-----------------------
A tornado like this one forms from a supercell, which is a storm with a persistently rotating updraft. This rotation is caused by strong turning and increasing of winds with height. As the first storm towers form, they begin ingesting the spin these winds create in the atmosphere. Over time, as the storm strengthens (sometimes in as little as 30 to 60 minutes) a low-level mesocyclone takes shape. Visually, this is often seen with a developing wall cloud. From here, the process becomes complicated but familiar: A push of air from behind the storm (the rear flank downdraft) wraps around this low-level mesocyclone as air flow into the storm increases. This all helps lower the pressure underneath the mesocyclone and concentrate the rotation. If everything works out, a tornado is born. And if everything works out too well, a violent tornado like this EF-4 is born. #tornado #weather #science #nature #twisters #twister #supercellthunderstorm #twister #oklahoma #tornadoalley

I love the people driving towards it like it’s just another day at the office.
This is one of the rare times I'd be driving away from my destination if that tornado was between me and it 😂😂 ill show up late thank you
Pretty sure those are storm chasers
@@Datboi_23 oh, yeah, maybe.
@@Datboi_23 So I guess for them, it really IS just another day “at the office” 😂
@@ianfranks541 I mean it's also Oklahoma, I'm sure for some people that live there it really is another day at the office.
That's the most impressive tornado footage I've ever seen. No shaking camera, no loud commentary, and amazing detail.
That’s the one thing that sucks with Reed is he’s so f-kin loud and the wind is killing his mic.
Agreed But you will still notice that even though theres no rain , the wipers are running full speed as in all tornado vids

Looks fake! Unbelievable
I'm from Oklahoma this past Saturday an F4 tornado hit the town I live at. We have leveled homes and buildings. Everyone is devastated! Keep us in your prayers!
God Bless you and your community. May you all recover quickly. 🙏
Prayers 🙏🏿
I’m not a Christian but I hope your community finds fortune while rebuilding.
Sulphur?
They have used EF ratings since 2007. Far as I know , only the Marietta OK tornado was rated EF 4. Sulphur tornado was rated high end EF3
That tornado didn’t even look real at first.. that had to be terrifying to see in person.
As someone who has barely recovered after 1 and a half years after the Paris Tx EF4 tornado. It's hard to find beauty in a tornado.
Tornadoes ARE terrifying. Yet I can’t help but observe its beauty 😳
Tornadoes are beautiful monsters 😱
😮
It's alright. Come live in the Midwest. Here in Kansas the standard response is to stand on the porch filming it and making guesses which way it's gonna go. Why do you think the casualty rates are always lower than you'd expect? Everyone is filming. Cameraman never dies. 😅
Seriously though, I'm always blown away by how low the casualties tend to be from even the most massive storms. Look up what Moore, OK looked like after it was hit. It looked like Hiroshima. Basically half the city was literally gone. Reduced to the ground. Multiple schools full of children were hit directly by the tornado. I say all that because when you see the damage and know how many people were directly hit by that mile wide EF5 storm, it's incredible that it resulted in 27 deaths and 212 injuries. Given the hundreds, even thousands, directly hit by that storm, those numbers are INCREDIBLY low. The people in Moore were incredibly lucky, all things considered.
The fact the tornado moved out of the way so the people could get through is crazy
That’s the most polite tornado I’ve ever seem
@@Puppetmistress If that were an Arizona tornado, it would have done everything in its power to destroy anything in its path.😀 much like the asshats who drive in this cesspool.

Imagine seeing this in the 1700's.
It's no wonder the indigenous peoples had so many myths and legends, especially regarding these things..
As a New Englander, It sucks clearing snow and having about 6 months of winter with frigid temperatures. Not to mention our vehicles rotting away due to how the roads are treated. That said, I'd gladly choose all of that instead of tornadoes. These things are absolutely terrifying! God bless you all, and stay safe.

Those horizontal vortices are also something that's associated with strong, strong winds.
couple weeks ago there was a giant wedge tornado that had up to 9 vortices beneath it at times. that thing was so violent, it was literally tearing itself apart lol

@@26michaeluk. Tornadoes aren’t named, hurricanes are.
A tornado moving past your exact location lasts roughly 30 seconds and it is the longest and most anxiety inducing 30 seconds of your entire life
Tornadoes are the only form of natural disaster that I would describe as creepy. And then the creepy sirens just make it worse 😅
How about sinkholes? You ever see that story where part of a guys house was swallowed by a sinkhole in the middle of the night? His family could hear him yelling for help but his entire bedroom had vanished. He was never found.
Just wait until you hear about that one fire whirl from 1920
@@173jaSon371cmon man I tried to forget about that so I could sleep at night😭
Ive seen a video recently in which someone likened tornadoes to the closest thing humans will ever experience to a H.P. Lovecraft-ian eldritch horror.
Big enough to be awe inspiring, small enough to be witnessed in full, horrifying glory. A hurricane is just a big storm system with days of warning. Tornadoes are small, personal, and concentrated destruction that appear with often only minutes of warning. They're violent and can disappear just as swiftly as they came.
@@nephalos666they’re like giants murderous ghost-like beings. They’re terrifying to look at because they feel alive
Perfect example of a solid EF-4 Tornado.
What a polite lad. He stepped out of the way so everyone could get past
Perhaps some of the most dramatic footage and very close that I've seen, and I've seen a lot of good footage.
That is probably the best recording of a tornado I've ever seen...
Absolutely amazing the sheer power of tornadoes is overwhelming
How many times more powerful than the atomic bomb ? I forget the number, but that number was kind of shocking to me. As was how small of particles, the debris was ground into. A man's car, ground so small, to not be identifiable as anything other than metal particles. Not one single piece, big enough to indicate that it came from a car. Like it just disappeared. And tragically, there was a person, who also - just disappeared, ground to nothing but particles. That's some power. Quite terrifying, I felt.
@@brianwade879 600 times
@brianwade879 tornadoes and bombs have one thing in common: instability. But in terms of destruction and sheer power, atomic bombs are hundreds of times worse. A shockwave that disintegrates anything in the center with temperatures that reach hotter than the surface of the sun. Even past 5-10 miles, you would experience a shockwave and maybe even radiation burns. Radiation poisoning is a whole nother ballgame as well. I'd rather die from a tornado than suffer for weeks as I'm melting from the inside out
@@brianwade879atomic bombs are definitely worse imo
@@user-le4rw6rt9p the difference though is that an atomic bomb isnt going to suddenly manifest like a tornado can, and the fact that it can essentially sweep houses off their foundations like they never existed is terrifying
This thing def. had the hallmarks of a violent tornado - the extreme motion at the base, horizontal vortices, debris lofted very high into the air. No surprise it was later rated EF4.
It’s crazy when people on the coast argue hurricanes are worse. You get weeks or months to prepare. Tornadoes you get seconds, to minutes.
It’s all about perspective.
You literally can just check the weather to see if there's a risk of twisters. Also hurricanes cause floods which are without a doubt the most dangerous weather related natural disaster.
Arguably, hurricanes are worse. Don't get me wrong, tornados are dangerous and can cause an immense amount of destruction and death, and they can be unpredictable in terms of where it will be next, however they are more of an isolated event and often don't last very long. Now compare them to hurricanes, which are weather systems that can be hundreds of miles across, cause dangerous storm surge and flooding, have consistent wind speeds of 71+ mph, last for days or even weeks on end, and have a larger area of impact due to their size and hurricanes definitely sound worse to me. That's just my opinion.
@@Elite21021It all about perspective. I’m a macro numbers kind of guy which I realize can be deceiving…Looking at the averages from 1980-2023: 48 deaths/yr from storms vs 157 deaths/yr from tropical cyclones. On the financial side: cyclones are 3x as expensive as storm $10.3b/yr vs $31.3b/yr. For an individual in an independent event, I’d say a tornado is more deadly though. Choose your metric.
@@Drewshew I'm from NJ and spoke to some guy from the midwest about this. I said tornadoes are worse, he said hurricanes. I prefer the 70 mph winds stretched over miles than the 100+ concentrated winds that'll shred my house in an instant and come without warning. Thankfully we never had more than a category 2 here. We had time to plan and evacuate if we wanted.
I don't think I could ever drive in the direction of a tornado, but I truly love these videos...
everyone's just casually driving towards the tornado
I respect their curiosity sitting that close to an EF4, noticing the horizontal vortices shooting out the side as well and the sudden break to the right. Very dangerous, but excellent footage
The sound of the emergency alert system and seeing the tornado has an ominous feel to it.
that has got to be the most beautiful white cone shaped tornado
This is one of the craziest tornadoes I’ve seen on video!
Go look up the 2011 Tuscaloosa EF4. This one is creepy, but the Tuscaloosa tornado was a certifiable Cthulu monster.
@@torchthi3f869Yeah I remember that tornado live to this day. I was 10 years old at the time and had family in Tuscaloosa while it was happening. That tornado was a monster and tore that city to shreds

I don't even know how to make words in bold on RUclips though so what do I know?

I appreciate that you didn't take my comment as rude or judgemental as it sincerely wasn't meant as such. It saddens me how often a simple comment receives an emotional, and often angry, response. I often feel the need to add a disclaimer to what I consider to be a fair discussion.

I can appreciate why someone would want to be a storm chaser. It would have be such and incredibly scary rush to see something like this in person.

Great footage! Gorgeous and terrifying.
What's crazy scary about tornadoes is that you can see them when it's destroying things cuz you can't see an earthquake you can't see a hurricane you can't see a blizzard besides snow
thats what makes tornadoes extra fascinating
they almost seem like a living entity
Thats freakin scary!!!!
Definitely more overnight investigations!! Best paranormal videos on the internet. I love how real your videos are and how simply edited they are. CJ, you do a great job at making us feel part of your adventure.
This is the strongest tornado i have ever seen
As a Floridian I feel as though others could agree with me, tornadoes are 10x scarier than hurricanes. For hurricanes we have days sometimes even weeks to prepare, and go in land,to the point that we don’t even take hurricanes seriously sometimes. For tornadoes you have if you’re lucky a matter of minutes. Mother Nature is the most beautiful yet terrifying thing there is in this world.
As someone who’s lived in Louisiana for most of their life, I’ve seen both tornados and hurricanes and both are absolutely terrifying
I think I love tornados too much
I loved the full video of this chase too. Incredible & excellent job!
Fun fact: tornadoes are actually 100% invisible. Them being wind and all that
@Concordefann no a tornado itself is invisible. The reason we actually see it is from water droplets, dust, and debris.
@@coltonkyhl388 Tornado funnels are visible long before they touch the ground, it has nothing to do with debris as they are literally part of the cloud they are descending from and therefore will be the same color as said cloud.
the tornado has begun before the funnel hits the ground. @@Fightconnoisseur96
Air is transparent. However, the condensation funnel is synonymous with a tornado because of the low pressure associated with them.
Fun fact. People who say fun fact are really talking semantics.

thank you for pointing out "Extreame motion" I had no idea what I was looking at untill it was pointed out to me in an animated graphic. I thought it was calm motion
TENEBROSO 😮
Anyone who is afraid of tornadoes should focus that energy into learning about them. How they form, how they move etc. I suggest taking basic and advanced spotter training.
It’s funny but scary how people who aren’t even trying to chase or be anywhere near a tornado end up being so close to them sometimes
Even more 😨 is if it is like pitch darkness of the night. You can't see it, but only hear it. Now that my friend will be your worst-case of a nightmare.
Makes me want to move to Oklahoma. I've seen only a waterspout in Florida so far. This is just on another level. 🌪️🌪️🌪️
I've seen the whole video of this beast. It was INCREDIBLE!!
I agree. I've always been fascinated by tornadoes. If only they weren't destructive
They can turn directions on a dime over and over again. Absolutely horrifying.
The Katie Wynnewood EF4 is probably the most violent non wedge tornado ever recorded.
Tornados are the closest thing to real life giant monsters we'll ever have.
The Katie EF4 was a Beeeeaaaasssst.
So amazingly beautiful and terrifying at the same time!
Would this be the “drill bit” type of tornado?
we can all agree, they're amazing to watch from distances and on video but in person within an uncomfortable distance we're all shitting ourselves in fear
Amazing and terrifying all at the same time. They are also mesmerizing.
I had to take a second look at this, because I thought it was really good CGI the first time. It looks almost abnormally clean
at the beginning of the video I thought they gave the tornado a health bar, while the music was playing like it was a boss battle
Doesn’t even seem real….one hell of a fever dream to wake up to that
When it comes to tornadoes, Ian Malcolm says it best… “Oh yeah… ooohh, aaahh! That’s how it always starts. But there later, there’s running… & screaming.”
Isn't that what Geoff Goldblum's character says in Jurrasic Park?
My question is, why are people driving toward it?
Because some are Storm chasing
And the others?
@@vorcrogaming3055they want to see it up close..nothing wrong with that
The other up close footage of this tornado is some of the best I’ve ever seen. It was extremely violent
My husband's brother and sister in law purposely moved to Oklahoma for some reason. Now I see exactly what that reason was. Looks like a really fun place to.
Tornadoes are terrifying but ominously beautiful, is spot on 👍 I've been fascinated by them since I was a kid, granted we don't get them here in Australia.
It must be amazing to see them in real life
and also kinda nerve-wracking at the same time. One came close me about a year ago.
I’ve seen “black” tornadoes and “white” tornadoes. This particular one seems to be going through a populated area where I would assume it’s picking up/scattering debris, but it’s “white”. What makes these tornadoes have different colors like that?
Some of the most violent motion I’ve ever seen
The sky literally coming down to earth to tear you out the frame. Pretty scary looking sight but that's mother nature..
Do you think if you drove straight toward a tornado youd most likely bounce off it or get sucked it?
I'd have a hard time between watching it or hiding if I ever saw it in person. Always wanted to see one, but from a distance as it harmlessly goes through a field😂
that's super lucky getting that good of footage for an ef4 tornado
That is one of the most photogenic tornadoes I've ever seen. Too bad it is a force of devastation and destruction. 😢
Wow is amazing it reminds me of the movie twister. The fact people are just driving like it's a normal day is crazy lol
Tornadoes look like cgi they’re so crazy! That’s why twister movies look more realistic than we think. Tornadoes are just THAT WILD.
I didn't even know twisty boys could spin that quick.
I’m seeing all the birds 😢…that beast gives me the shivers and I’m glad to live in Washington State but I lived in Seattle during volcano eruption and an earthquake…
To quote pecos hank, “tornados move like something of the living. Our brains aren’t able to process something that big being alive… so we stare.”
Why can't people, seek cover,& not think they're tougher than the weather?!!
Those are meteorologists and storm chasers gathering important data about the storm for the NWS and local news while also providing victim relief efforts..
Handsdown one of my favourite tornadoes ever filmed! Textbook beauty of a tornado!
That's some amazing footage

Beautiful. From a safe distance.
It's, prolific, that's for sure. Imagine if it were *_rain wrapped..._*
When one of those especially as massive as this, sets down on the ground its hard to imagine anything left behind at all. Just a massive Whirlwind accelerating upwards of 200 plus miles per hour it would just suck the wind from your lungs at its least. Worst nightmares for sure.
One of the most beautiful and dangerous things that earth has to offer.
I think you got Christmas early, there’s no rain, no hail, it’s bright, and slow, how have you done this
I wish I understood tornadoes more. These folks are legit inside of their cars, not even looking like normal storm chase cars. How did they not get sucked in or blown off being that close? None of the trees are uprooting anything, just strong winds. But we had a tornado here I first experienced but was in a shelter so about 600 ft from the road where the tornado was going down like a car and it uprooted our tree and went through the park into the next town but my house took ZERO damage. Would that mean it'd be safe to be outside and watch as long as I'm not in the direct path of it? Or will it be like those tornado movies where you'll get sucked in and thrown miles away? How does this work because I've been seeing videos of people outside filming the damn thing when it's the next block over or so
