First heard this walking into a smoky downstairs club in Germany back in the mid 70s. As soon as I hear it again, I'm taken straight back to that night, the noise, smoke, booze, sweat and the music. As you say, Framk Zappa, poet and genius - who else rhymes poncho and unconcho?!
How talented was Frank Zappa, he was so fun with this unusual lyrical content, my father was a fan of him. And the music so well elaborated with lots of instrumentation. Frank was a genious there will not be another like him . He was awesome👍👏🏻🧞♂️🎵🎶xoxoxo Nala I miss her🐶
I always thought Mark Knopfler stole his entire Sultans Of Swing guitar concept from these fills.
An absolute classic both musically and lyrically. The saxes, the keyboards, great drums. Keep it up Rory.
Actually, I was very busy then.
Always thought this could be a radio hit if it had different lyrics
He had such a facinating mind for music....it's always fun listening to him he had a great sense of humour 😂😂😂
Another example of conceptual continuity, in this song the line is she could throw a mean Tarot, in a token of my extreme from Joe's garage the line is don't you be Tarot-fied.
Zappa singing about goth chicks before there were goth chicks. 😏
Well, if archetypal hippie Grace Slick was also a proto-goth as some say...the heroine of this song is in the same vein.
Fantastic song & album - one of my favourites! When I play this around my grandkids they're probably thinking that Granny is a really weird freak.......lol
Did you notice the Mermaid at the right hand bottom of the frame in the cover artwork getting cornholed with an actual corn cob!! Zappa did not give 2 F#@ks, For Real! Gotta love him...
@leddygee1896 - Frank didn't create this album cover artwork, he just approved it. Dave McMacken was the artist.
@@Frunobulax74 He did tell Dave what to include in the artwork though, it's Franks vision

"She had a snake for a pet " ... To put us in the ambiance listen carefully at the very beginning of the song, you can hear the rattlesnake (shake tambourine)!
This is the "original" arrangement of the song - in this form it had a brief zenith onstage as a good-timey piano/guitar-jam. Then, the following year, it all went "wrong" (sort of) as he introduced the sped-up/slowed-down version which begat Muffin Man.
I always wonder if this is Zappa's answer to "Norwegian Wood" - if you follow the lyrics
This always makes me imagine Tom Bombadil's wife.
Kind of reminds me of Warren Zevon," Werewolves Of London" same flow and the backing you called it i think. That was an awesome track, the one and only Frank Zappa!! Awesome reaction Rory and thank you Doug awesome request!! 😊💓🤘✌️
@@Royale_with_Cheeze - I'm still grooving to Thing-Fish. Have you ever heard Thing-Fish - The Real Tapes bootleg? If not, it's on here. Frankie left out some good sh*t from the release. You should give it a listen, jes' to check it all out befo' he dump't it in de wattuh supply.
All I said was, it reminded me of "Werewolves Of London" I know the song came later, did I say something wrong? 😊✌️
@@Royale_with_Cheeze did I say something wrong? 😊✌️
@@Royale_with_Cheeze I understand that but I was just saying it reminded me of that song, sometimes I write my comments when while listening to the song. I know "werewolves" came later, so yes the credit goes to Frank Zappa for Camarillo Brillo. Maybe I should stop commenting, all I do is screw up.
@@laurawatters914 - Laura, PLEASE don't stop posting. You are one of only a few women that comment. I enjoy reading your comments.
The hornsection at the end is fire!
Rory, you misspelled Camarillo in the title.
Hola Rory sugiero escuches un genio Charly Gracia en un tema llamado "Hipercandombe" o " La grasa de las capitales" las joyas del rock nacional Argentino. ❤
Disculpa el líder es Charly Garcia el grupo es Segu Giran besos
All around great, but instrumentally, fucking plutonium. The percussion tracks alone sound like a drumming clinic (advanced level) and the rest of the band also performs admirably. Frank really knew how to put a song together.
Awesome album from a musical genius
