- I am enjoying watching the spring flowers burst into bloom in my yard. I am also catching up on some seed sowing in my greenhouse. Come see what is happening in my yard today.
I grow flowers and vegetables in Saskatchewan, Canada. My cold hardiness zone is zone 4. I have an average of 110 frost free growing days each year. The past few years have seen our temperatures go as low as -37C (-34.6F) to as high as 37C (98.6F). Come see what and how I grow in these conditions.

Yay summer blooms in your part of the world!
California poppy is a self seeding annual. your summer is what's important
I always admire your yard so much! We’re trying to get more flowers growing here in the Alberta back yard, but it’s a work in progress. That bee was magnificent! I haven’t seen a single insect in my yard yet,but then again,it did snow yesterday. Spring near the foothills…can snow in June🤷🏻♂️
Spring weather can be very unpredictable! It was great to see that first bee of the season.
This year the crocus and daffs came out earlier than usual here in southern Ontario. Looking forward to the tulips, the smaller species tulips already came and went, and the darwin and others just starting to bloom! Got a whole load of separating and potting up for my flowers and tomatoes, etc, and I might start my squashes and cucumbers etc this week if the weather holds ok for the night.
Lots of fun in the garden this time of year!
How do you grow seeds in little cells like that without them getting leggy? I have no luck
and always seem to have to start over. I use a heat mat and pink grow lights.
I don’t use heat for much more than peppers or anything that specifically states it requires heat to germinate. Too much heat can cause leggy seedlings. Even when I use a heat mat I turn it off after germination has occurred.
@@PrairiePlantgirl thank you so much I was using it for everything. 😀
@user-KayMelan11 hopefully that is the issue and you will have more success removing the heat.
