  • What will we discover on our sailing adventures on Pemba Island? We anchor in the most idyllic creek, explore the little village and feel like the "Pied Pipers".... and we paddle among the mangroves in search of the Ingezi Forest.

Awesome video, I have wondered for more than 40 years what was Pemba like. Much more authentic than most sailing videos these days.

Woow isn't that dangerous with all those people around your boat ?I'm not much of a scared person but I wouldn't trust the situation. I also sailed a lot with my parents I was around 16 years old, now I am in my fifties ,from belgium to france , netherlands , and especially the British coast with the beautiful chalk rocks , and the seeming tap water the nature is very beautiful But our mother nature there is not to be trifled with when there is storm she can get very angry. but I have been scared sometimes but my father knew what he was doing . Honestly I miss sailing on the sea
I look with nostalgia at your pictures , thank you for the nice encounters especially our French sailor from brittany , I find a nice guy
So regards from Begie have a safe trip there.
    Alex from Europe/belgium

Hi Alex Thanks for your lovely message and positive comments. You have no idea how much these kinds of messages mean to us.
Yes, you right sailing can be tricky but it’s all about risk management.
Regarding the visits to our boat, as South Africans, we are Africans.
We have like all South African grown up in a (sadly) high crime society as a result we can “read” potentially dangerous situations. Tanzania is a remarkable country…everyone is so laidback and friendly. Our danger sensors have not detected any problems…so to answer your question, in that situation, we didn’t feel any apprehension.
I am so glad you are enjoying our videos, and yes Yann is such a legend…and the humblest guy. France really seems to breed great sailors going all the way back to Bernard Moitessier.
      All the best
      Robin
