During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Robert Kennedy was given the nuclear bunker card but refused it stating that if he was going to die he wanted too with his family. I wonder if that's where they got the story line for Josh.

The door they planned on sending him through really just took him to the back alley by the trashcans. Secret Service wasn't even going out there with him either. Similar thing with JFK. He wanted his wife and kids to go to the bunker, but Jackie refused. He wanted them to be spared in armageddon, but she flatly told him she would not leave him. They stayed put.
These clips really drive home the insanity of the fact that there has never been a blu-ray release of this series. Sure they exist from time to time on certain streaming services but the series tend to disappear just when I want to watch it.

I really hate this scene. The men standing there smug and superior and talking about how wonderful the women are when the women have inferior positions.
They ALL "serve at the pleasure of the President". Regardless of the status of their position. Each woman is treated with respect and admiration. And in individual ways hold evident power. The men in the scene were not speaking or behaving "smug and superior", but with awe. One assumes you're substantively unfamiliar with 'The West Wing'.
