Cheating feels so “normalized” nowadays especially in media and too many folks are accepting of it. I’m so glad you stood your ground. Cheating should count as a form of abuse imo.

You're the first person I've seen say that and I completely agree! Cheating is abuse, we need to stop making fun of victims and blaming them for not leaving. Not everyone has the tools to remain calm and walk away. Why are cheaters never held accountable? Why are there no campaigns to sensibilise the public on the terrible effects on a person's mental health after being cheated on? Victims of cheaters suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD after those events and its not to be taken lightly.
I have thought of it as such (abuse) since I first experienced it. It is completely agonizing and heartbreaking emotionally. It is pure mental anguish. It also affects ones physiologically; for example, it can put you in danger of lifelong illnesses and mental trauma (which affects your ability to feed your body nutritionally, and practice self care, hygiene--as she mentioned in the video).
Additionally, it's not just the partner that suffers, but also if there are children in the family, they also suffer great emo/mental anguish that last a lifetime to undo and heal from. It can even bring death by way of aids, or suicide; to both to mother and unborn child/ren, or the baby can be born with STI's. Also, it can lead to addiction to alcohol and other drugs, which leads to an overall diminished quality of life.
So much abuse!
Lastly, it is also financial abuse, given that most cheaters are spending money that should be for the household on the person they are cheating with, i.e. dinners, dates, gifts, hotels (such in this case), gas to drive around, the list can be endless!!
Cheating might fall under sexual abuse. I'll have to ask a qualified therapist and/or do research online.

Please never feel like u r to blame for ur husband's disgusting behavior. U did what u could to keep the relationship and home together. U did ur very best. No excuse for cheating! Losing ur marriage & the person u loved is hard, but remember it's his biggest loss, not yours. It only goes up from here. Prayers.

And when I discovered the truth and confronted him, him saying to me “I’m sorry that I’ve fallen in love with someone else” crushed my world more than physical cheating. I’ve never expected that of someone who was so good to me to treat me like shit. I had rough months after that, was drinking a lot to cope with pain. 2 years later I’m feeling better, but have a lifelong trauma that I don’t think I’ll be able to get past and tryst someone again …

This is a prime example of why you should NEVER judge a book by its cover. This incredible, inspirational, strong woman was going through absolutely hell due to the man that wad meant to love, protect and cherish her. This was honestly so refreshing to hear. I’ve been in a 5 year relationship(got together at 19) and of course dealt with cheating b/c this was our 1st adult relationship. Everyone…and I mean EVERYONE around me thought he was perfect b/c he took care of me…baby the cheating was devastating and ALWAYS caught me off guard b/c he NEVER missed a beat in our relationship, even when we did spontaneous things & had all his passwords, and even would randomly talk to his friends(ironically they genuinely didn’t know he was doing that). I felt like a clown for taking him back but like you said, when you love someone and he’s holding EVERYTHING down financially…you take them back. I’m at that point now where I’m ready to let the relationship go this year which is odd b/c I’m seeing alot of women cutting their relationships this year…

Same sis I’m 7 years in my first everything and my boyfriend doesn’t believe in depression so me having depression anxiety and adhd is baffling to him because for him he can flip a switch and be fine. And I’m trying to start a business and he’s complaining about sex and the fact that he shouldn’t have to help up keep the house because he takes the financial brunt of things because he has a stable job. I feel like I’m constantly talking to a brick wall. There’s other factors and details but I feel exhausted trying to get understanding and trying to figure out who I am doesn’t help.

He is not emotionally available for you and it could cause you a great deal of pain especially if your dealing with depression. and relationships are about understanding fuck beliefs. I hate to say this but a person can only love you at their level and if he truly loved and cared for u he would try to understand you as a woman and make sure your mentally good as his partner. He complaining about sex but isn't seeing his girl is depressed....how can she even present herself to you in the way she or you wants smh. If you do stay you have to buckle down and work on yourself and not depend on him to understand or emotionally be there for you ....once a man sees that you start to invest in yourself they react to that.
