As a big guy myself I'm glad I found you. Totally agree on clothing, I've spent more time looking for clothing than anything else. And wide sleeping bags too - now using a Thermarest quilt (that could still be a bit wider) with a homemade micro-fleece bag and Sea To Summit liner as a modular system. It's ironic really as it's us big people that need to get out and get the exercise!

Since this video i finally found a good option for a bag through Western Mountaineering with the purchase of their expander. Only problem is I almost had to sell my first born for it. Glad you commented. Nice to meet you.

Thank's for the tips man. I'm about 375 right now. I'm quite active though and have been all my life. Just not enough I guess. I'm planning and saving to through hike the AT in 2026. Not just for weight loss but that's definitly part of it. I've been bitten by the bug. I've been day hiking as much as I can. My longest day yet was 14 miles. 7 in 7 out. I was sore for about 3 days after 😂. I think i can do this.

Your photos and shots are always awesome looking. I wish I had your camera knowledge. It really makes for a great video. I can recommend the hobo hammocks for us 350lbs + people they are very safe and feel good you can get a pretty flat lay and role around pretty good too. I’ve been testing one out for a while now I love em and they have a great set of straps too. Pair it with a quality tarp and build up a set around that it can work anywhere anytime

Super fun trail to try is my favorite Ron trail, I call them, short, flat, rewarding! Ok mountain loop ice caves has two parking lots, on the other side of the road between the two parking lots is coal lake road, gravel about 2 1/2 miles long to the trail head goes to round lake which is a volcano vent! But the secret is about a 1/8 of a mile before the the trail head parking is a different parking spot with a cement bathroom! Way out in the middle of know where which comes in handy because if you just turn around and walk across the parking lot and up the hill 20 steps you will see you are at coal lake it’s only about 100 feet away from the parking lot! My favorite Ron hiking trail!

Man, I have an odd question. I have been in the outdoors alot of my life, but always on day trips and rarely overnight in the backcountry. All of that to ask, do you have any tips for a fellow big guy when going #2 in the woods? I have experimented but have not found a great option. Typically a log or large branch at the right heigth is my go to.
