Great box man! I had started on a box for my dad that I wanted to have a false bottom and hidden compartment when I watched this and I liked your box enough that I'm scrapping most of my original plans and incorporating how your box is made into what I'm doing!
Amazing job! The maple and walnut really pop with the finish! I would suggest that if you were to make more of these, apply a coat of finish around the edges of the walnut panels, so if they constrict with change of weather, you don’t have a unfinished line showing. Other than that amazing job! I look forward to building one my self.
Great job Brad. Your flip top planer/sander cart is one of my best shop features. Try General Finishes Seal-a-Cell before top coat. Makes most hardwoods, especially walnut, brilliant!
You look pretty young and different in this video 😀. Now that you’re keeping those beard, the difference is clear. That was a great video. I found what I was looking for.
When you cut the side pieces, did you cut both 10" pieces then both 5" pieces? Or did you alternate 10, 5, 10, 5? That part of the video only shows the beginning of the very first cut.
The box looks great! I think you could get a really cool reveal for the lid if you just added another 16th to your liner pieces. I'm sure that was not the look you were going for though. ;)
Oh yeah, forgot I used that one too! It's a 80 tooth Dewalt blade. Actually was on the saw when I bought it so I don't know actual name of it since it's all worn off :)
Brad, I've been following you on Instagram for a while. This is the first video I've seen. Your video is great, you do a great job in all aspects. How long did this box take to build? Do you sell these?
I appreciate that! I really didn't time it, but I'd say 2 or 3 hours total. I don't sell these at the moment, though I may have one coming up for sale later.
That Freud blade is why your wood burned so badly. Get yourself a Forrest blade. They really make a difference. They claim 200 degrees cooler on a rip cut. Think about it, wood that burns is about 500 degrees on your saw. That heats the blade too.
This I can work with, simplifies a lot of the work…, Hey, just in case you didn’t hear about it Hyezmar (google him) is giving away his woodworking book!
It's a cool box and presentation, but this video is definitely for people who have lots of equipment & money. If you're an amateur woodworker, look elsewhere

+Matt Williams sweet! Glad I could help.
That is an exceptional piece...I have absolutely no intention of attempting such a precise build! But, it was a great video.
Nice video! great simple design highlighting the wood. Have to figure out how to re-saw with out a bandsaw!
Nice job
This is great! Ive been trying to get into wood working and this looks to be a simple enough box to start out with.
Very Nice Build and the Shellac you put on really shows up that wood grain. Well Done, Take Care, Barry (from England)

GOOD
I'm building one (same design) using ambrosia maple and quilted sycamore.
When you cut the side pieces, did you cut both 10" pieces then both 5" pieces? Or did you alternate 10, 5, 10, 5? That part of the video only shows the beginning of the very first cut.
Where do you even learn how to make this amazing things???👌✌👍👍👍👍❤❤💙💚💛💜💓💕

+Charles Holland Yep, you gotta sneak up on it.
The box looks great! I think you could get a really cool reveal for the lid if you just added another 16th to your liner pieces. I'm sure that was not the look you were going for though. ;)
+Bruce A. Ulrich you're right, I was not going for that look 😃. I wanted it seamless when closed.
I think you achieved it. I could seriously not tell where the lid was. Very cool.

nice box. what blades were you using on your table saw?
Thanks! It's a Freud 50 tooth combo blade.
Thanks for the reply. I am actually looking at that blade. what was the yellow blade?
Oh yeah, forgot I used that one too! It's a 80 tooth Dewalt blade. Actually was on the saw when I bought it so I don't know actual name of it since it's all worn off :)
Where do you go to find walnut lumber in the nashville area?
I get most of my lumber off Craigslist, but try Mimm's Lumber on Nolensville Pike. They have good stuff there at decent prices.
I’d love to see a cigar box be made not many on yt have done it thanks beautiful box btw

+Paul Shaw I have the SuperMax 19-38. You can Google that and get all the info.

Very well done! Sub'd ya!
Can't you people do it without power tool??? And without a space the size of a barn.

Lose the distracting music. Talk or play music, never try to do both at once.
I lost the music many months ago :)
Bossy git
That was not simple even in the slightest lol
