I do like the glide from DCUI, but if I were to have a grapple hook travel power I would want it to be like the one in Champions Online. Those two mixed together would be cool to me.
If the character can fly without messing up its efficiency, then my favorite Fly or sometimes Mystic Flight. I also love Superjump and usually use the go bind: /bind J "++autorun$$++up$$powexec_name Combat Jumping$$powexec_name Super Jump" From a standstill the J button will send you forward and autojump for you, then J again brings the momentum to a halt and activates Combat Jumping if the character has it.
@@solblackguy You are welcome. That bind has been around for years and years, so I can't take credit for it. I can earn points for having it saved to an old flash drive of "CoH Memories" and spreading it around when CoH gained it's Rebirth, though, heh.
@@NodHero just being able to share this stuff is more than helpful. I didn't start playing until 6 months ago and didn't realize how customizable (almost) everything is.
I agree, flight is my default, especially if I make a classic "Silver Age" superhero with tights and cape. For fairies, I take hover as soon as it is available. I make them as small as I can with fairy dust aura, they look adorable flitting around in the air even if it costs a precious power slot. And the defense bonus is nice to have. For natural-origin characters, ninja run will do for a long time, and jetpack in a pinch. Man, I can't believe how many alts I've made in my lifetime! It must be in the hundreds.
@@TheUnseenPath You can have all the travel powers, if you sacrifice enough slots. I like to stay in characters as much as possible, so I would normally only take those that fit my character concept.
Hey CCG (RE: Homecoming server) You probably already know this but if not and/or for those who don't, you can remove specific "power buttons" from your power tray by right clicking on them and selecting "remove"... or maybe it's "remove from tray" or just press "R" (which is what I do). That will clear out/declutter any unused powers from your tray. You can also add power trays (more than 3) to your screen by hitting the plus sign in the right corner of the original power tray. And you can change the shape and orientation of those trays by right clicking on them and selecting from the options given. Also on the homecoming server after one of the more recent-ish updates to the travel powers, they now stack, meaning you can turn on hover, fly, evasive maneuvers and afterburner all at the same time. Your flight characteristic will be that of hover, meaning your position will be upright and you will stop immediately (instead of coasting like regular flight) and you will fly considerably faster than normal if you have them all on. Just remember to turn off what you're not using once you get into the mission or your endurance will drain really fast. Flight used to be the slowest travel power, but when you do it like that it's pretty much equal to super speed/jump. Although you can also stack super speed/jump with sprint and ninja/beast/athletic run. Not sure if teleport has any kind of stacking ability. I also use flight as my default travel power on most of my toons... Actually I think only one of them is not flight and that's super speed/jump, because I made a cheetah toon lol. 👍😁 Flight is just so much more convenient. Get up high enough to avoid obstacles, aim towards your destination and hit autorun.
I'm an old CoX hand, 2004-2013, rejoined the community in 2020--and I only recommend Flight. The others have many limitations in the higher level access zones, it's not worth it to waste a power slot on Super Speed, and Super Jump is just a dumb version of flight. If Teleport was reworked so that you could pick your destination on the zone map, you might have something, there, but otherwise, flight rules. I really like some of the Prestige Travel powers, especially Magic Carpet; it would be nice if any-or all-of the servers would make them slottable...? Just sayin. Great video, brother, keep it up.
thanks and I do have to agree with you on the need for flight for the higher-end zones. I think if they were to also rework super speed so you could run up wall like in DC online then it would be a very usable travel power.
My main brute is a Brigg Spines/Fire build, so he has super speed. His top speed is 113 mph+.I liike it. I have his jumps slotted to where where his jump is almost a super jump. I have the jump pack, the rocket board and he somehow got the Skyraider jet pack.
I used to give all my heroes flight, but I eventually made a speedster that uses super speed and a tanker that uses super jump and barely use flying outside of blasters and controllers. I do have one energy blaster that uses experiment which works surprisingly well with all knockback powers. I tried mystic flight on a dominator once but realized it was way too floaty for my tastes without having the control hover offers.
I tend to go for flight for my squishy blasters, nothing like hovering high in the sky while blasting away at the hand combat types villains who might one shot me otherwise. Mix between Super Leap and Flight for my bricks and scrapper types. I do teleport rarely. Don't find superspeed all that good, especially in zones where you do not have clear lines of travel. Done sorcery for a few of my magic types.
I know its private servers now since the game got shut down, which one at least is officially sanctioned now. I'm kind of surprised this game is still going though. Still back in the day when CoH initially came out, teleport was my favorite conceptually especially in city of villains as I liked playing a mastermind who was conjuring in pets so teleport fit. But flight always felt like mechanically the best. I may give the game a go again.
CO has a lot of the same amount of customization, the only differences between the two is that CO has the free form system when choosing your class and also lets you choose where your powers shoot out of. weather it be your eyes, chest, palms, or fists. But CoH has way more zones, as the last time I played CO it only had like 2.
Yeah I should do that, I just never bothered to because I do not use the teleport power pool much. But with Rebirths i5 coming out soon that will change.
Because each server is having to read through thousands if not millions of lines of code, to find learn how the game was built. Then they also have to write and do new animations. Some of the servers may not even have animators on the teams. Finally, all the teams are doing this in their free time and not getting paid to do any of this. They are doing this for the love of the game.
That depends on the server, I will do a video showing how to get it on the different servers. As right now I only know how to get it on one or two of them. So I have to do some research.

Good showcase, but honestly, you were not easy to listen to. I'm not sure if you notice it, but you described almost every aspect of every power as either "really nice", really cool" or "interesting", multiple times even in some instances. You also repeat the names of the powers, as in "next there is X, and X is...", over and over. Those words don't tell your audience anything; not even about your opinion on the powers, because you say the same things about all of them. And making sentences longer to no other effect than that you get to say more words only makes you seem like an obnoxious nerd. For Grond's sake, you even dropped the stereotypical "ackchyually" a couple of times.
Thank you for the feedback, I am still getting used to talking with a microphone in front of me without being nervous. I am also working on trying not to repeat myself. If you have any tips or ideas to help me out I am up to hearing them and giving them a try.
@@ControlledChaosGaming I know those troubles. I have difficulty speaking too. But the great advantage of recording over speaking to a live audience is that you can edit it before anyone else gets to hear it. I would listen to my own recordings and analyze them for parts that don't sound good. Then I would cut those parts out and record them again if they were important. That costs more time than recording and releasing everything in one go, but it's worth it to get a better video out in the end.
I will put more of a focus on editing the audio, thanks for the feedback and tip. This 2ill be my main thing to work on until it becomes automatic to me.
