I have an OB6 module, guess I got lucky, knobs are nice and solid, smooth and nice resistance. Also have Trigon 6 keyboard and wow that is outstanding build quality. Its knobs are almost TOO stiff! I absolutely love them both, but neither quite as much as the GS E7, now THAT is one is just superb. Great video, thanks for making!!
+1 to what others have said - you're totally justified in having the complaints that you have, this is expensive, premium gear and QC should be the last thing you have to think about
Also an OB-6 desktop module owner and mine is very solid and correctly built (I only had Prophet 6 in hands and knobs felt better because totally different design tho). My knobs aren't wobbly but resistance/travel may differ from knobs to knobs but so far nothing bad.
Glad to see another hardcore fan of the Trigon 6 out there. Severely under-rated and super powerful. Sounds amazing, probably my favourite overall and I've got OB-6, Prophet 10 and many others. Also it's beautiful to use with all those features on the surface and the extras over the other 6 series. That said, I also personally LOVE the OB-6 too. The sound is very special and I’ve not heard that same character in the TEO 5 demos. I'll keep both.
So regarding the "Wobbly" Knobs. I got a OB6 I've had for years. When I got it I felt sorta the same way but got over it pretty damn quickly when realizing how good Sequentials Customer Service is. That being said. It was before the whole Focusrite thing and when Dave was still around. I have heard some people having Knobs that do not Wobble/Wiggle. It is a bit delicate at times sure, but I have the Keyboard Version. There is a bit more space for hands to move around. I wish the knobs weren't wobble, but its the Type of Pots they had at the time of release and they never really upgraded it. I am 100% ok with it since I know they will replace them if there was a real issue as well as some friends of mine would just do it if need be. Love the synth! Absolutely stunning sound. I don't see myself selling it any time soon.
TEO-5 is interesting, and I may well get one eventually, although deep down in my heart what I really want is for the SEM to go back into production. There's no denying that TEO-5 is a more robust synth, but there's something about the basic sound and architecture of a SEM that's a special magic.
If you want build quality, the S6 desktop is tank built that even Putin would put down his arms. Both T6 and OB6 do different things but the T6 sounds other worldly imo. I love the space it does with voice panning, but I think I am going a different direction now the S6 is here, it is mental, it can do drones like no other and it is so easy to use but gets complex. There is a cheat sheet that I can't get my head around, it's in the manual, and it comprises of a total of 6 shift functions lol. That's how good the UI is imo. It's not a synth for everyone, but it's fun and I am enjoying it. TEO 5 looks nice too just that I have no room for one since I removed my T5 too. Thx for the upload.

Yeah I have them both in Keyboard form, love the sound of both though. Trigon is so warm and thick with tons of harmonics, OB-6 has a very spacey/vintage sound. They make a good combo for me. I think I'd go with the Trigon if I could only have one because its more flexible.

If you don't use them often they'll get dirty. Press each one fast and hard 20+ times and they should be good for a while (if you keep using them regularly). I've got OB6, Trigon 6 , Prophet 10 etc they all do it.

That's not a wobbly knob, that shit is just broken.......have had an OB-6 desktop since it was new(DSI version) and to this day the pots are very solid and that thing is a TANK......that is just a defect worthy of a return.

And i mean realy sturdy, you cant move knob to the side at all. Maybe it is faulty device, i hope it is not a sequential trend in 2024.. By the way the brightness differences here are definitely because trigon filter in full open state are not fully opened actually. It is known that Dave tuned his recent synths having age-related hearing problems so for example first batch of prophets 5 was too dark.

I recall watching a video comparing the P6 and a real Prophet 5 triangle, and the Prophet 5's Triangle was beautiful. Trigon's triangles sounds very nice too. I suppose that's fitting. It's funny, because when the Trigon was initially released, it seems like it got a bit of a "meh" meme-ish reception. But over time I think people are getting hip to it being very nice. Perhaps the nicer of the 3 in that form factor. I look forward to your TEO-5 video. Cheers.

You can't win. You say nice things, and everybody says you're a shill. You criticize an observable problem, and I guess this happens. A large part of what makes hardware synths worth having is the physical component. If that physical element is off, there's not really much value there.
I recently found your channel and you make some of the best synth videos on RUclips. I'd be annoyed by the wobbly knobs as well.

Same here, and I bought second hand. I can only assume that Sequential has a new factory cranking out the OB6 modules, and the place sucks.

I've had multiple OB-6 keyboards and only had ONE wobbly knob on one. My current OB-6 (and Trigon 6) are perfect.

If the TEO 5 is anything like the Take 5 with the same pot resistance, that's a bad thing and something I dislike on my T5

My OB-6 module's knobs are fine, but the big push switches at the bottom are a bit glitchy.

I noticed the trigon didn’t do well either when it first launched. I loved it but at the time it was out of my size range since it was keys only.
I regret not buying a Trigon at Sam Ash when they were like 70% off. Floor model, sure, could have been worth the risk?
Given sequentials customer support it would have been worth it for sure.
