For those who don't know, the Red Hadouken is actually in reference to a glitch in the original SFII where you could turn the fireballs red. It's also what inspired the Shakunetsu Hadouken move in later Street Fighter games. Anyway, for the QotD, I'm totally pleased with what we've been getting, but I also would not be opposed to "Deluxe" versions with more accessories and whatnot. Regardless, Ken is my favorite SF character and I pleasantly await getting my own.

That’s wild. I just saw Ken for the first time today at my local Target and decided to revisit this review after picking him up. I was thinking Anthony’s lighting must have been off, because the gei on mine is definitely,y red, not reddish-orange. Then I saw your comment, checked the bottom of the foot, and sure enough, the serial number is in black.
Jada 100% hits the sweet spot. Same price as all the other major 6’ lines but with a consistent accessory loadout of an extra head, set of hands and a blast/power effect. Bison’s wired cape is great and Dhalsim is one of the best values I’ve ever seen at $25. Only thing close is GI Joe Classified with all the accessories but I think Jada beats em by always including heads/hands. Marvel Legends are all over the place with accessory value. Some come with extra stuff and some don’t🤷♂️
I only have Chun Li and Fei Long so far, and have never owned figures from SF before or ever played the game, but I love the ones I have and think they're a great value for the money. I'll definitely be picking up more. Great review, as always! Thank you for your tireless efforts at keeping us informed about where our action figure dollars are best spent, Anthony. I have hugely appreciated all you do for years now.
these hit the sweetspot for me, especially since they are including extra accesories with their player 2 versions in case i feel like having those, like the chun one having the happy head and peace sign that didn't come with the regular release
Totally hits the sweet spot. Can’t wait to pick this guy up. Would’ve preferred a fire effect for his dragon punch move instead of a fireball though. But that’s OK. All in!
This is an EXCELLENT line. However I do agree they could improve the faces a bit, JADA had the same problem in their Universal Monsters line (which was made worse by the fact that those were real people portraying the monsters so it's more noticeable). With upcoming figures like Dhalsim, Bison & Vega it's not an issue but whenever they have to do softer features like female characters, it's just an issue and that's why I skipped Chun and kept the old SHF.
Finally, Jada Toys Street Fighter II Ken Masters - what a sight for sore eyes! That McFarlane Toys Batman & SH Figuarts Guts were complete disasters! This Ken figure is definitely one for the collection! ✊
I like what Jada is doing with SF and Megaman. I’m all in for SF. However I have to be honest. Jada’s biggest issue right now is their distribution. They need to have more of their action figure product in retail. The change between factories is still affecting their output.
Q of the Day: Sweet Spot. Spend a few days sorting accessories before putting figures up on eBay, and you’ll gain a whole new appreciation for the old adage “less is more”. I just wish I was more into Street Fighter in general. I tend to get a little bored after the marquee characters. I was very happy with the faces on the first three. I’m not sure about Ken here. Shades of He-Man, and my memory is the same as yours when it comes to the gei looking faded. A perfectly good figure, but not quite the same “Wow” factor as the first three.
agree. as cool as some of the accessories are, some of them come with too many that never get used. Like that Mezco Doctor Doom with the energy absorber thing...
Sure but Ken - even in the games- was just a Ryu clone to buff up the character roster. So its easy to see why his figure would not make anyone too excited. Its a great figure on it's own though. The real deal is what follows next.
QOTD: I'm ok with the line as it is. I'm not a huge Street Fighter fan so these figures are good enough to me. If I want something more "premium feeling" I'd just try to get the Figuarts. Ken is cool, just as good as Ryu, my only complains would be the shading, it's not placed properly in my figure and I think it looks a bit too saturated. I don't want to complain too much because Jada actually went the extra mile and took the time to add shading on his back too even if it's hidden under his Gi. Hasbro would never. Hell, not even Bandai, lol. The Toyotaro UI Goku has 0 shading on his back and that's a PREMIUM EXCLUSIVE figure. I only wish Jada would have included a shoryuken instead of a red hadouken tho.
I bought this online on release day here in Australia. Sold out in minutes. I have all the figures out so far. These are made really good from colour to looks and articulation. McFarlane please take note!
I have all the SF 2 releases from Jada thus far including the SDCC Evil Ryu and they're amazing! I hope they keep up the quality for the remaining figures from this line.
This is my gripe about Jada's Ken figure as well: the accessories. Ken doesn't shoot red fireballs (Ryu and Akuma do), and was not known for being a projectile type of character. Should have included a flame effect part for his Dragon Punch instead.
I like the Jada Toys Street Fighter figures. I love that I’m able to get affordable Street Fighter figures at the 6 inch scale. I just wish that the figures wouldn’t take so long to get made.😭
Jada toys does everything that hasbro and even some import companies don’t do. These figures are amazing and I’ve been having a blast using fei long for customs
The red fireball is for ryu i think he started to shoot that on super street fighter were he actually burn the enemies it was cool so just usenthe red fireball with ryu and blue for ken. What ken is missing is the efect for the fire shoriuken but youbcan borrow that from Feilong. I just starte to buy this guys only ryu but the next one is Ken and hope I can get bison to create the battle from the animated movie
Most of the other Ken's have gesturing hands and a flaming fist effect. I have no idea why JADA's has a red fire hadouken. Ken doesn't even throw a red hadouken. Since I have so many fire FX already, I will just use them with the JADA figure and be fine. I'm happy with the purchase.
I though Ken never did red hadoken, but I was playing SSFII this afternoon with Ken, and I did 2 red, just like Ryu... Anyway, great figure, I love this line!
Im really enjoying the line so far. Ive already been able to find dhalsm and Bison at a Target not far from me in socal and can confidently say they are probably the best figures of the line so far. I think the pricepoint is great too, Ive always wanted a set of good street fighter figures but all the good lines like SHF and Storm are expensive and the SOTA figures are a bit too outdated for my liking (not even going to touch the neca ones, the chun li for example is nightmare fuel). If anything, I would have been ok if they bumped up the price another $5-$10 and included a third headsculpt with each characters win pose. They seem to be giving us that with the alt colors but I’d rather not have to double dip on the same character just to get the extra accessories.
Every now and then I might see one in store. Lol. Either theyre barely stocked or people buying them up hella fast. Its just the right amount for me. These are perfect.
Just got Ken along with the first 3 of these (Ryu, Chun Li & Fei Long) - the Ryu is pretty solid so far. Excited to see when the Blanka comes. Have you found any of them getting loose over time - so far? Edit: The nose on mine has that same very slight crookedness but not noticeable really... its like a millimetre off probably
My only issue is, can we actually get them in hand please?! 🤦🏼♂️ The targets around he me had 3 ryus, 0 Chun lis, 0 Ken's, 0 dhalsim, 0 bison, and 50+ fei longs 🤦🏼♂️ he's not a bad figure, but I don't need 50 of him..
I might be totally off on this one but I'm not a fan of the sculpt of the arms on the ken and ryu buck. small rounded shoulders, very short biceps, and an especially noticeable pinch at the elbow joint. one of the obvious tests of a good ryu or ken is whether they can sell the iconic shoryuken pose, and I 100% think these fall short in that area, just end up looking wimpy. I still like the figures overall(really wish they had toe articulation) but not being well suited to their marquee pose is a bit tough to swallow.
Thanks for your efforts on this one. I have admired this line thru the reviews you have published, and despite the fact I am not collecting this line I find that penny for penny these are worth their prices. Thanks again.
These figures look fantastic for what they are. But I’m the kind of collector who doesn’t crave multiple figures of the same character design, if I already have one I prefer; and for me, Storm’s Chun Li and Ryu are the definitive action figures of them, so I don’t feel much desire to pick up the Jada ones
They could have given a shoryuken effect to ken, as its suppose to be the technique ken dominates the most, and since his shoryuken can have a fire effect they could have modified fei long´s kick effect to make it a shoryuken. Just my two cents.
if the leaked images of the player 2 figures are real then jada plans to include more accessories and extra heads to motivate people to buy the P2 figures like pink Chun LI with smiling face, in the case of blue ken it would be obvious to include the fire punch effect and even his peace sing hand
BTW, there's a basic Ryu 2024 reissue that fixes the skin tone and the detail on the face plate as far as I can tell. The figure looks much better. Got it from BBTS
I’d pay $5-$10 more for an extra set of hands and an extra effect piece. Like with Ken I truly think he needs a Shoryuken effect because I associate it more with him than the Hadoken. That or a defeat face like we got with the Storm Collectibles figures.
Okay so the fireball is there for variation I think. In super street fighter 2 you could do a regular blue fireball or a red one(half curcle back to forward). All in on this line just because of value for money and being a fan of the older SF games
@shinasura777 Yeah and the whole reason they decided to make it a move in super was because of the red fireball glitch in previous versions. Ken wasn't throwing red fireballs in ssf2, but he could in cps1 versions of the game because of the glitch.
As soon as o saw these in my Walmart I caved, great figures, keep them at the same price point. They come with enough accessories. I think the faces are fine based on old video game images.
Apart from my Ryu's leg snapping and the odd other QC problems like paint apps I think sculpt articulation and accessory wise these are all great and I'm not when a Street Fighter fan
I love what jada is doing the price and the distribution in Mexico is great unlike other companies I just wish the figures would come out a little faster also hopefully jada can get other ips they have earned my trust for sure.
These figures are a perfect balance of price, quality and interest for me. I'm not into SF enough to buy characters like fei long and dhalsim for an import price and if these figures were marvel legends/super7/ mcfarlane quality I wouldn't buy them either.
I’ve always been a MK guy but I enjoy some fighters from SF so I have bought a few of these (although like you Anthony.. they don’t exist in my area.) I’m more into the Mega Man line but these are some of the best price point figures out there.. Jada teased and then removed a MK logo with “should we?” They do a classic MK line I’m ALL in on that.. plus MK is not listed on Storms site at all. So… 🤔
in reference to Ken's nose, his face is really close to how it looks in the street fighter 2 player select screen. It's probably been busted a few times.. Also, Ken is actually Japanese in origin
I agree that the faces are the weakest point of this line - they are not low quality, but are a little too cartoonish. I want to mix them with my Marvel Legends figures, but their expressions make it difficult. I picked up Ryu and Chun Li, but couldn't get past Ken's smile. Oh well, I'm low on space anyway...
The only problem I have is that he has no neutral face & the shoryuken effect. Why a red fireball when that’s not his thing. Awesome figure regardless.
Ok ok forget about the Alpha style headsculpts (but don't), hear me out.... what if you made and sold headsculpts based on the art in SF Third Strike, and i'm NOT totally saying this just because i like it and i want it on my display.
Ryu officially didn't have a red fireball until Super Street Fighter 2 on the CPS2 hardware. But in the earlier CPS1 versions of SF2(World Warrior, Champion Edition, Hyper Fighting) there was a color palette glitch that would sometimes cause the Hadouken to turn red for both Ryu and Ken. That's what this accessory is a deep cut reference to. That being said I would have preferred a Shoryuken flame effect.
@@NecroIust Street Fighter 2 Turbo is the SNES version of both Champion Editon and Hyper Fighting from the CPS1 arcade on one cartridge. That's why you were also getting a red fireball glitch then.
@@Finfection I didn't know it was a glitch, when alpha came out ryu already was using it as a signature move, but yeah it's more of a ryu move than a ken movr
@@NecroIust It didn't officially become a Ryu move until CPS2 versions of the game such as Super Street Fighter 2, which released before Street Fighter Alpha. People have always speculated over the years that the original glitch was the inspiration for the red fireball becoming an actual special move later on.
Ken never had a red fireball in the games until SF5 they game him a red fireball for his V Trigger 1. But since this figure is based on SF2 it's weird that they packaged him with one.
I would prefer a slightly more expensive and a bit better quality but I absolutely love what Jada is doing. Say an extra fiver and get nicer faces plus on more head. Though with the evil Ken release we are getting some nice accessories
for what the figure is worth from packaging, quality, articulation and the accessories it comes with, id say the price is on point. As for the fireball color, its base from early CPS1 of SF2 as an easter egg, both ryu and ken sometimes do the red variant of the fireball. Later on its implemented on other sf games as well as part of his attacks, here is a link on Ryu's hadouken evolution and you can see it does the red hadouken . ruclips.net/video/3ihrSG0j6l0/видео.html&pp=ygUTIHNoYWt1bmV0c3UgaGFkb2tlbg%3D%3D however one could argue that the red hadouken glitch could just as well be a reference of the SF1 where the hadouken was yellow.
Ken never had a red fireball. His Hadoken is weaker than Ryu's, but he makes up for it with his Shoryuken more notably his HP (heavy punch) version which hits multiple times and is covered in flames Meanwhile, Ryu has the classic blue Hadoken, the Shakunetsu Hadoken (red fireball), Denjin Hadoken (electric fireball), and the Metsu Hadoken (a purple fireball brimming with evil energy)
QOTD: They did reach a sweet spot when it comes to value. There’s now room for improvement. I can understand why there’s a “fire”-colored Hadoken because Jada decided to do it. However, only his “EX” Tatsu or Shoryuken and his supers including the Shinryu Reppa or Shippu Jinrai use the fire. A flame effect part that could connect to the wrist or the ankle could have been genius so these moves could be replicated.
These figures are pretty much putting rest of the industry to shame.
I totally agree.
Yea but they are hard to find
@@SanicSez bbts has all of them

🥊🥊🥊🥊 Another fair & honest review
Same, I’m in the same town where they’re manufactured and it takes so long to get here too. Thats one of their biggest flaws
They're manufactured in China. Where do you live?
@@AnthonysCustoms my mistake, I meant where Jada Toys is located. I’m a SoCal resident
Oh. Gotcha.
As long as they dont go exclusive/limited shenanigans its all good
3:50 not hard to imagine Ken's had a broken nose a time or 2.
Cant wait for Dhalsim!
I’ve always been a MK guy but I enjoy some fighters from SF so I have bought a few of these (although like you Anthony.. they don’t exist in my area.)
I’m more into the Mega Man line but these are some of the best price point figures out there..
Jada teased and then removed a MK logo with “should we?”
They do a classic MK line I’m ALL in on that.. plus MK is not listed on Storms site at all. So… 🤔
I think no one has mk right at this point because Warner bros pulled out of all licensing or something like that
Oh, he should've come with a Shoryuken effect :( Still looks great, though.
Is it the best figure ever? No. Is it an amazing figure for $25? Hell yes.
It changed from blue to fire orange
in reference to Ken's nose, his face is really close to how it looks in the street fighter 2 player select screen. It's probably been busted a few times.. Also, Ken is actually Japanese in origin
That has since been retconned. He’s a white guy and has been for some time.
ken always shot red and ryu shot blue like chunlee that i remembered
I agree that the faces are the weakest point of this line - they are not low quality, but are a little too cartoonish. I want to mix them with my Marvel Legends figures, but their expressions make it difficult. I picked up Ryu and Chun Li, but couldn't get past Ken's smile. Oh well, I'm low on space anyway...
I with they had given ken a shoryuken accessory instead. I ended up using a fire fist accessory from a different figure for him.
😂 Ken looks like He-man in Goku's battle gi!
The only problem I have is that he has no neutral face & the shoryuken effect. Why a red fireball when that’s not his thing. Awesome figure regardless.
Do you still have your SOTA SF collection?
i do
Ken always shot red fireballs even in the original. It was a very rare occurrence in SF2 though.
JADA TOYS is like the STORM COLLECTIBLE Budget version
The line is great, the distribution....SUCKS!
I wish Ken would have came with a Shoriyuken effect.
They should make the Victory Pose/Smiling Face accessory pack.
I’d love them to take on more IPs
Ken has the worst portrait art in Super/Turbo, which is what the sculpt reflects. They could do another hair piece and he should look miles better.
They need to make some Mortal Kombat figures based on MK3 preferably
0:55 you said that on purpose
I did.
Ok ok forget about the Alpha style headsculpts (but don't), hear me out.... what if you made and sold headsculpts based on the art in SF Third Strike, and i'm NOT totally saying this just because i like it and i want it on my display.
Ken doesnt shoot red fireballs but ryu does since SF2 actually
Ryu officially didn't have a red fireball until Super Street Fighter 2 on the CPS2 hardware.
But in the earlier CPS1 versions of SF2(World Warrior, Champion Edition, Hyper Fighting) there was a color palette glitch that would sometimes cause the Hadouken to turn red for both Ryu and Ken. That's what this accessory is a deep cut reference to. That being said I would have preferred a Shoryuken flame effect.
@@Finfection I had it on SNES and I pretty much remember he used a red fireball in sf2 turbo
Akuma shoots purple fireballs, Ken only ever shoots blue fireballs. Ryu shoots blue and red
Ken never had a red fireball in the games until SF5 they game him a red fireball for his V Trigger 1. But since this figure is based on SF2 it's weird that they packaged him with one.
They did it cause Ryu had one in Super SF2 so guess they just wanted Ken to have one, being the "fire guy."
Look up "Street Fighter 2 red fireball glitch"
I though Ken never did red hadoken, but I was playing SSFII this afternoon with Ken, and I did 2 red, just like Ryu
Later on its implemented on other sf games as well as part of his attacks, here is a link on Ryu's hadouken evolution and you can see it does the red hadouken .
ruclips.net/video/3ihrSG0j6l0/видео.html&pp=ygUTIHNoYWt1bmV0c3UgaGFkb2tlbg%3D%3D
however one could argue that the red hadouken glitch could just as well be a reference of the SF1 where the hadouken was yellow.
S.H.Figuarts Luffy (GEAR 5)?
Idk it's like it's out but it's sold out every where
Fireball-wise, i think Ryu is more electric and Ken more of a fire, these days
The figures seems to arrive in fit and starts. Ken finally arrived a couple of weeks ago in the UK. Still waiting on Dhalsim and M.Bison also.
He's kenough
Ken never had a red fireball. His Hadoken is weaker than Ryu's, but he makes up for it with his Shoryuken more notably his HP (heavy punch) version which hits multiple times and is covered in flames
Meanwhile, Ryu has the classic blue Hadoken, the Shakunetsu Hadoken (red fireball), Denjin Hadoken (electric fireball), and the Metsu Hadoken (a purple fireball brimming with evil energy)
A flame effect part that could connect to the wrist or the ankle could have been genius so these moves could be replicated.
paul mart exclusive player 2 ryu hes not jaundice lol
Ken is Japanese and white and he dyes his hair blonde.
