Good morning Gly,, that ladder looks scary looking down.that section looks like the miners would still be working it. It looks so well preserved. Thank you for the extra effort in showing us what we would have missed. What a great adventure.😊
Don’t ever apologize for putting your health first. I enjoy the videos of you just chatting and walking around topside too. Hope you are doing well! ~Keeley
Thanks Gly for what you do, no need to be sorry, you can only do what you can, you put out some great video's, but your health and safety come first so take. From Dave in Australia.
I love that of all RUclipsrs, you have reruns like a lot of my favorite old shows. I'm willing to wait for new stuff. Sending all the blessings your way brother! ♥ We're all still here rooting for you!
I forgot today's episode was a rerun (wondering where was Laura) and I was so relieved when I went back and watched Update on Old Bob #2. Thank you, once again, for sharing your explorations and adventures looking at the old mines and sharing the beautiful desert. I'm looking forward to future adventures when Old Bob is up and running. Stay safe.
I'm the same age as yourself. I would definitely would like to explore old mines but unfortunately I have arthritis in my spine and most other joints. Respect on taking it safe and slow. I have seen others on RUclips who are too complacent when it comes to exploring old mines. You have to be prepared for any eventuality and forward think on the decisions you make for yourself and others. Stay safe and keep the content coming 👍
It's not just the weight, it's your age too and thin air...good luck Hope you're serious about the weight loss, there are thousands of people who care about your health, considering what you do for a living. Catchya next episode...
...👍🏾🙏👍🏾✨✨✨Hey Old Bob... I thank you for not over during what you do cuz that was a lot ladder to climb down and back up like Wow Bob... I just hope you just do what you only can go far to do no matter how much you tryna go Old Bob Old Bob just don't go over board doin what we all knows you so loves to do... Yes I thank you Old Bob for inviting me to watch you and that long ladder... Sir ... I'll tell you that wasn't good at all so okay Old Bob see you on the next Video... Good-bye Sir✨✨✨👍🏾🙏👍🏾...
Thank you once again Gly your enthusiasm for passing in your knowledge is very much appreciated . Thank you so much . Coming from South Africa mining was a big part of our country .
I drove a truck for a dozen years Gly. I had to lose twenty pounds quickly to lower my cholesterol. I ate one meal in the evening after driving that was a medium size Stoffers lasagna of your choice but I chose the cheese. It only took a few months and I celebrated with a cop box of Krispy Kremes lol. You must snack to prevent the hunger and do it wisely. I weigh 227 now and had weighed 250 at 6'. It was hard to bend over.
Gly talking about wanting to find a good girl is somehow so wholesome and endearing to me, and slightly funny. You're definitely not the only man out there wishing for a type of girl they can't seem to find. I just turned 25, Dutchman, and over here in Rotterdam, the big city, it's tremendously difficult to find a traditional, feminine, sweet, nurturing, patient, warm-hearted woman who doesn't give it away to everyone at some dancing night at your local club and so on...
Stopes were fully worked with just enough dirt pulled from chutes for the miner to be able to work comfortably on top of the fresh dirt for the next cut above him, so you timbered your ladder way as it was the only access to the working face, when no more ore was found, the whole stope was emptied of dirt through the chutes." An old workings miner"💫🙏💞 it is called an underlay shaft
Looks like the date on that powder box was April 15 1925. Be careful, man. Always let someone know where you're going and always leave a trail of breadcrumbs, so to speak, so someone can figure out where you are in the mine. Doesn't have to be much. Little strips of fluorescent tape that you can drop at periodic intervals would do wonders to help find you if you got hurt or stuck, and wouldn't take up much space or be difficult to retrieve on the way out.
Gly, Good day. 1875 - 1918, huge discovery. You have track, quite extensive. What else awaits us, now i know how old you are, been there done that, 72 in Dec. Aren't you glad you didn't bring anyone else with you in the same condition. It was fun Gly, don't put yourself down, we all appreciate what you do, take it easy, praying for you. You're a smart man, knowing how your body works, having the expertise of being a nurse of sorts. Stay strong, live long.
I stopped watching this for a few months, but came back and I am glad I get to enjoy eating my dinner whilst you continue to explore abandon mines. Really nice to appreciate and sort of ponder about the people who used to go down into these places and what their lives were like
Seeing all that mine rail makes me drool a bit. I'm looking for 2000ft of it for my amusement park train. The bent pieces can be straightened without too much difficulty. They don't make it new anymore.
I was previously subscribed and now I am unsubscribed because I didn't care for the previous recent content and attitude toward my participation in the cause. But THIS is the kind of content I watch FOR, and I STRONGLY encourage it be the primary content! Fiddly-fooling around and playing patty cake is not interesting for me, I like this. Thanks for THIS content.
If you are alone, let a disco ball outside the mine (I'm French so I don't know the name in English, the ball with a lot of mirror), You never know what can happen. The disco ball can reflect the sun in all direction, helicopters, planes, walkers, ect... can see it more easy and with a fluo cloth.
Go for it Gly, can't think of a better way to stay fit than climbing ladders, maybe add small can of oxygen to your kit to help with altitude, be safe.
I heard some cool old sounding music on another video of yours. There has to be tons of old miner music you could use? Maybe? I know music has copyright issues etc. but some old music kinda matches the usually old settings. Just a thought and a comment for algorithm boost. 👍
Yes, lose a bit of weight, Gly, your body will thank you!! I’m 5’11” and ~165 pounds. During my last year of working as a painter when I was 68, according to my iPhone, I was walking from 7,000-14,000 steps a day and climbing up and down between 1 and 68 stories (and the phone usually did not recognize 3/4 of trips up and down ladders for some reason!). You still have a lot of time as long as you stay in shape! Love your videos and dedication, sir!
try the abs machine that a military captain puts out and 20 mins does so many crunches in that time. and it could be worn while doing work on computer editing or b4 you get ready to explore. i was using it until i wore it out and ordering a new one. thank you for exploring, as soon as my ankle heals I hope I can go explore old train lines and areas and safe areas to video but not mines. i'm based in Lovelock, Nevada. keep exploring and walking too. i'm like you, I need to lose some weight too. you help me to keep moving, so please keep going.
I'd love to have pictures of interesting parts of mines. You're a great photographer. What about selling photos, it would help support your adventures. I know I would love to have some and I bet many other people would also.
Not worth beating yourself up for Gly, Even though it is a rerun...LOL haha almost forgot but I may have missed this episode, or I just don't remember because my memory plays tricks on me. I do know what ya mean too, I also have neuropathy. Too much nerve damage from blown discs and surgeries. Glad I was able to help Old Bob and cannot wait to see him in action with a new soul. Sure hope I can meet you some day, me and a few thousand others, haha. Take care old man
Too bad you never went up the ladder into the shrinkage stope. It would have been cool to see the working face! Thanks for the video I enjoyed this one.
Yes you are right exercise issues good , but you are doing a great job ive not been able to see your videos my compliments sir take care yes ive always enjoyed your channle
I live in near New Castle Colorado, where there used to be several old coal mines. The portals are long since collapsed. My question is, would there be some mine diagrams/ maps on file somewhere ? Would that be with the county or Federal system ? Where do you find the maps at ?
Enjoy the videos. Watched many. But always wondered about the unusual name Gly. I AM NOT calling you this, but the first thing I thought of was add a U. Second thought, probably fits his sense of humor. 😄 Anyway, if you wanna say, do tell. Probably short for a great name, I dunno, but I'm kinda ugly 😉
Going down that first ladder was making me queasy, and I am just sitting at home watching you! To suggest that you enjoy living dangerously is a bit of an understatement. Maybe you should consider taking up some safer hobbies like sky diving and/or swimming with sharks?
Gly great tour. You might like to investigate a keto diet for maintaining weight and the associated symptoms. I do it M-F, once I hit my target weight, with some walking,WEIGHT, and life is good.
I wonder what that Green rock was, scattered in the pile where the stope broke thru.(where you went left of the adet ladder). Just thinking, did you drive back to "camp" and start this explore another day or did you continue in this area after filming Eps.#1 and Eps.#2? Because if you were attempting to get all of this on film in one day, then you expected too much of yourself and just "ran out of juice". (well, yes, I do agree with you that you are carrying too much weight, so time to be more active and eat less within one week......at a time. Thanks for this re-run. (and current films show that you shed some lbs., good for you!).
Need one of those little portable oxygen bottles to carry along with you! They have small ones about the size of a 20 ounce soda pop bottle. I've got 11 years on you and you sound worn out 😅
That was one hell of a climb. It’s not just the height, but carrying a lot of kit, on an old ropey ladder, lots of adrenaline, you’re at elevation, mentally tiring … and you wonder why you are feeling so shot?
If having heart pain have an aspirin and chew on it until there are no grains of it. That can reduce chances of having the heart attack greatly. The difference between living or dying can be between having the aspirin with you or not. Never had a full blown heart attack because if i start to get heart pain that should not be there i have an aspirin and the heart pain goes away. Also the price of aspirin is cheaper than hospital or medical help. An exercise bike can be a way to get fiter if used with effort for half an hour a day.If it does not kill you. Or using a skipping rope to level where it goes under your feet several times when on a single jump. Have not much done it since i was young. Wife won a quality exercise bike machine so i have choice to use it if i want. Is more a case of fitness not age i believe. If having a heart attack climbing out might finish you off. Aspirin takes about 5 to 6 minutes to kick in to help prevent a heart attack. How would i know? Well i have probably nearly had a heart attack several hundred times because when i was much younger i managed to damage my heart by asthma attack. If fitter and not into the alky-hol you might be able to look into mines into your 80s if you stay healthy. Most people have a vice of some sort to damage themselves. Best of luck to you.😊
One boot goes there and another boot goes here...each hand has a specific place. Are you exploring mines or playing Twister...whats really going on in those mines! 😉
Good Day, Gly, did you see any footprints?.....I too hate to see left behind trash....Just no class......How is your Lady friend doing?....Very Knowledgeable also Gly.....Good job on the Video.................JB.......
This one is incredible mate. It's like nature but every single bit of it, every bit of wood every can, every broken rock was made by man long gone. Totally not spooky like a cave. I want to go stay down there for a night. Bit of food a book ect. A little bit of me wants to be a miner! Take care mate. Get a couple stone off and that chick your after should come get you lol.
You shoud carry a smaller drone nothing fancy, but with a camera and test around to see how viable it is to fly in the mine to fly those areas you can climb to see if it goes etc.
I know you wouldn't go down there either without people knowing about what you are gonna do and the time that you might be back and such. I was doing a cave tour a few weeks ago and the moment we went in the phone service died instantly.
Just remember 100 feet in = 300 feet out over weight and under powered discretion is the better part of valor Puzzle me this, huge amounts of material came out of this hole in the ground. How did they get that kind of volume out? Most assuredly not with that ore bucket. there has to be some high volume material removal system somewhere. My thinking is it did not go out the top because I see no evidence of that kind of lifting system and pretty soon the weight of the cable reduces the lifting ability to nothing.
Two things come to mind. The last "ladder" you showed where someone removed the lower part, had the rungs on the backside of it. I am sure it would work, but it does put a lot more stress on the rungs coming off as you use it. Second, you talked about finding a girl that is both interested in the activities you enjoy AND being physically fit. And there you totally carrying too much weight yourself... Seemed odd state what you wanted in a mate and you not in the best shape yourself... Anyway, thumbs Up for the video!
I wonder if there is a device that can allow them to climb down attached to a safety line and then apply some lift when they ascend, something like those safety reels construction workers sometimes use.
Good morning Gly,, that ladder looks scary looking down.that section looks like the miners would still be working it. It looks so well preserved. Thank you for the extra effort in showing us what we would have missed. What a great adventure.😊

absolutely love the little 'Gal' talk hahahahaha love it, there's too much to love about you brother haha
Why do you need to apologize to people who aren't taking the risk? If you don't feel safe, don't do it.
Blue and green rocks for marbles collect Galena for us ham radio operators.

Your very brave going down that mine on your own
Good to know that you are playing it safe. Great videos..
You have to take care of yourself my friend, God Bless you for a very good job.

Think about exploring some of this with a remote camera, such as checking sumps to see if they continue.
Stopes were fully worked with just enough dirt pulled from chutes for the miner to be able to work comfortably on top of the fresh dirt for the next cut above him, so you timbered your ladder way as it was the only access to the working face, when no more ore was found, the whole stope was emptied of dirt through the chutes." I'll watch this later Gly (although I've already seen it!) , I have to get in the Kitchen now Cook up my Ragu for Tomorrows Lasagna 🙏✌🍻🇬🇧
Take it easy gly, health is more important than mining . This episode did worry me a bit
Go for it Gly, can't think of
a better way to stay fit than climbing ladders, maybe add small can of oxygen to your kit to help with altitude, be safe.
I have a couple of old little aluminum medical oxygen cylinders I would love to send you.

True unfortunately our history and mining doesn't go back as far as America hello from remote rural off grid NSW opal miner here
Hope you find her! She is out there...Keep postin.
Heck Gly, I was in a safety zone when I was hit by the SUV and was injured a few years ago. Be careful Gly.
I hope Laura is The One!
Laura if your reading this I hope you choose or have chosen Gly!
I’m sure all of us fans hope to see you again soon!

Seeing this is helping me understand how exploring underground can affect the body. I play ttrpg's, and this is a big help understanding things.
Gly, I wish you good luck in finding anventurous girl friend. Don't give up! I'm 77 now and, finally, found a keeper at age 71. Stay safe, Gly!!
this is where i come in ,, light , short and very versatile
Too bad you never went up the ladder into the shrinkage stope. It would have been cool to see the working face! Thanks for the video I enjoyed this one.
“Gly”: Laura and I might go back to this mine next spring to explore those areas. 👍
good to see again , nice to know afew things have fallen into place since then....
Hi Gly hope Bob is doing ok,and yourself, another great video ❤❤❤
Great mate as per usual.
Cool video thanks for taking the time to show the cool stuff man! I bet that does make you tired stay safe & have fun out there.
Great adventure. Thank you.
Yes you are right exercise issues good , but you are doing a great job ive not been able to see your videos my compliments sir take care yes ive always enjoyed your channle
Just be safe bud.
Anyway, if you wanna say, do tell. Probably short for a great name, I dunno, but I'm kinda ugly 😉
Thanks for another good revisit.
Going down that first ladder was making me queasy, and I am just sitting at home watching you! To suggest that you enjoy living dangerously is a bit of an understatement.
Maybe you should consider taking up some safer hobbies like sky diving and/or swimming with sharks?
Need to hook that camera rig, so you can use both hands on those descents
My man really doing an amazing job for us, thank you very much, i hope you get in shape and get back to rocking it soon
At @17:56 was that a nice piece of turquois or malachite right there in the chute?
I'm pretty sure TVR Exploring did this mine sometime back. If so, I hope they're not the ones that left the trash!
Totally agree need to go with someone what happens if hurt yourself and can't walk ,no celebrity service please have back up ..❤
Gly great tour.
Hi Gly, doing a good job, take it easy , getting older catchers up , keep up the good work ,from Steve down under 😂
Need one of those little portable oxygen bottles to carry along with you! They have small ones about the size of a 20 ounce soda pop bottle. I've got 11 years on you and you sound worn out 😅
I'm glad that using your RUclips channel for a dating site actually paid off for you!
That was one hell of a climb. It’s not just the height, but carrying a lot of kit, on an old ropey ladder, lots of adrenaline, you’re at elevation, mentally tiring … and you wonder why you are feeling so shot?
Where's your video on that hiker Kenny
At 11:45 the tool looks like a little bell that’s shown at 13:50

I am early for a change...Howdy, Gly.
When you rest, do,you turn lites out and catch a quick Z, do,you hear any weird sounds?
One boot goes there and another boot goes here...each hand has a specific place. Are you exploring mines or playing Twister...whats really going on in those mines! 😉
200 ft of ladders ! WOW ! well done. Some people have electric scooters, you need an electric mine-winch. Take the hard work out of mine exploring.
Partly age is dependent on how people choose to think of themselves and how they look after their health.
That might be snuff can opener, used to cut the seal on the top of a Copenhagen snuff can.
Good Day, Gly, did you see any footprints?.....I too hate to see left behind trash....Just no class......How is your Lady friend doing?....Very Knowledgeable also Gly.....Good job on the Video.................JB.......

Bent rail, sounds like an insult 😊
I wonder if there is a device that can allow them to climb down attached to a safety line and then apply some lift when they ascend, something like those safety reels construction workers sometimes use.
