It was good to hear how you have managed to make the best of a situation that would have completely derailed the lives of most people. Though I will never relax in the mission to protect my girls from negative influences, it brings me peace to know that when my girls come to the point of facing great opposition I have someone to point to and show them that it is possible to succeed no matter what. You have proven yourself to be a brilliant and driven individual. You should proud of everything you have accomplished.

One of the questions I wanted to ask or hear an answer for is: “If porn is a part of a society, how would you change the industry that would allow a portrayal of self empowerment etc.” Because she was inspiring young girls and saying not to do it. I’m curious as to what she would do to change the industry or how she would direct young girls into what actually happens to them in the industry. I loved this interview and thought it was really thought provoking :)

@Autumn Potato While this is a nice idea, I think that removing the big companies and reducing regulation would actually increase bad things like sex trafficking, revenge porn, exploitation of minors, and STD's. Like she said in the interview, even the cam sites are run by these big companies, and they had her on payroll to produce "non-professional" content. The issue here is that the big companies are quietly endorsed by the government, and the regulatory protections only cover age, consent, and health (broadly) of performers. There is no regulation of payment, no contract restrictions or guidelines, and no safety net if a performer chooses to leave the company or industry.
The self-employed sex workers using online "freemium" models are making a lot of money and are well protected, but only if they are strictly online. Unfortunately, there are many examples of people like this moving into real-life escorting or performing (because there is money in it), and from there it is a very slippery slope into the negative aspects of the industry. Even for people working with big companies, if you're not in the top 10 performers of your genre/niche, you are very easily subjected to things like rampant drug use, unqualified plastic surgeons, escorting side-hustles, and generally being taken advantage of by the people running the show.
I remember her giving interviews talking about how empowering porn was for her, and how much money she was going to pay to put towards university, and I was thinking. "Start the clock..." Because the truth comes out at some point. This is not empowering for women. This is preying on them. Good for you to get out Mia.

I really appreciated Mia's openness and perspective towards self love and empowerment.
