I always VASTLY prefer positive lists to negative lists, I like it when people are gushing over things they adore rather than ranting about things they despise, generally.
It's a thing missing from the vast majority of modern RUclips because negativity sells. If you look on your recommended regardless of who you watch regularly, I can almost guarantee it'll mostly be people complaining about something.
I always look forward to your year end lists. I like how you have a mix of contemporary and more obscure picks. Always pick out a few tracks and projects to check out myself. Love the Everything Everything representation! Despite their IMO stellar output, they seem to fly kinda under the radar in online music discourse. Such a shame. Looking forward to the albums list and future videos, hope you are doing well and are feeling better about the content you are making.
Cheerleader at #3 is such a W. I wasn't in a relationship, wasn't heartbroken while I was listening to this daily but it still tore me apart. It lifts you up and breaks your heart at the same time
I get the appeal Imaginal Disk album and am impressed by it, but it generally didn’t click with me. This song, however, is just unreal and replayable beyond belief. The grounding piano keys and the chorus drop.. so good!
as someone who’s going through a really bad break up right now, Brad coming back after leaving midway through the year feels like a fake out death in a movie where the main character comes back at the perfect time love u brad glad youre doing better 🫶🏻
Really appreciate to see Logic on the list. I haven‘t seen him on any list for best songs or best records so far, even though I think Ultra 85 is by far Logics best record with some really big bangers on it too.
i like the longer hair. looking forward to any fantano/otherwise reactions you may do but if you don't I understand, year has been a rough one. anyway i hope you're doing alright
I think so, considering how he said in the Next Semester part how he never wants to hear a Twenty One Pilots song again, and Tina loves TOP. but it's best not to pry tho
Me and my dad watch your videos whenever we hang out. I’m glad you’re still making stuff for everyone to enjoy and be safe you’ll get through these shitty times
Thank you for giving Vylet Pony a listen! I know it's a lot, but there's a novella that came out alongside Monarch of Monsters, and it's a great little read that goes further into the details of what the album portrays. Vylet gives some context outside the album and novella, about what certain things mean and why they're there. You could say that making people read a small book to better understand the album you've released means the album does a poor job on its own, but I would argue that the album sounds amazing and terrifying, and the novella provides an extra cherry on top of it, that when you've finished both, give you a fuller experience that makes you feel the warm tinglies in your chest and stomach. Also the art is hot.
happy to see you messing with Katia Krow :) if you like that song or that album, I can also recommend a very similar album from an artist called Orkun A. called "Archaic" which you'd probably also enjoy on a similar level, it's a small-time artist who personally sent their album to me on patreon but turned out to bring me back a decent bit over the year. lots of really nice Tim Hecker-but-cozier type ambience there as well
I’ll say again, so glad that you included my suggestion in here, that TV Girl and George Clanton album is fantastic. Some great picks here, and ofc the goat 2slimey x3 Great list Brad 🔥
Would it be wrong of me saying that cupcakke just published a great album this year, and is seriously underrated bc of the audio usually used for the remixes and her kind of rap she usually does that makes people lose interest?
no it would be extremely correct… I’ve been saying this for YEARS!! Keep going!! She constantly gives back to her fans & supports the LGBTQ+ community, & she’s mean at rap but bc she had a meme song years ago ppl pay her DUST
I FREAKIN LOVE PORTER. Cheerleader is probably my second favorite song of all time (right next to Musician by P Rob again). I hate to hear you had to listen to such a great song during some upsetting times in your life, and how the song now probably ties in with unfortunate memories. I get it, it sucks. But I’m glad to see you enjoyed the song as much as I did tbh. (Don’t blame ya for putting songs like Meet The Grahams above it tho lmao)
Nice to see Next Semester make the list. I really liked the new Vampire Weekend and Fontaines DC stuff too. Here's to a better 2025 (someone pls clip elon ty)
Death and Romance makes the top-10. Well-deserved placement, though it's not even my personal favorite song on the Mag Bay record. My favorite is The Ballad of Matt and Mica, the closing track. It's one of the zaniest blends of quiet and loud and dramatic pacing shifts that you will hear in pop music this year.
@@TheZenomeProject I would personally have picked the closer, like you mention, fear, sex or image. But TBH I think nearly every song on that record does something exceptionally well. It took me a bit to really 'get' it, I was a big fan of their debut and had to adjust to the new sound a bit. But once I did it was like a switch was flipped, love every song on the record.
That's my floor is considerably high up there. Though my favourite song that's got magdelena bay is not on the album. They are a feature to blu de tigers disappearing and it's honestly amazing.
EVERYTHING EVERYTHING MENTIONED 🗣️🔥 Although Don’t Ask Me To Beg wouldn’t have been my choice off of Mountainhead (I probably would have chosen Wild Guess) it’s still a great track and just proves that Everything Everything have some of the best pop hooks I’ve ever heard.
Hope is a highly reflective song about giving compassion and wisdom to your followers about going through the problems of both the self and the world...yet, on a funnier note, it makes me reflect on another thing. Hope makes me think of Millennial artists whose careers have aged like spoiled milk (a la Katy Perry) and ones like Vampire Weekend whose careers have aged like the finest of Bordeaux wines, and what makes the great artists endure like they do.
Here are mine: 1. Twenty One Pilots "Backslide" 2. Sabrina Carpenter "Please Please Please" 3. ROSÉ "APT." feat. Bruno Mars 4. Taylor Swift "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" 5. Vampire Weekend "Connect" 6. Kendrick Lamar "meet the grahams" 7. Quadeca "Guide Dog" 8. Tyler, The Creator "Noid" 9. Charli XCX "Girl, so confusing" feat. Lorde 10. Shawn Mendes "Why Why Why"
I'm so happy that he wasn't too scared to add The Wallflower Equation to the list. Also I kinda like the 22 minute song, it is pretty repetitive though I just love when the synths come in after the character gets brutally murdered. I think the worst songs are probably sludge (22 minute song), Vitality Glitch (kinda boring), and Princess Cuckoo (really overestimating but I think its the character being SA'd so makes sense.) I would probably not listen to the album if you hate stuff thats kinda theater kid vibes or if you hate people with a special interest for cartoon horses for some reason (some of the lyrics are confusing because the character in the album is a Pegasus that kinda turns into a wolf.) Also these is a whole little story to go along with the album.
Damn thats weird,, sludge is like my song of the year and a lot of my friends said it was their fav too. Ive been seeing a lot of negativity towards it tho
@@sirswanky8686 I love sludge too. Everytime it comes on in my playlists I listen to it all the way through lol. I probably should have said unapproachable instead of worst. The only thing I don't like is minutes 17-19 because I just think that part kind of repetitive and is kind of a weak climax but that might be kinda nitpicky idk. And just the fact that its 22 minutes also makes it kinda unapproachable for some people I guess but I like it. I guess I was saying what I think other people would say are the worst but the only songs I really skip is Vitality Glitch cause the only part I like about that song is the bridge I think. Also the second to last song cause its just a wall of noise. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense just a string of consciousness rambling.
I love how Brad thinks his worst mistake is calling Zach Bryan “Luke Bryan”, while he’s literally talking about a song from last year on his 2024 list 😂
Thinking about how Yves almost appears, but 51 isn't bad either! Another video worth watching until the end no matter how long it is, and great picks, it's nice having you back Brad
24:32 The way I started smiling ear to ear when I saw the cover and heard Zoé's voice is incredible, I love Caravan Palace so much and it makes me so happy to hear you talk good about them :)
Great take on the juice wrld album art. I've been defending it since it came out. It's great and people that say it's "objectionably bad" either don't make art or just don't understand what makes good art good.
I was surprised that a song I know and love made it in the top ten. Death and Romance stood out to me so much when I first put Magdalena Bay on shuffle and it made it into my playlist after the first listen.
holy, holy blew my mind as someone who wasn't even a huge fan of black midi. kind of obsessed with the whole album but that song is some of the best satire I've ever heard on top of stellar instrumentation. thanks for keeping on brad ♥️
