This is false. It wasn't a choice between Michael and Kate. The gun was in Kate's direction and no one could have predicted the bullet would ricochet and hit Michael. That is literally what happens before our eyes in this scene. The only way Sonny is responsible is in the broad sense that someone targeted him and his family paid the price.
Carly knew about his lifestyle when she decided to marry him. He has been shot multiple times and she could have left him for the safety of herself and her child.

Actually this was a dumb story. Because Sonny loved Michael and would lay down his life for him. The writers went crazy with these storylines after LW came onto the canvas. They just threw Sonny's code out the window. I don't even like Sonny's character like that.
I love sonny and so much I can overlook but i still have a hard time forgetting he jumped on Kate not his son that was unlike him no matter what he always loved his kids more this was poor writing. I think the shooting would of been dramatic enough without that part.
It's a hard pill to swallow, BUT he saw the scope pointed towards himself and Kate. The bullet ricocheted off the shelf. Nonetheless, horrible. Maybe if Devil was a better shot ;)

The reality, is the whole incenident should have never happened in the first place,if kate hadn't taken michael there in the first place with out Carly's permission she is Michael's mother and she got full custody years ago in 2004 of both the boys,and the judge told carly ,sonny could only see them at her desgression so the whole thing is mute at this point its Kate's fault all of it.🙄

Michael was farther away than Kate and wasn't the shooter's target. If the bullet hadn't bounced, he wouldn't have been hit.
