Great Benz and love the open coupe lines. I’ve got the E550 sedan, basically stock Sport package and air suspension. Yeah you missed the point of the car. It’s a GT designed to carry a German businessman over the Alps to Italy and back at 100mph+. It’s not a drift car lol.

I think this is a 5.5L v8 and not the Bi turbo 4.7L. The 4.7L has great aftermarket support and can achieve 540hp with just a tune from Renntech.
Yeah this is the last year of the NA 2012 and up is when they went TT. You can do a lot more with those

The speed limiter can be removed. It's pretty simple. I had mine removed while in Germany. It's just a program in the ECU that be changed with the Mercedes disgnostic scanner thru the OBD port. My C350 is set to 155. My friend had his E350 unlocked totally and it would run about 175. As you may know, the European cars, even the 2.0 L 4 cylinders run 155 mph. Like I said, it's just the limiter in the ECU. I believe all the unlocked Mercedes will run up to 175 mph.

I have the same car, manual up/down shifts are way faster in sport mode, try it out! Speed limiter can also be brought up to 155 with simple variant coding.

Thank you for this. I just bought my first E class yesterday. I'm coming from a 2010 GL450 to this. I was wondering how it handles around curves? Idk if I missed that part on the video or what happened. I am wondering what your opinion is on tge handling of this car. I have the sport package, with a tuned suspension and I love a car that can take curves at speed instead of just balls out, straight away power and speed!
I think the handling is actually fantastic for how heavy the car is! The suspension they manufactured for this model is pretty intricate and well thought out. This has honestly been the most confidence inspiring car I’ve ever driven on a backroad!
@@WyattKendrah I can go with that and I just got tired of the maintenance on the GL450. It sucks to be nickel and dimed by a Mercedes-Benz!
The average Mercedes owner wants something easy to drive and powerful. Of course is luxurious and quiet. "It drives like a Mercedes!" They also won't mess with the car and take it to the dealer. If that's you, this car is perfect. As a used car, and car enthusiast, it's a boring car.
I’m a car enthusiast and trust me this is a great first car for dipping your toes in. Especially if your a money pinching college student.

Buy an American Muscle car that will die at 90,000 miles and make a lot of noise. I own a 2014 E550 convertible, it is precious, comfortable and still a head turner with a lot of get-up-and go.
My dad is considering getting this same exact car but the convertible.
It has 122,000 miles. Any advice or input?
I did weistec almost to much power for the streets . Will definitely lose traction in 1st and 2nd
Weistec does nothing. The 5.5 can’t be tuned. At all. You’re getting maybe 20 extra horses. This isn’t the m278 that can be tuned to AMG levels.

Absolutely agree with everything you said! Got the same damage btw :) I hit my fender and a headlight, but I found a manufacturer in China 🇨🇳 and I bought 2 headlights for 700$(new) and yes is adaptive, and for the fender I’ve paid 75$ or 150$ don’t remember (aluminum), in US it’s about 450$
And yes it was no chance to find a good diffuser on it so I ordered a custom kit from Russia 🇷🇺, front lip, skits, diffuser (custom size from the new E63) and brabus tips
Tomorrow gonna install it, will see what it looks like
But overall the car makes a good job, you can put a girl in it and feel good, they think is about 2019(if is polished and has nice wheels)😅, and another day you can easily smoke some mustang GT or scatpack, but yes something is wrong with the character, but if you have only 1 car and if you want to sit on two chairs at the same time, it’s a good option
Btw did you lose some HP when deleted the resonator? Bcs I definitely lost, after I deleted it and was driving home I was so disappointed, the difference was huge
I’m glad you like it! Thanks for all the tips too! As far as power being lost I’m not too sure, I didn’t feel that much of a difference but I’m sure there was a few hp lost since it hasn’t been tuned yet.
what years do you all have ? If you have the V8 TT you'll see those massive gains. With the NA version you'll see a little power increase but really the benefit for the NA tune is no limiter
Yeah I have the 2011, the last year of the NA. Wish I would have gone with the 2012 and up!
I have the 2012 TT with MASSIVE gains from Blackboost and Weistec. Limiter removed. I have ZERO complaints and do not share the sentiment about this car. You need to pay to play. Would you buy a Rolls Royce and then complain about a $40,000 part replacement? If you can afford this car then a $1,500 ECU tune should be nothing. I am at 600hp with just a few changes....
You cannot get much out of NA cars - take the S56 in the E92 M3.. there is not a lot you can do aftermarket to really change that car. If you drop $10,000 for a supercharger this M216 is STILL beating that M3 every time.

Put 10-20k of upgrades into a 2012 and it is better than a F430 AND you don't need to deal with the endless Ferrari maintenance. Sure the Ferrari gets you the looks - but also helps draw the wrong attention would could lead to someone stealing your car. This is a beautiful car that you can do a ton with IF you are willing to spend money AND you have the TT version.
Left my BMW550 for the E550. I find the BMW was far more comfortable. I do like the added HP. speaking of which....have you considered Weistec or RENNtech? 540hp and over 700ft/lbs. Thats AMG stuff. No limiter. Overall it's a great car for my purposes.
Yeah man I love the car too. I was looking at the RENNtech but just didn't know if it was worth it! Im sure it would be a pretty nice addon tho
Make some custom longtube headers and a tune. You’ll get some decent power. My m273 is pushing around 450 to the crank

@@Jawnwickk 550 x drive is more of a drivers car. BMWs are lighter and more nimble. You feel the road more than a merc. I love Mercedes but they’re more about comfort and straight line fast. And the after market for the TT in-line 6 bmw makes the bmw faster.
Where do you get the fender for soo cheap? I want to resolve mine and every where I looked is like 600 bucks

Did you straight pipe your car? I have the 2010 w207 e550 and I actually like the drive experience, I take it on canyon runs a lot and have coilovers and some other mods. It is a little heavy but what benz isn't? Also didn't know they limited the newer one's at 130 that is ridiculous.. i've taken my 2010 160+ a number of times.
Yeah, I have coilovers and strut bars and lower braces on my w207. The weak spot is the roof since all USA w207 cars have a panoramic roof. I wished it was all metal to be honest. Light weight and stronger.

@@Phuong_Nguyen_ bc racing. And yea the pano roof is a real nuisance and it seems every car Mercedes’ made but this one got a warranty repair of their pano.
@@Dnasty1 how well does the BC ride? I thought about getting BC but I didn’t like their factory spring rates. Front not high enough and rear too high. I think it’s 6/15 from factory.
@@Phuong_Nguyen_ The ride is actually better than factory even when I’m pretty low. The only other option for our cars at the time was bilstein but I ended up getting a good deal on the bcs. Now they have a bunch of Chinese companies making them not sure how they ride but look almost identical to the bc.
Hey, I wanna ask if your E550 has problems about the suspension. Mine has only 59k milage right now but my shock leaks and control arm sounds bad when turning🤕
Oof yeah you must have the sedan right? The coupe has different suspension. It comes stock with coilovers

2012 is the earliest year you should be looking at. The 2012 is ENTIRELY different from the 2011 and allows massive upgrades.

Mapping is absolutely not a problem, you can get a map 10x cheaper than in usa
I’m always worried about the air bags. Should I bee are there problems with them when they get older? I have a 2010
I haven’t had any issues or recalls with mine, what are you worried about?
I just remember some of the older Mercedes would have problems with the air bag’s leaking when they get old. Really just worried if they are expensive to replace
@@zacattack45 Ohhh yeah I’m not too sure. You talking about actual air bags or the air bags in the seats for the adjustments? Because the ones in my seat definitely leak 😂

You bought the wrong year, 12 and up with the M278. Renntech tune will get you a claimed 540hp and 705tq. It also gets rid of the speed limiter and changes the traction control programming.
Bro I know :( only reason I went for it was I got a really good deal. Biturbi woulda been way nicer…
U can use a mygenius to tune the car i have a raceiq tune no need for a ecu. Also eliminates speed limiter

You can get a body kit from royal body kits and upgraded turbos from much boost which is what I really want to do with this car. Look up tc concepts e coupe it has 700 hp with a wide body kit.
when downshifting, click and hold the paddle shifter. its still slow but faster than clicking thru gears imo

How are you upset by it being an automatic and having good traction control? It’s damn luxury car, not a clapped out Miata.. you’re not meant to feel every bump in the road. And if anything, this car is more connected with the road than most Mercs. I had one.
I have to turn the TC off on my e46 M3. Any throttle and the car shakes as it cuts power.
Just need to remember when it's wet 😂

Insurance would help a lot if it costs 2000 to fix that’s crazy I had a pretty decent accident on the front end of my car they changed all the parts and painted for about 8 grand and changed my windshield all I had to do was pay the deductible for 1k
So the only way to avoid airmatic is going the coupe route?
Yeah that’s what I’ve read, they’re the only ones with standard coilover suspension
I agree with the limiter it feels like your slamming the brake when you hit 130

I would check out some off the shelf tunes. Most of them should remove the electronic limit

U need to check out renntech aftermarket mods. I have 2013 e550 coupe biturbo and bought an ecu tune from renntech in 2013 and got 530 hp and 606 tq. Now rentech has a ecu that gets 540 hp and 707 tq, tgere is a tcu upgrade, sports exhaust, lowering module etc. I think you may not have done must research on aftermarket mods.
That’s only for the bi turbo model tho, I have the 2011 NA. 2012 and up they switched to turbskies. Unfortunately if you look up the mods renntech has for the NA it’s pretty minimal for hp gains…

He’s not lying. He has the N/A. I have the 2014 E550 (bi-turbo) and I did black boost intake, MBH down pipes and stage 2 eurocharge tune. I’m getting around 550hp/680tq and it’s dull. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fast.. just not fun fast. I even did the carbon fiber rear diffuser and carbon front lip from SUVNEER Motorsport along with carbon mirror caps, pan america grill and even replaced the stock wheels with 19” Rohana RC22. I just feel the car is boring.

Absolutely correct. In the BMW E92s there is a kickback button where you stomp the gas and it auto downchanges to the lowest possible gear. This E550 has it as well as the AMGs

I’m assuming yours doesn’t have the 4 Matic If your intentions are to try a drift? Mine has the 4 Matic and I love it. Power straight to the ground and it moves pretty damn good. Not as beastly as my AMG I had, but still a fun car to drive.
