If everything is OK with the head and bore and I'm not getting coolant into the oil what else can make it over heat because I've had the shims done and my wr426 keeps over heating. Thanks
That 426 generally runs hot. I have a yz400f myself which is virtually the same engine. Do you let it idle for minutes at a time? These bikes like to stay moving and if you sit and idle even for just a few minutes you will start getting hot, it’s the most common mistake made on 4 stroke dirt bikes.
obviously the owner rides mainly on pavement to have a tire that worn and still claim its in great condition... i think they might have tried to pry the top end apart with a screwdriver and then that caused the dents on each piece where they mate together ? i got a 2004 YZ450f couple weeks ago and i hope i never need to take it apart like you did here ... mine was overheating and spews coolant out the drip tube yesterday when i went slow up long mtn roads with my girlfriend on the back, maybe thats normal since its designed as a race bike ?
