Ryan, I found a product that works very well on Clover, Ground Ivy and other weeds. It’s a product from Bonide called Weed Beater Ultra. I had a Clover and Ground Ivy problem, used the same thing you used in this video and was not happy with results.

For Creeping Charlie I use 20muleteam borax laundry soap from the grocery store 1 1/2 cups for 2 gallons of water.
It doesn't dissolve in water but is suspended so the container has to be shaken occasionally.
Works very well but sometimes a second application is needed later on.

Hey Ryan, I'd get on the creeping Charlie asap. I inherited it from the people that used to own my home, it was bad. Last year I hit it 2x in a 6 week period with 2-4D and dicamba, and it worked on the newer growth, but the heavy established growth basically laughed at me. The best approach I found was to get on my hands and knees and literally dig it out. It's painstakingly slow, but the results were amazing. My wife actually became obsessed with ridding the turf of it! How cool is that!?? What we had afterwards was a VERY sparse turf and many bare spots. Once mid August rolled around I basically renovated the entire front turf (with tips from you and LCN) and the lawn in September was amazing!! Lots of comments from neighbors and passerby's etc. Fast fwd to this past spring, and no more Charlie!! Just nice dense turf! Sorry for the long winded story, but it was a good one, lol. Also, thanks for the uploads, your lawn looks amazing! Keep up the good work!

I went with a standard white. I had patchy grass in heavy shade areas in the back and brown grass in the front during dry summers.
The clover did a great job filling the shady gaps and staying green the dry.
Also I was encouraged by clover's nitrogen fixing properties. Which I think has thickened the grass as well.

Mix one cup of vinegar with a cup of water and one drop of dish soap. Shake it up and spray it onto any patches of clover. The vinegar will dry out the clover's leaves, and the dish soap will make sure it sticks. You may need to spray over a series of weeks to kill off the clover completely.

    • @ryanknorrlawncare

Most grassy weeds require a non-selective (like roundup) meaning you will kill existing grass and the weed grass. That's unfortunate but kind of the reality. Sedge I would look up a product called Sedgehammer. Clumping fescue requires digging it out or roundup. I've had some of these same issues so I know it's a pain.

Stop, stop killing the clover folks. Keep it. It takes nitrogen from the air (air is 79% nitrogen) and adds it to the soil. Bees love the flowers, make honey from it and they pollinate fruit trees. An added benefit is clover needs very little mowing. Win all around. The golf course lawn is bad for our environment when it takes tons of herbicides that kill beneficial insects snd poisons our waterways.

Give Trimec/Acreage Pro from Gordon's a try. It takes a bit to work (~10 days) but when it does you're not left with any dead or dying weeds. They literally disintegrate which is great for broadleaf which look awful when you've got a bunch of droopy brown, dead weeds left.

Hi Ryan. Thanks for all you do. I've searched online but cannot find anything about mixing 2 different weed be gon products. Can I mix Weed B Gon plus Crabgrass Control with Weed B Gon CCO in the same Gallon sprayer? If so, any idea on ratio?

After clover killer , do you seed? Or do you just let the grass thrive?

Great video as usual but I will say that that exact ortho WBG hasn’t worked for any of the violet I have. It wilts the clover just enough but the violet prevails. Heard the only thing for violet is Turf-Lon.

Is there any reason that a surfactant cannot or should not be added and used on other weeds such as dandelions? I would like to use one herbicide mixture for everything and not have to mix up a separate batch just for clover. I have subscribed to your channel and think that your videos are great. You keep things simple and don't get overly technical. I live in north central Illinois and your videos seem geared towards the type of weather that I have. Good job on all of your videos IMO.

Surfactant for all weed spraying would be perfect...that will help for dandelions as well. Thanks for watching!

What is the time frame from clover to total death with this product
Also what does it look like as it dies? Does it and the surrounding area change to another colour or does the clover just slouch and die?
When should I expect to see if it did anything
I sprayed my backyard yesterday and I’ve followed the label and mixed .5 with half a gallon... this is the first time I’ve done this it seems like such a small amount of product

    • @ryanknorrlawncare
      @ryanknorrlawncare  6 лет назад

Exact timeframe I'm not sure of. It will get sort of brown looking and also curl up. It usually takes much more than a day to really see the results so give it a bit more time.

Hey thanks so much for the videos I’ve seen most of your videos and they are all good! My question is I want to get rid of clover but FOUR WEEKS AGO I heavily overseeded a one year old lawn with many bare spots and I want to get rid of the clover but I still have a lot of new sprouts and some seeds that still haven’t sprouted is they’re anything I can use on four week old seed that’s an inch or two tall?

I have EXACTLY the same situation Catherine!! Some seeds haven’t even sprouted yet. I certainly don’t want to kill my new grass shoots that took me ages to spread the seed and get to grow!! No one has answered our very important question yet???

What do you think of tenacity for clover? I’ve used tenacity plus surfactant 2-3 times and I thought it was reigning it in, but hasn’t fully knocked it back - should I use a different product, more tenacity, more frequent tenacity?

Have you ever used Crossbow for clover and other broadleaf? Its a Southern Ag product. I found it works really great on broadleaf varieties (much better than Ortho or Roundup which usually take multiple applications) but I've never used it on CC.
