a blown head gasket from a bad fan clutch If anyone wants it. I don't want to get rid of it but if u convince me, I might budge
Nice asmr video!
when i get rich, i'll come out and buy several cars from ya lol
It was because I lived at home still and paid only $35 a week for room and board. But I did move out at 18 and then gas was an issue seeing I traveled 60 miles a day just to work and back so I bought the diesel Bonneville and was that a BIG $13K mistake. And I insisted on a diesel. Finally I traded it towards the Charger 2.2. The Dodge dealer didn't know I was trading a Diesel in on the Charger. They assumed it was a gas motor.
You are a true car salesman. Nothing you're saying is matching what is being shown on the video. Your use of the word "great" actually means "poor". Additionally, that is the base model not the Elan.
Get a life........
Looked on to your eBay history.
this is my first car irl but not this exact car
What I find really strange about this Thunderbird is that instead of a scary buzzer or a gentle chime it has the Ford version of the so-called flute-like tone sound.
The older Ford vehicles had buzzers. The Maverick was one of them
When I saw the thumbnail I originally thought it looked like a Lincoln MK VII. Same platform.
i have the same car but power windows and interior is in perfect shape 60,000 just paid 1700 was wondering how gd a de as l i got ?
You got an OK deal. This is a Ford from the 1980s. These cards only had a 5 digit odometer, so it's more likely that it has at least 160,000 miles. It has maybe another 50,000 left in it, if it's currently in good shape. That's a good deal. I once bought a 1970 Oldsmobile Delta with 80000 miles for $1200.00. This was in the mid nineties, and i bought it from the original owner who swore that was actual mileage. I drove that car another 150,000 miles before it got hit by a police car and totaled. That is probably the best deal I ever got on a car.
Is there a freaking Mercedes-Benz with big Honking smoke stacks coming out the rear bumper ?????? Is it from Texas ????? Lol....
This car is going to Australia.
Silly little video. Not really sure this particular 'Bird had *ANY* options, aside from the 5.0. and power drivers seat. Everything else was "standard equipment" for the Base model. Regardless, it's a nice example and very respectable, even by todays standards.
Please don't slam the trunk with multiple keys on the lock...
Hi !!! Mr.This T-Bird Motor is Lincoln MkⅦ same the Engine??...
how much
for the car
Love the tbird Nathan and I just wanted to say as Mercedes Benz fan I really Dont like the exhaust pipes on that Mercedes in your drive way but to each his own Lol no offence of course my friend
why the hell doesn't the 5.0 in my crown vic sound like that? lol
I had 2 Grand Marquis, '86 and '87, and the engines sounded just like that.:)
nah my 86 vic doesn't sound anything like that . i'm straight piping it soon though so we'll see how that changes.
Hm...Maybe it's because you don't have that A/C hose running right above the intake manifold, like in this T-Bird.:)
paulparoma
: /
paulparoma...At least the exhaust pipe isn't running below the fuel line, as Ford is known to do. BOOM! or is it?
Have a 94' and raced a rich kid with a 13' mustang v6 and killed it.
+Aaric Geerdts Thunderbird owners love to watch Mustangs: in our rear view mirrors!
True!!!
how much are u saleing it for?
please start showing your keys
burnout!!!
THAT IS NOT AN ELAN . FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.
Dan Oderio I have a 1986 thunderbird elan 5.0 v8 but I need a diagram of the adapter that goes to the ignition switch. I don't know what order they go in
my email is sidejobs2do@gmail.com just put the word elan in the subject title so that I can easily and quickly find your email. my name is Rachel I'm jus on my fathers computer so I had to leave it logged into his account but anyways I can help you with this issue if you still need the help. the ignition system is a fairly common issue in these cars up until 1997 when they change the why they had it. I own multiple thunderbirds as well as many other vehicles that ive collected and start restoring
Oh Wow the Con Artist has 4 whole documents on a 32 yr old car...Did that Add $3 grand to the 5-6 Grand price? Clown like this make me Sick..Worst is the Craigs List under cover fake Dealers
It’s a man’s mustang
14:25 yes, all of this does.
its not elan
The crank windows ruined it for me, and yes they can break.
