Would you be ok with your young barely adult daughter or son working in a bar with sleazy, drunk people coming to most likely harass them inappropriately every single day. With little to no oversight in the work enviroment by the government o authority. Of course not, but since the daughters and sons of senators don't have to work such jobs THEY DON'T CARE.

I honestly think this isn't all bad. I remember my daughter wanting to work and there were so many restrictions on what a teenager was allowed to do, that most businesses wouldn't hire her. What does that leave them to do? Babysit or work under the table jobs (where they aren't getting anything paid into their Social Security benefits or workers comp) -- or -- get into trouble. Of course, there need to be sane rules in place, but not allowing kids to work results in things like kids getting into drugs or stupid tic tok stunts, and keeps them from learning about how to behave in the workplace and responsibility. It's just silly to think they have to wait until they're an adult at 18, and then they'll magically know how to behave. But, we put so many child labor laws into place that decent employers were too limited in hiring kids.

Oh Karen, these laws aren't being introduced now for the good of children. These laws are to get an exploitable child workforce to do low-paid, overly-demanding jobs that adults are (rightfully) refusing to do. Do you remember in history class those black and white photos of dirty, poor children who risked their limbs to clean out machines? History tends to repeat itself....
I worked at a graveyard when I was 14, landscaping, burying caskets, maintenance, ect. After school, summers, breaks. Hard work, I made 11 or 12 an hour which was decent for the time . Had my own place at 18, a 2 bedroom apartment for 500 a month. This was back in 2008. It’s sad how expensive everything has gotten and how long it takes young folks to achieve freedom and adulthood now.
I wish I could have worked when I was a kid. It would have helped my mom pay the bills and would have further developed my character. Why does child labor always have to be portrayed as slavery? lol
I worked during summers at 7th grade & up, cutting up fruits (apricots & pears) 8-10 hours/ day for 6 days/ week. & paid 35-50 cents / tray (2-3 hours work to fill it... I was so glad when the seasons ended before summer ran out, so I could swim on hot days, instead of sweating & getting so thirsty & tired!! Yet, I was lucky. My grades were high, so I didn't have to go to makeup summer school due to poor grades, like so many other kids who were working in the sheds as well. They never did catch up on their studies, since they also worked during the school year at other jobs, so they frequently dropped out of high school!!
You could have worked when you were a kid. Before I was 16, I was engaged in a highly profitable yard service business. I actually made less money when, at 16, I secured a job working for someone else. However The caveat was that I could control my own working hours, as necessary, when I worked for myself. And when I went to work for someone else, my schedule (hours and days) reflected my boss's mindfulness that I WAS in school - more hours during weekend and summers and school breaks...fewer hours during school days and ESPECIALLY during tests season (ACT. SAT, etc.), WHEN I REQUESTED THEM - to allow me to be able to avail myself of an education to position myself to rise above being a factory floor scrubber and animal carcass disposer, if I was inclined to such aspiration. Given the orientation of your take on this scenario, I would be inclined to sign off on one of your posits... ...Your character seems it could have stood better and further development during those "formative years." And - don't let now being "full-grown" from stopping you pursuing that objective now, at all.
Because kids are working for deployable wages, while they should be getting 30 dollars an hour at the minimum. These old dinosaurs that employ kids, think its acceptable to pay low wages to kids, because" they are just starting out in the work world." While in reality the kids are tooken advantage of in the work world.
To be honest. There is nothing wrong with teenager's working. There should be rules and regulations. During school day's. They can work part-time. In the summertime. They can work full-time. You can't let teenager's work full-time during school. They need their education. It should be balance. Adults don't want to work because of the pay. The minimum wage in these states is $7.50 an hour. Bring up the minimum wage for the adults. Instead of hiring undocumented teenager's. Both Democratic and republicans need to fix this child labor law. Nobody isn't winning. When I was going to middle and high school. I wanted a job. Back in the day. My mother and I was going through financial difficulties. I couldn't ask my mother for money. How can I ask someone for money, if they can't help themselves? I felt bad for my mother. I just wanted a after school job to fix my financial problems. I filled out job application's. I didn't get a call for a job interview. My mother told me that, I was pass over for a single parent or someone that needed the job position more than me. I felt terrible. I wasn't able to fix my financial situation until I went to college. Work was made for everyone.
Because corporations cannot be trusted not to screw things up. They exploited children before to do the most dangerous jobs, and as long as they get to pay workers less, they are willing to do it again.
Why. It's because corporate greed they don't want to pay able adults a living wage. Late Capitalism.
Migrants need jobs- we need a guest worker program. Not child slaves.

It means the Wages need to be high to attract Better Workers.
If there are no immigrants to do the jobs Americans don't want to do that leaves children.
