This is my first time watching one of your videos. I can’t believe that house is still in great condition after sitting for so long and having the windows broken and the doors wide-open but it doesn’t seem to me that people or vandalizing it too much.
I wish you knew more of the story of when they passed away and how long that house has been sitting there just like that, like preserved from when they were alive.
You are so respectful of the things there, most people would just grab a bunch of stuff because there is a bunch of stuff in there that is worth money, especially the money jars Lol but thank you so much for respecting them!

Absolutely love your comment and I greatly appreciate the time you took to write it, subscribe and view the channel. This one was actually very lucky to not have been vandalized or looted. Most places similar to this one are a completely different story. The very last date I saw on something was 2001, so that's when I'm assuming they had passed or left. And I believe they passed at that time because everything was just kind of left the way it was. I try to touch as little as possible and just document what I find. This little couple deserves nothing but love and that's all my subscribers are giving to them. If only they knew. Thank you again for the kind words and the time you took!

Your vet can help if something happens and you are hospitalized or otherwise incapacitated. A key can be kept there for example and they can be notified to come in to care for them. Pet sitters are also bonded so they are safe. Mine was a blessing when I suddenly went in hospital, I called her and she saw to my fur babies.

It broke my heart to see that fairly recent painting from the photo I glimpsed on the bed. She was such a beauty and I bet a darling. Someone had that made gor her as a special gift.
I bet this was a place they downsized to nearer to town when they got older. Often folks in that generation didn't do wills and things get stuck in probate. I'm an only child and it took over TWO YEARS to settle Mom's estate. And nothing was complicated. Make a simple will at least folks. It helps the kids. ❤️

Awesome find brother. I know it was obviously painted those colors much more recent than some of the stuff we find, but I still love those colors.
Growing up in the 80s and even the 90s, everything got painted freaking white. White walls, white ceilings, white wood trim, white everything. It's nice to see some color in life again.
Anyways I enjoyed that and I just wanted to point out the fact that I really appreciate how delicate you were with everything. I've seen so many people on RUclips and even been out exploring what friends of my own that aren't necessarily disrespectful towards the stuff but they pick things up and slam them down or put them somewhere else or just leave Cabinets and Doors open. I like to leave everything exactly the way I found it. You did that well and even the small stuff like when you felt bad about stepping on the clothes, it's good to see people out there like that. Especially with all the destruction become across these places as well. I'll never understand how people destroy these places, especially historic ones.
Anyways, I'm rambling, maybe venting lol.

Weird how this brought me to tears. I imagine that old lady dying alone. Her last few years could not have been pleasant. I think I am going to find someone who lives alone, is old and offer to do a housecleaning for free. I think I want to leave this world myself trying to help others. Not with money because I have none but just doing a good deed here and there throughout the remainder of my life. It makes me very sad to think of old people dying alone.

That was very sweet of you as this is something we should do for the elderly. We are not obligated, but it separates you from the people who don't have the heart. I bet you she looks down on you and smiles.. We are unsure what kind of help she had so I'm hoping it was something. It looks sad, but there is a chance she had a good life even toward the end. If she only knew how many people care, people who have never met her. Thank you very much for the view, sub and comment.

I've found a few people with her name but no record of next of kin or anything like that. The school she went to has a possibility of being around five different schools. The next step is to contact each one and see if they have any record of her name. Once I figure out as much as I can, I'll make a follow-up video. Again, thank you!

Even an unoccupied property would have an owner's name at the recorder's office. You still should be able to buy it, even if it is scheduled for demo. Sometimes demolitions can take years. You may want to hire an attorney to help you figure out who has control over the property. Depending on the circumstances, you may be able to buy it at a tax sale if there are unpaid taxes. If it's in illinois, I have a few people that work for the state that do some digging for me, and give me all the info I ask for usually. There has only been a handful of places that have the original owner's names on them. Generally an old couple that prepaid for a decade in advance or so.

I really want to do that. Because you are very right, everything will eventually be demolished and nothing saved. I just didn't want to be seen removing items as if I were stealing something. When exploring, I try to leave everything exactly the way I find it. But that is a great idea because this little family deserves better than what will inevitably happen. Thank you, and thanks a ton for the view.

Why are there no cobwebs if this has been abandoned so long?

    • @grimstravels3416

I actually come across that quite a bit. My assumption is usually when I see that, it's in a place with open windows and doors, and possibly the massive amount of wind is prohibiting cobwebs from forming. Just a guess. Thanks a ton for the view and comment.

Most of the places I go to do have the property either on the market or the city has them on a demolition list but don't want to spend the money to actually do the work so they just sit for sometimes decades. I usually contact the city and get as many questions answered, unless I just stumble across a place and feel I don't have time for it. I truly appreciate the time you took to view and comment!
