they were very fun arcade like games would love to see remakes, but still holding out for the White council game, had so much promise too bad it was canceled. :(
Yeah, there should be an open world rpg of middle earth. I mean this game is good but it's an rpg set in middle earth.. and on top of that it's open world. It's just not the same.
ThatGuyNamedElliot its not entirely an rpg, because you don't get to change gear or weapons, but you do get to upgrade, so I am not really sure if it applies
***** no its not in middle earth, its in mordor, I mean I want a game where you can choose to be a dwarf or a hobbit for example and go to gondor or the shire. In this game you cant choose your character or where in middle earth you play
7:13 I like that the difficulty levels are contextualised with the enemies, so I can freely choose whether I want it easier or not rather than through menus.
I feel disappointed on ubisoft for ACU, they left current-gen completely out and tried to fix it with rouge (which is pretty much an AC4 skin). but that's not the point here,, i think the approach for shadow of mordor is great, even if it is similar to AC or the latest batman games
I don't think it will beat Unity in terms of next gen. However it depends on what you are looking for. Unity offers a larger more realistic and probably better looking map. On the other hand shadow of mordor has this interesting nemesis system which we haven't seen before in a video game. It just depends on what is best suited for your taste. Since I'm a huge assassins creed fan I will definitely pick up unity but I will probably buy shadow of mordor as well because it seems like a REALLY awsome game as well :)
So let me get this straight... If I were to take this nemesis system away; it would become the standard hack n' slash? Because so far; that's all they ever talk about and that's all that they've seemingly done with the next-gen tech. I want to see masses of different enemies. Caves, mountains, forrests of those in the movies with loads of different species. Quests upon quests. Hidden treasures.... Instead... We get the nemesis system which will get boring quick if that's all there is. Combat does look great however... Credit given where credit is due.
This game is set in Mordor and in Tolkien's books it is described as having 3 environments: mountain, volcanic, and grasslands. So that's all you'll be seeing. They have revealed a few animals but again this game is set in Mordor, so only a few species can survive in that kind of harsh environment. But I do have high hopes for this game
In my opinion this game will help bring a new era of open world action/adventure games. The Nemesis System is a HUGE installment in gaming, and will help open the door for more and better opportunities in these types of games. Yes, this game will probably get a little repetitive, however, for the people claiming its a re-skin of Assassins Creed, I believe you are widely mistaken. The combat in Shadows of Mordor is almost flawless, switching between Wraith and Ranger is seamless and fast. I will play this game because through my eyes its offering something fresh and new. Not just another sequel from former platforms.
Wow, I love how at like around 16:00, you can totally tell he's trying to die to show an example of death, but he just fails, and ends up having to let that warg thing kill him. Lol
They ask this guy is the game scripted when it is not , but when a game like fifa is scripted they never ask them a question about fifa been scripted .
Well I would love if they stopped scripting fifa and maybe change the gameplay some and make them look realer , I would love a good fair football game , reason why I say fair is because scripted is not fair :(
PrimitiveGaz wait, what in FIFA is scripted ? I don't play sports games, but I've played enough of FIFA to know that it's a great sports game and is not scripted in the least. Do you know what 'scripted' means ?
Obviously I no what scripted is not typing huge explanation , look it up fifa scripted or youtube videos fifa 13 fifa 14 scripted , fifa 15 will also be scripted .
let me tell you that's not called scripting. In that sense, you MUST have some 'scripting' in a football game, how else do you think the game will make sense ? That's literally the only way the AI can actually play the game. Those 'scripting' videos I watched on youtube were made by people who probably don't understand video games very well. They don't really understand where to use the word 'scripting' either. Besides, while playing on harder difficulties, ofcourse you will see some of that. You can't expect everything to be simulated perfectly and physically in these games. The game will just be a complete mess without that 'scripting' because the AI won't know what to do. It's not that EA Sports are purposely lying or downgrading the experience. As time goes on, we will have seemingly less and less of this 'scripted' behaviour, and that's because of improved simulation, more believable AI, more physics interactions and so on. So, no, you can't use that word here. It doesn't make sense to say that about this game.
MAN this game looks badass. Such a treat to have something properly next-gen and original gameplay mechanics as well as cool graphics and animation, and not just more realistic explosions in the yawn game designs of all the Halo, COD, Battlefield and Killzone crap they keep throwing at us.
So I have two questions: 1. The objective is to raise an army against Sauron at the end. What happens if you kill all the orc leaders (not dominating a single one)? 2. This demo showed quite a few orc leaders getting killed in less than 18 minutes. If they can be killed/dominated so quickly, can the game really be completed in just a few hours?
really excited for this game, but there are two problems with the lore. According to the appendices, gondor was driven out of mordor during the great plague, about two hundred years before the hobbit. this is when the nazgul return to mordor. The game takes place between the hobbit and LOTR, so obviously they changed it. Also, Celebrimbor is an elf. Tolkien made it pretty clear that only men could become wraiths, so that doesnt really make sense. Either way, I'm sure the game will be fun and I'm gonna get it anyway
This is one of my most anticipated next-gen games. Melding highly strategy and tactical gameplay with something to do with the narrative - just what we need. Gameplay seems heaps better and harder than any of the Assassin's Creed games so FAR (8 games by the end of the year!)! Designed only for the hardcore male gamers like me who've been missing the halcyon years of the 90's and early 2000's!
Celebrimbor was not killed way before the last alliance? I read unfinished tales and the silmarillion and if I am not mistaken by the time this game story is Celebrimbor should be in the Halls of Mandos (aka The Underworld)....
The evolution of this series will be very similar to the Batman Arkham series seeing as both start in a concentrated area of the world and will probably expand to include the entire world
IMO there's nothing wrong with using a proven formula if other aspects of your game are this innovative. Now it'd be a lie to say I didn't wish the combat was a bit more original, but it's not like it's bad gameplay, it actually looks a lot of fun.
The thing is with melee based games......it becomes difficult to innovate beyond hack-n-slash esque gameplay. Although Kingdom Come Deliverance has an amazing looking system
Whoa, this game looks really hard to get into. In this Demo I asked myself a couple times: "And what would happen if he had did that?" , but I think if you're into the game it's really a lot of fun.
A nemisis system for Halo would be cool, display the Elites and Brutes of different ranks and appearances such as these orcs are displayed would be awesome.
THAT WOULD BE FUCKIN AWESOME.....too bad it does not work with a lvl based FPS, maybe with they did an open world RPG/FPS style playing through the whole Halo timeline? (like Mass Effect but with Halo mechanics)
Problems I've seen so far, no weapon options, no clothing options, no customization, it didn't show any sort of skill tree, doesnt seem to be much interaction with the world or npc's, and the story seems to be heavily dependent on Lord of the Rings. This will probably be a 7.5 - 8 out of 10. Im more interested in the new Dragons Age.
There is no weapon options because in lotr a sword has an story of it's own, That's why there is no weapon options. There is different costumes that you can get. There is skill trees. This is when Sauron returned to the black gate and killed pretty much everyone, probably why there is not interaction.
There is a skill tree for his ranger side and wraith side. You can add runes to your weapons to improve them the way you like. The interaction with the world is the whole orc army. That pretty big dude. All the orcs are npc and you can interact with them a lot. The no shit the story is dependent on Lord of the Rings because its based off the franchise. And adding loot to the game would be pointless because most of there weapons shit compered to yours.
Funny I forgot about all the backlash this game got because everyone thought this game was biting Assassins creed. This game looks nothing like AC games, in fact I dont even think AC when I watch these demonstrations.
This game looks like dragon's dogma but cooler. Combat looks fun and great to watch. If it's kind of open world and have a day night cycle and weather could be perfect.
I swear Troy Baker is the new Nolan North literally every game.
I wish they would make a Lord of the rings game like the old ps2 games. Or an hd collection the two towers and return of the king. Such amazing games.
they were very fun arcade like games would love to see remakes, but still holding out for the White council game, had so much promise too bad it was canceled. :(
Why isn´t there an open world RPG of middle earth yet? I would play the shit out of it
You're watching one
Yeah, there should be an open world rpg of middle earth. I mean this game is good but it's an rpg set in middle earth.. and on top of that it's open world. It's just not the same.
ThatGuyNamedElliot its not entirely an rpg, because you don't get to change gear or weapons, but you do get to upgrade, so I am not really sure if it applies
avms25 ah sorry! I didn't realise!
***** no its not in middle earth, its in mordor, I mean I want a game where you can choose to be a dwarf or a hobbit for example and go to gondor or the shire. In this game you cant choose your character or where in middle earth you play
I'm getting this over Destiny.
7:13 I like that the difficulty levels are contextualised with the enemies, so I can freely choose whether I want it easier or not rather than through menus.
I'm curious how many orc names they had to make upfor this game :D
Cannot wait for this
Share your thoughts on whether you think this will be better than AC Unity or not
better probably!
TexasBoyCapCity It is has the same sort of counter attack counter attack style of fighting in the AC and batman games
CyborgBurger Why not both?
I feel disappointed on ubisoft for ACU, they left current-gen completely out and tried to fix it with rouge (which is pretty much an AC4 skin). but that's not the point here,, i think the approach for shadow of mordor is great, even if it is similar to AC or the latest batman games

I can't wait for this to come out! Also, no one gives a shit diegocat. Game looks awesome, I hope it lives up to the hype.
I wish more games utilise a feature similar to the Nemesis system. The core of it is simply amazing.
This to me seems like a God of War, Farcry, Batman Arkham, and Assassins Creed blended together with a LoTR skin... And I love it...
Knew from when I first heard/read about this game it was gunna be good, about a month before release and it looks brilliant.
Super exited for this game! The one thing i would love to se more of though is character customization.
next gen officially begins with this game.
So let me get this straight... If I were to take this nemesis system away; it would become the standard hack n' slash? Because so far; that's all they ever talk about and that's all that they've seemingly done with the next-gen tech. I want to see masses of different enemies. This
You just described The Witcher and Dragon Age :)

The combat in Shadows of Mordor is almost flawless, switching between Wraith and Ranger is seamless and fast. I will play this game because through my eyes its offering something fresh and new. Not just another sequel from former platforms.
It looks really ambitious and it succeeds with a lot of the gameplay elements
Man, this game looks so amazing. The Nemesis System is awesome.
I like the concept of him not dying when he actually dies, reminds me a bit of dark souls death mechanics, which I like :)
Wow, I love how at like around 16:00, you can totally tell he's trying to die to show an example of death, but he just fails, and ends up having to let that warg thing kill him. Lol
I hwve so many games to buy and almost no money to spend.
That whole blue glowing wraith stuff reminds me of Kingdoms of Amalur.
They ask this guy is the game scripted when it is not , but when a game like fifa is scripted they never ask them a question about fifa been scripted .
You know that FIFA is not that good game and nobody really cares about her that much....
Well I would love if they stopped scripting fifa and maybe change the gameplay some and make them look realer , I would love a good fair football game , reason why I say fair is because scripted is not fair :(

Michael looks so fucking friendly...i would hang out with that guy
I was skeptical at first but this won me over, I m looking forward to this now
MAN this game looks badass. Such a treat to have something properly next-gen and original gameplay mechanics as well as cool graphics and animation, and not just more realistic explosions in the yawn game designs of all the Halo, COD, Battlefield and Killzone crap they keep throwing at us.
LOL was the intro music the beat to Milky Milkshake by Smosh?
I though I was the only one that notoced
*noticed
I see they've polished it up since past demos
ah man i cant wait for this game!
The characters look brilliant! Looks great.
An assassin's perspective in the Lord of the Rings universe. The hierarchy system of Sauron's army is innovative.
An assassin that can kick A LOT of ass on the battlefield ;)
It sure as hell is, we have never seen anything like that before
I heard that the orc names are randomly generated, I'm really hoping I meet one called Larry or Bob
I cant wait for this to come out
gameplay starts at 4:00
So I have two questions:
I love the AC style to this! This could be a big time game if it pans out as well as I think.
My most hyped game this year!
Looks cool, I've been waiting for a game like this.
really excited for this game, but there are two problems with the lore. According to the appendices, gondor was driven out of mordor during the great plague, about two hundred years before the hobbit. this is when the nazgul return to mordor. Tolkien made it pretty clear that only men could become wraiths, so that doesnt really make sense. Either way, I'm sure the game will be fun and I'm gonna get it anyway
This game will be my first purchase for my new PS4 this Christmas. 'Assassin's Creed: Unity' will be my second.
This game looks awesome and I like the gameplay so much the combat and free-running looks amazing.
This is one of my most anticipated next-gen games. Melding highly strategy and tactical gameplay with something to do with the narrative - just what we need. My Game of the year
This game comes out on my birthday
Im guessing the ESL one competition was going on in the background. :P
Celebrimbor was not killed way before the last alliance? I read unfinished tales and the silmarillion and if I am not mistaken by the time this game story is Celebrimbor should be in the Halls of Mandos (aka The Underworld)....
looks like a great game. Even though I know nothing about Lord of the Rings, I will still get it
Prenotato e in attesa,non vedo l'ora!
once this and destiny comes out, I wont see the light for years to come.
If this were one of your most anticipated games I would think you'd know more about the game...
This game looks freakin' sweet.
Looks better than dragon age! Can't wait.
My concern is the map size and it's density. I don't want to run around just killing everything in sight.
The evolution of this series will be very similar to the Batman Arkham series seeing as both start in a concentrated area of the world and will probably expand to include the entire world
PRAY IT DOES!!!
man i cant wait to play this, it looks fun and innovative with the nemesis system.
I wish there was like ten more minutes of gameplay.
They both look amazing! I'm a long time according fan, but you can't really compare them, they're both different, it's not like cod and halo.
this game looks great, i hope its going to be on PC.
No need to worry mate, it is coming to pc :)
PC, on steam October 2.
The guy that left assassin's creed made this game with batman layout if the game that you don't like then your not interested
@11:58 there is a graphics glitch and his hands go through the cloth....
Batman Arkham Knight gamescom gameplay soon?
this game is my precious!
***** You have the option to turn it off. They talked about it in an earlier interview.
IMO there's nothing wrong with using a proven formula if other aspects of your game are this innovative.
Now it'd be a lie to say I didn't wish the combat was a bit more original, but it's not like it's bad gameplay, it actually looks a lot of fun.

THAT WOULD BE FUCKIN AWESOME.....too bad it does not work with a lvl based FPS, maybe with they did an open world RPG/FPS style playing through the whole Halo timeline? (like Mass Effect but with Halo mechanics)
As I love LOTR movies/books I am so buzzed for this game! It's like a dream come true :D
Thank god I found out about it a month before the release because I wouldn't of survived any longer lol
Oh but more than either im excited for the Witcher 3!!
There is no weapon options because in lotr a sword has an story of it's own, That's why there is no weapon options. There is different costumes that you can get. There is skill trees. This is when Sauron returned to the black gate and killed pretty much everyone, probably why there is not interaction.
It's not an RPG
Emmett McElhone Exactly. Not a full RPG but with RPG elements.
There is a skill tree for his ranger side and wraith side. You can add runes to your weapons to improve them the way you like. The interaction with the world is the whole orc army. And adding loot to the game would be pointless because most of there weapons shit compered to yours.
I don't think this should be compared with AC just because of the parkour, it's a totally different game.
Did Nolan North just do his Penguin voice from batman for one of the orcs? (Last few minutes of gameplay you can hear it)
This game should be a nickel for purchase
This game looks brilliant. Time to tear myself away from LotrO and head back to my XBOX.
SEMPTEMBER 30 I CANT WAIT
I don't want to hear them talking, I came to watch gameplay and hear the game.
I'm going to wait for reviews. Not convinced this game deserves full price.
I like what I see. It kinda reminds me of AC though..which isn't a bad thing at all actually.
This and Far Cry 4 are my top most wanted for the rest of the year.
Oh I'm getting this! I have no fucking clue what's going on in this game but I'm buying it.
Imagine the nemesis system used for a mafia game like the godfather
That would be truly amazing. I would play the shit out of that.
Godfather 3 man
Ironically during an interview someone asked then to make a Mafia game never know instead of branding its threatening or something.
Oliver Lindhorst OHHHHHHH the irony
My only fear is that the Nemesis System will eventually get repetitive, still looking amazing though, definitely buying.
does the game look short to anyone else? it seems like there 4 big leaders you need to take out and then after that most of the games finished.
There is only one gollum: Andy Serkis period.
Can't help but thinking that guy looks a little like Jude Law from the side.
I have a question, is there a main story line or you beat the game once you defeat all the main enemies from that "enemy tree"?
i've been waiting for this for a long time... on October 2nd we meet face to face Orc Lords.. HEHAHAH!
Great interview :) much better than what gamespot did with them at E3.
Of course you move the release date .To crowded in October lol
Funny I forgot about all the backlash this game got because everyone thought this game was biting Assassins creed. This game looks nothing like AC games, in fact I dont even think AC when I watch these demonstrations.
It looks like a Prince of Persia Warrior Within Next Gen :D even the main character looks like the prince lol
Well bro im pretty sure Ubisoft had buried the Prince of Persia series since they started the Assassin Creed one :/
17:07
It should have been promoted no?
The warg is now a pack leader :D?
I like the combat system, it's looks good like the Batman games.
This game looks like dragon's dogma but cooler. Combat looks fun and great to watch. If it's kind of open world and have a day night cycle and weather could be perfect.
the gameplay is good but the MAP is so fuckin small i would like them to extend a map a little but i know that the will not
please don't delay this...
U know what nobody is asking about if this game going to have the same or similar epic music from lotr
Can't wait for this game!
The combat looks better than AC games in my opinion, more fluid.
100 times better it is my most anticipated game this year and a open FUCKing world game in middle Earth with tons of lore. He'll ya
Awsome game! When does it come out?
