Thank you for adding this! I have been waiting for about thirty years to see these clips. I didn't get a chance to know Clara but talked to her sister Willa a few times on the phone

"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" should always be sung exactly this way.

I suppose when Clara was younger her voice held up better but by this time here she didn`t seem to have that much vocal stamina. It was nice to get a chance to see her talking at the beginning.... Thanks for the upload.

Calra and her group literally went into all of world with gospel. Not just to different countries, but to clubs, playboy etc. Not a lot of Gospel artists went everywhere back then as it would have deemed "worldly" Clara was a trailblazer. I would have loved to see something with Aretha Franklin and Clara performing together .

At 7:53, is that the bionic woman in the audience? Seems taboo but they were trendsetters and took the gospel anywhere they could. I imagine church folk back then flipped when they saw the places they performed at.

Of course…it wouldn’t be them dusty stale church folk if they didn’t condemn something they didn’t agree with. Meanwhile, most of them preach the gospel to each other, not to the world…don’t tell them that tho. They’re also easily offended 😂

This was NOT taped at the Playboy Mansion . This was a variety show taped at CBS Television City in Hollywood.

Well. . .everyone seems to like, I think it’s ridiculous but I mean, they were centered around entertainment. They just happen to sing gospel.
