In case that it is not suggested yet. I recommend to add a shaft to the coin so that it can be attached to the soldering stick. That makes the process more robust, easier to handle, and it will improve the heat transfer.
With the shaft you suggest, you could also heat several coins together on a hotplate, allowing you to stamp several pieces quickly rather than waiting for a single coin to heat up after stamping each one.
He wants it to be a thing anyone can do.. not everyone has a soldering iron.
@@dr.nug7103 Not a big deal, if they are knowledgeable enough to build or buy, and operate precious plastics machines making products out of recycled plastic then they can certainly figure out how to buy and operate a soldering iron.
It only cost like $40.00 for high wattage iron. Any one of those precious plastics machines will cost into the $1000 and higher, $40.00 more is nothing in comparison.
He even used a soldering iron what else do you want, that is why he said he likes to use the solder iron, it is cheap way to heat it that anyone can do and have access to. They sell them everywhere. lol I wouldn't recommend using a torch to the people because it is an open flame, that is why he suggested the solder iron i suspect. But the first thing the common man would grab in this instance is the torch. You can heat it in 3 seconds.
Exactly what i was thinking, he had to use pliers to grab it. lmao
@@TheRebelmanone very true
Would love to see how you made the tusk or rock in the background. They look amazing.
Using/ pressing warm glass makes it very smooth too ;)
All new to me - another new world revealed by RUclips. Extremely interesting and some fantastic products from recycled material. Thanks!
This is some of the best video making I have seen. Straight to the point no nonsense. Thank you, you have a new sub.
I might suggest that your thermal stamping be done by silver soldering each coin onto an inexpensive soldering iron and now you have an easy to use handheld tool for each stamping you require. The silver solder has a much higher melting point but would make it a lot safer, faster and easier to stamp your products.
I didnt know there where so many types of plastic and the particular characteristics of them. Great info.
those are so beautiful they even look expensive
I like the marking coins.
If you add a little shaft to it you can handle it better, or even assemble it on the soldering iron for easier handling
You must be the Superhero of plastic recycling, everything is super😉
I've collected many used plastic containers intending to make something out of them. This video is a great inspiration to get started!
I used to be in plastic recycling. This guy has done well in a lot of respects. However he would really benefit from apply certain techniques from injection molding.
I would love to have a go at making a piece. I used to work in a factory that made car parts, shower head parts and numerous things from plastic but nothing you would really want to take home. I seen a coaster made of the recycled plastic that would work nicely as tiles on the wall or floor. I just think it is cool that you could make anything.
I have always wanted to make life size lego blocks for building real houses. This would be perfect.
Thank you again Dave. I really enjoy watching you going through all your processes and the way you explain them to us. I was thinking about the whole idea of winning this battle you have with the plastic manufacturers and the consumers especially those who don’t have access to your videos. The point is that a manufacturer is probably producing more plastic in one batch than you and your associates can possibly reuse in a year. This really disturbs and disappoints me on behalf of my grandchildren and great grandchildren. Regards.
"it's very labor intensive but this is what we do with recycled plastic." I think this is one of the major issues we got solve to bring the cost down. Although I don't have a answer for the issue now, I disagree with "this is what we do with recycled products. We need more innovation to bring the cost down.
They. Are. So. Pretty.
I do the same technique with the razor blade on gun stock refinishing it works on the wood really well
I find that a handplane works really well for edges
You can also flame polish the surfaces of he softer materials to get a nice shine. Takes a little practice but it works
Thanks for giving us so useful information n tricks about to finish plastic products
Super Video.Danke!
You can make a soldering irron tip on the underside of the coin to make it fit a soldering iron to make it easier to handle
ABS also reacts to acetone, I have used this method to smooth out ABS 3d prints/projects. A warning if you use acetone on ABS make sure you have a safe surface or hanger system on a non exposed surface.
Hey I just started learning machine construction for plastic extrusion last year. Im still pretty young and don't know much but I think the precious plastic stuff is really cool. :D
Great Projects! The rock in the background looks interesting. My first thought was that it looks something like "Tiberium" :-) Why not welding the coins on a tip and mount it in the iron. So it will get up to temperature much quicker and the handling will be nicer too.
dave you are an inspirational person and rapidly becoming a legend ., I'm an Artist mainly sculpture and love the rocks that you are created will you be so kind to show us how you build them., keep up your wonderful work., cheers from New Zealand.
Cool,great job!
Go Dave..! If you had a CNC Mill you could make molds very fast, thus quicker to market. Keep thinking up good everyday ideas that everyone uses...Plastic can be remade many times. 3D Printing Filament is another...you build things with a 3D printer also. Bravo for your efforts. If I lived closer, I'd come work for you. ;-)
Nice work. Inspired me to do it at my workshop. Thanks
Mineral oil is great as mold release, i use car mineral oil just because it's what I have in hand
To save time you could make it so the stamps are properly attached to the soldering iron and you just press the object on top of it
It is nice method for finish the plastic and nice method for use.
"Welcome to a new preshplastic video!" XD
Good job .
Awesome projects....I really love plastic products
I am so impressed by this! Thank you so much for posting - I hope to try this myself.
Your video is good idea, I love your Idea
Really love those rocks. Nice work on your techniques.♡ Thanks for sharing.
Superb video
I'm curious, would freezing the softer plastic make it any stiffer and easier to get smoother using the techniques you used for the harder plastics?
As I know, yes. But as you start sanding it It's heats up in some seconds.
Some types of plastics become very brittle when frozen. Idk which ones.
Awesome dude.
Thanks for all your efforts!
Pura Vida!
Dave you need to do something about your site! I went to add a pin, joined / loged in and went somewhere all together different to the map to pin.
I suggest you a challege for the community:
build a 100 liter tanker or bucket or barrel from shredded material (for instance in HDPE) or smaller size item.
It could lead to develop NEW blueprints of a new machine to include in our list.
It would be useful to add to the container a sloping roof and gutters AND collect rainwater with tankers made out of recycled plastic
I hope someone will design some molds for these useful everyday objects:
snow shovel
bucket and spade for chidren
seasand toys
duplo-like bloks
GREETINGS FROM PADOVA - ITALY
Raimondo
Raimondo Barbera boats would be cool. Has anybody tried rodeo kayaks from recycled plastic already?
That's easy. Just a wood form, jig and the extruder
metzindustries don't know. Those boats need to be fairly rigid, some structural work is needed to get that right.you would do it in half molds and weld the parts together. Probably a negative to get the outside nice. They are rotary molded in production.
There would be some opportunities in doing boats like the "Reverso" sailing Dinghy from reclaimed HDPE. It's 4 parts so the molds wouldn't be that big. I just did a 4 part sailing Dinghy and I am looking into the next one right now. Maybe I got myself some new goal.
Easy, add chopped strand fiberglass to it 20% volume or milled carbon fiber
Boats are easy. Roto mold. Make it as two boats at once, saw it length wise. Use a Teflon coated iron and heat gun to smooth and finish it
can you show some products made from used plastic water/soda/juice bottles. Thx
Hey Dave!! Uh...I don't have the equipment....cuz I'm not old enough, but would you an experiment? Just use PET transparent plastic soda bottels and make something. I just want to know that the product is transparent or it become white(colour depends).
Btw tbh you're inspiring!
wow, how long did that "rock" take to make? I'd love a set of them for garden decorations :D lol
This is like pressing coloured vinyl, its so fucking fantastic
thanks a lot you really helped me in every video you make
To add your product, add removable dye cast lettering & it could imprint into the side of the product.
a major issue with many DIY guys fho cast, lazer cut, 3dprint things is that they've got no clue what product they should create to make profit
Terima kasih infonya brother, sangat berguna semoga diberi kesehatan & terus memberi inspirasi 🤓
Perfect to make a floor similar to a marmol, with a litle layer of epoxy, shiny and fancy .
Hi Dave, I'd like to see an overview of the plastic recycling mechanism. And if it is possible to dissolve plastic I'd like to know in what solution. Thank you.
Hello, I'm French and I'm in love into your way of recycling plastic!
I'm thinking you can gain some time if you put your coin stamp on a iron solder?
Can u teach how make plastic bricks for construction?
Man-made materials are becoming more and more sought after. Have you checked the prices for Bakelite lately? I bought a small block on eBay a few weeks ago. It will fit in the palm of your hand and it cost me almost $500. It’s a beautiful color, and there was many bidders trying to win the auction. It’s unbelievable what those small pieces of plastic are worth today. Maybe one day your plastic will be the same! Bakelite, catalin, Galalith, casein, micarta.... The list goes on
You could also acetone vapour bath things made from ABS as it gives a very smooth surface
Hi Dave, thanks for your info: one very basic question about the "homemade moulds" / which metal are you using for making them?
That's beautiful, brethren. I'm glad I saw it.
As I've suggested add a line of flat ground markers to your line. You have an endless line of product.
I love this channel.
Great guys! Thanks.
now this is art
Me encanta..que bueno es tu trabajo.
Hi Dave, I think that the solution is stop creating plastic, and use your own container all times you need.
A good example is the plastic bags in Spain, you paid for a platic bag, so now everybody use their plastic or fabric bags, and they only buy new plastic bags when they need.
So the solution is pay for the container, like food trays, and user your own container, because I can see that the plastic bin in two days is full of plastic "waste".
I think the motivation is important, and a big motivation is the money in this world.
"buy new plastic bags when they need." So what happens to the old bags in that case? Those should be recycled. So here we are. :-)
On the flexible plastics you can use a heat gun to get it smooth and shiny
Custom artist signature stamps...
you are a genius
Вы делаете очень большое дело! Благодарю!
can we make clear plastic?
Watchmakers use a product called Crystal Clear on plastic crystals. I think it might work well on the harder plastics. You can get it on line easily.
Any videos on how to make glitter or get a metallic/mirror like finish
Greatest pollution Industry of all time high.
Run away, you know off world
In USA, China, HK Thailand, Philippines, France
I see everything packed in plastic
Gone are the days of returning glass bottles to get discount from local bottlers
I guess you could say with those coins you're really gonna CHANGE the plastic community!! Change!! Get it?!? GET IT!!?!?!
Really cool info
How is that vase in the background made!? it looks amazing! is it molded in 'freehand' or is it molded over something else?
Baru kali ini saya nonton iklan tidak di skip walau durasi agak panjang 😆
Beautiful
Would be very nice if those coins had a metal stud out the back that could be threaded to screw into the soldering iron. Then you could quickly stamp each piece without having to use pliers to handle it.
I would love to make the boulders. You true know your stuff. Investing.
Gooood man!
can you do a video on how to make these blocks
Great!! Thanks a lot!!
Great ingenuity
Thank you for sharing!
How well do wood-planes or spoke-shaves do? I'd think they'd do well considering how the knife did, but they might be too sharp to get much friction.
Love the 'coins' for marking the plastic, but couldn't find them in the bazaar. What category are they in? If you can include a link here it would be great!
Love your work
Make it thicker for floor tiles.
awesome vid! the scraping sound killed me though, headphone wearers beware! :D
What sort of plastic did you use to make the iphone case?
Could you mix the hard plastics with the hard plastics?
well yea
Incredible
Excelente video, muy bueno
Did you mixed any substance while melting the pastic
What kind of plastic is used for kayak paddle?
good work my dude
Hi Dave!! I'm looking to set up an operation in my city. I would love to get in touch with you to learn more about how to set this up. I look forward to hearing from you :)
