ABOUT US
We’re Colin and Samir, creators based out of Los Angeles California. We make videos about the creator economy, and the lessons we’ve learned over 10 years of being on RUclips. We also interview creators and try to get to the bottom of what’s working on RUclips and where the creator economy is headed.
Title Idea:
How to NOT Get Blacklisted by Warren Buffett
The RUclips channel that makes trailers for RUclipsrs to get an opportunity to make a movie for Mr. Beast is like watching a third-door story unfold.
Fyi, their channel is @Sticks
They should do an interview!
Honestly it’s surprising they haven’t done one for Colin and Samir yet, they’d get a second third door to Mr beast
YESS they should 100% do one!
Oh wait the sticks guys did meet Colin and Samir though! They were in Ryan’s joyride announcement video that they directed. It seems like they’re waiting for the right time to have them on, because it would be kind of hard to make one for them after already meeting them once before.
This guy is just on the next level of thinking now because of all his experience. Also was thinking it'll be about emails and was like "should I watch this" but trusted my gut and just wanna say Thank You guys.
Based on the title I was expecting this video to be about email newsletters like The Publish Press, was pleasantly surprised. Great video!
Finally doing some research on who I could reach out to for advice/mentorship. I needed this. Thank you all for the great podcast!
Had no clue who the guest was, but this was the best podcast so far in my opinion.
Fun fact: all these people commenting havent watched the full video yet because it was released 4 minutes ago.
yup, they're bots 😂

Ha yeap
“Nice people are f’ng awesome” now that is a motto to live by. The thing is that you can’t fake being nice for long, it comes from one’s upbringing and is tied to who they are as an individual. One of the best parts of having a channel for me and a surgical practice is that many people who like my style share similar attributes themselves, including being nice! (Most of the time). That makes for a great experience for me, the patient, and my entire team.
This is, without a doubt, one of the best interviews I've heard in a long time. It's rare to encounter something that feels truly life-changing, but this interview certainly was. There were so many valuable insights from both sides that I can't wait to listen to it again. Thank you, gentlemen!
When I first opened this video, I looked for the timestamp for the cold email.
But after listening to Alex speak I was so intrigued. It was like I was reading “The Alchemist”, it was just great storytelling and lessons that came with each thing he had to say.
Incredible video, I will be revisiting this often. I am also definitely getting his book.
Hands one down of the greatest videos ever posted to this platform, let alone just the creator economy niche
LOVED this conversation! It unexpectedly spoke to me so much. I came in thinking it was about how to do cold outreach (which it did mention), but it was so much richer than that. I especially can resonate with the end part where Alex says The Third Door also applies to our LEARNING. Just to follow that inner tug. I'm definitely on that journey right now, just listening for the tug and trusting it'll lead me to the right door at the right time. Or inspire me with an idea for what door to actually pursue. Thanks for always sharing such quality and honest conversations!
This one of your best videos ever. Thank you Samir and Colin :)
As someone who has lived a life that is restless for change periodically, the one thing they don't address is the fact that life is additive. Often, the skillset and experience from the first doors prepare you uniquely to find and execute at the 3rd doors.
Holy shit, that’s me. I’m that naive 18 year old kid.
Just don’t be a creep or a stalker, and you’ll be fine ;)
Really great interview so far. I was someone who was “waiting in line” at the first door for the longest time (college, having a 9-5, etc.) until I became disillusioned with the industry I was in. I realized that I liked the *idea* of working in big tech, but once I was in it.. it was a lot different than I had thought.
I took a risk by starting a RUclips channel and embracing cold emailing 😅 I probably had the most failures I’ve ever had in my life… but also the most successes. The “third door” is really the only way you can ever choose your own path. It’s a lot harder, but it’s a lot more worth it.
We’re told on physics there could be a 4th dimension
So maybe there’s a 4th door 😴
My guess is it’s called “the web”
1:13:10 resonated with me so hard. I am a 19 year old who NEEDED to hear this whole bit from somebody who was in my shoes once. I think one of the core reasons that young adults struggle with depression so much is that we feel the need for everything to come NOW - finding friends, being validated, building a career, being worth something. Thank you for stating exactly what we all need to hear - it’s okay that it’s not happening now, and we’re all doing just fine. Splendid interview.
Some segments to highlight:
0:22:45
Mistakes, embarrassment, these can either be taken as data you improve on, or you can be defensive and hide from them.
1:19:00
The source of many mistakes is fear. The inability to learn from mistakes is also fear.
And at the end, they bond that they have shared experience. If you realize other people have lived the same things, it does help alleviate some of the fear.
I needed to hear this today. Thank you guys!
Took me 5 days to watch and it might be the best Colin and Samir podcast they’ve made specifically for me. This a “How to get your foot in the door” podcast and it’s invaluable to me.
My favorite conversation you’ve ever had! This was awesome!
1:26:51 I needed to hear this.
in 2023 I lost 100k worth of contracts and projects because I tried to do too much at once, and failed on both.
Then I put myself about 20k in debt to accomplish moving to and from the locations I had to be in to attempt my goals.
Then I got depressed and stopped fostering my relationships built over YEARS that helped me get these contracts.
Now I'm starting from nearly square one on both fronts.
And trying every single day to not beat myself up, pull myself out of debt, and continue building.
My biggest single mistake was not trusting my gut.
I let myself be swayed by people pushing me to do every opportunity I had, at once.
Wow! I love the variety recently. First Preston, then the author and now we are talking about mastering emails :D
I am just blown away by the values, settings and experiences of the three of you.
Blessed to live in an age where I can listen and follow conversations like these.
This is awesome.
After watching you guys for 3 years now starting at the young age of 15 this video meant so much to me. The massive gift of knowledge i’ve gained watching videos this put the ribbon on top. This was a deep dive into the early stages of starting a creator business and a real eye opener that everyone sucks at the beginning. Very good conversation and would recommend to anyone who wants to start.
I’ll be honest, initially a lot of what this guy said gave me pyramid scheme energy but there actually was a lot of substance in there. I’m glad I stuck through it. Cheers!
Hey Colin and Samir! I wanted to say thank you, not just for this video but for what you guys do in general. Your guys' show is partly what inspired me to make my own, and I've learned a lot about creativity and reaching out to other creatives from you guys. If it wasn't for your show, I don't know if I would have been able to get in touch with people who's work genuinely inspires me. I mean, I never would've thought I could get to talk to my own musical influences (Bill Wurtz & Disasterpeace just to name a couple). Especially since I'm just a community college student who is doing their own show as mostly a passion project. Thanks for everything, please keep being you and I look forward to your guys' work in the future!
Love the videos
I know this video isn't getting a ton of views, but this was an incredibly helpful interview for me. Thank y'all!
I love this guy - great book indeed. Can't wait ti finish watch this episode
this went DEEP 🔥🔥soo much super cool psychology, laughs, and valuable advice we all need to hear. easily their best interview so far, and not even by a RUclips creator!! 😳😳
Just ordered The Third Door! Great insights from everyone and I'm grateful for y'alls channel!
God damn that's a good interview! And just in the right time! Thank you, guys!!!
This is one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen
I really enjoyed this interview with Alex Banayan! "The Third Door" is such an inspiring read, and it was great to hear more about his journey firsthand. One of my favorite quotes from the book is, "When you change what you believe is possible, you change what becomes possible."
Put this one on the backlog to watch later and wish i watched it sooner. There is so much here that is so meaningful for me. Thank you for this
This is going to help so much! FINALLY. My emails to brands have been so weird and awkward 😂
Is this a tutorial how to reach out to C&S? Good luck going through your inbox on Monday boys! 💪😅
Love from Denmark! ☺️
I always walk away from the conversations you share with us feeling so inspired and renewed. Thanks, guys!
56:55 I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that picture frame in the background. Your words to fill the board are hilarious (and important) 😂👏🏼 #itsallinthedetails
As someone just getting in to the content/media game this is a wonderful insight episode.
Wish I had heard this years ago.
This is such a good interview! I can definitely relate! Great job Colin & Samir
This was AMAZING! Best video I have seen on this channel. Great work and thank you for all the wonderful advice.
This was crazy helpful - thanks!
I find it very comforting to learn about that syndrome where you have an initial meeting lined up and your imagination jumps ahead to everything being signed, sealed and delivered. For me it's so true - not just in my professional life, but in my personal life! Perhaps even moreso in my personal life. Sigh. Nice to have company, though... Thanks for an insanely informative and delightful interview.
Really appreciate how much the focus of this conversation was on failure and just the anecdote learned from the failure. It feels more realistic to achieve our lofty goals vs. only hearing the anecdote and how it was applied to get "success". Great episode, love that you guys are exploring creators outside of capital Y youtube!
Alex doesnt miss. Love this guy. Started following him a few months back and he's changed my life
One of the best interviews I've watched in awhile, thank you guys as always
Thank you for this interview. I really resonated with the perception of what it means if I can find that one important person who can change my life. 90% of my clients come through a personal recommendation. I cannot put a number on the amount of hours I spent sitting down with someone just sharing free info, giving a free personal evaluation session without them taking on the class or simply signing up and figuring out how to improve my thing or how can I create the best system. Years later the reputation is so high I barely advertise. As it was said you can only connect the dots after. Patience and grind are so important. Not everyone is ready to do that.
0:49 after ....
u guys give out value therefore more people are more likely to continue watching and keen to watch to the end to get the tips/tricks
This is the best episode I have seen from you guys!
This is an absolute master class for young creators! You guys are awesome. Thank you for providing it to us.
I listen to this interview yesterday on Spotify, but decided to come back and right down my take aways because this vidéo really help me in this stressful times.
My take aways
1.THINGS TAKE TIME!
2. Create a body of work without the fear of failure
3. Know where you're going: have a plan, a story, a mission that people can understand and help you reach
4. Don't be afraid to ask for help, but make it easy for people to help you
5. Be mindful of your failures and when asking for someone time
6. Be Nice and treat every opportunity like if it was THE ONE
Oh and I forgot maybe the most important one:
7. RESEARCH
One of my favorite things that I have learned from my life is : "Don't try harder when you have given it your best, try differently."
its not about knocking on the same door 100 times it about knocking on 100 doors this interview is a amazing.
So much value. Thank you
One of the best videos you guys published, thank you
This could have been titled: Chicken noodle soup for the creators soul. Thank you fellas 🔥
Super awesome interview, tons of truth bombs and tons of applicable learnings. Love it ❤
Yo that's super sick! Will have to watch this right away. I loved The Third Door when it came out! Such a cool dude! 🙌
I have to say that this probably is my favourite episode from the show, as a long time viewer!
This is great, thank you! :)
I had an experience where I had the opportunity to be at a charity event with the entire Lakers team. My biz partner and I were the exact description of the delusional creatives that believed putting ourselves next to someone prominent would validate our ideas. So we put all our chips on meeting LeBron, pitching him in person, and somehow becoming consultants for him lol.
I was lucky enough to shake his hand, but even with a clear ask and an inside person, our ideas were not validated nor had social proof, and that was the biggest lesson I learned from that experience.
So happy to have failed lol. A valuable experience that made me know that next time it’s in my best interest to actually get over my fear of putting myself out there (self worth). And that getting social proof and sharpening my knife when it came to the value I was providing was what needed to happen the next time around.
Keep going everybody
Really good insight and timing. I just saw Spielberg at Tribeca Film Festival
nice interview, as a current student I had no clue what a cold email was, next time I dont get into a class I do think ill try it.
The goat of outreach! Read Alex’s book a few years ago and am now working on a course on how I’ve been able to get the guests on my show!!
thank you for this video! love it!
so happy i watched this!!
Great video! Appreciate the insights
Thanks
This is great, alex banyan is a legend!
WOW! wonderful podcast, so much wisdom and love hearing all the stories.
We had definitely already made the same mistakes, so it's so reassuring to know that you can still succeed and also what we need to do to improve
absolutely insane amount of value in this interview
Wow thoroughly enjoyed this, and now I’ll be heading for the book if I can get one
Excellent articulation of ideas you can feel his grasp of rhetoric underneath it all
1st time here. Enjoyed the failure fun & stories.
i saw an interview on this guy a while ago, but it was cool to see more in depth creator economy focused questions, especially the bits of information from your guys own journey.
Set another way the difference between those make mistakes and move on and those who don't is a fixed mindset versus a growth mindset.
The book mindset by Carol Dweck is amazing
One key ingredient that this guy as so many others who do succeed have is: PRIVILEGE and/or LUCK. Yes, they all work hard. Yes, they are all talented. But one thing they either truly don't understand or don't want to admit to themselves is how privileged/lucky they were to begin with. What do I mean by that? Well, this guy said it clearly, he dropped out of college and then FOR YEARS spent 12+ hours a day reading books, trying to line up interviews, making videos, traveling to meet all these businessmen etc. Someone (aka probably his parents and game shows) had to finance all of that so he could play the game. Imagine a regular person who has to get a job instantly and work 10-12hr/day just to pay rent and lives paycheck to paycheck with no support from their parents and being on the verge of homelessness. They don't have the privilege/luck to go after their dreams, to fantasize about all these grand possibilities etc.
I've learned so much in this interview compared to other ones C&S has done. Will definitely be using the template too haha
I love his book this dude is great so glad u interviewed him
So good. I can hear Dale Carnegie approving. I will listen again and take notes (sharpen my axe).
01:01:12 "our biggest partnerships always come from generating a real life human relationship" -colin
building trust IS the business!
I love the third door ⚡️
Recently read his book- it was great!
Had any real life results with it?
30 minutes in - this is soooo good lol.
I love your interviews. They are super inspiring and helpful for us newer creators.
Any chance you can interview any story telling animators? Like Jaidenanimation or theodd1sout or let me explain studios?
incredible
Some interesting points! But lots of ads in this one 😩
I wanna request Colin and Samir x Gary Vee or Alex Hermozi, just cold email them! lol
Where is the podcast on spotify?😅
Love your content! Education helps not just others but to yourself too. We also discovered this when we laumched our own channel :)
Colin and Samir you guys are the best I have one request for you guys can you guys interview lazarbeam he’s a Aussie RUclipsr who has worked with Mr beast and the sidemen and has heaps of subs
The Magic button is the most tempting of all ambitions. It is also the most distracting and counterproductive pieces to accomplishment. Once one can look behind the button to see what the button would be doing and then do it, are the ones that crack the code and become successful. It is not in pushing a magic button that comes success, but the desire to learn and apply what you want the magic button to do that can change the world.
Thank you for this video. I needed the reminders in it.
Oh my god GOAT is here...
As a wise man once said
viagra viagra viagra mark zuckerberg viagra
Alex looks like a multiverse Samir 😵💫😵💫
This guy is an absolute yapper. There are some things to learn from this conversation for sure, but there is so much motivational self help fluff. I hate it when people ascribe a common feeling among people to “human nature”. Stop pretending that you have such a deep understanding of how people work and speak honestly.
Congrats to him on his success, but I’m not sure I’m down with his rhetoric and i think it is just one more guy who will tell you “the most effective way to do X” which is a massive red flag to me.
"the third door" is such a privileged thing to say lmao
"Represent that any means necessary" - Nipsey Hussle, on the third door.
There is no such thing as an overnight success. Years of hard work result in a point where you are finally recognized for the effort you have given. Every famous RUclipsr mentions spending a minimum of 2-3 years making videos that nobody watches. Hard work and believing in yourself and your dreams are still the only true paths to success
