  • The Quality Inn Crab and Shrimp Boil did not disappoint. I love switching things up with a Zatarans crab boil, it’s a delicious change up. Great time crabbing in the St Johns River. I did better this year than last, which was fantastic.
    Purposefully set the traps in the 'shallows' and boy did it pay off. I did really well on two trips out and caught over 30 crabs each time.
    Today I used Menhaden as my bait with a tiny bit of Shad in 4 of the traps, with great success. I went back and baited with chicken for my next video.
    Hope you all enjoyed. I had a blast and got a delicious meal out of the deal!

    Awesome Video Brad. Love seeing you out and about. Did you Shrimp of Palatka pier and with Castnet or Trap? Hope you and your Family are all safe after Hurricane. My son said a few Tornados in PSL but all good. Mom was in Cocoa Beach and Brother in Rockledge but all good there too. See you soon, be safe out there and God Bless.

      Hey, thanks! I went out on the dock of the Quality Inn right there on the river. Used a castnet and some shrimp bait pellets. Did ok, shrimp were very small at the time I was there. Glad to hear the family is safe. Mine is too. Scary scene with the tornados. Lots of damage across northern Palm Beach to St Lucie. Thanks Greg

    Great Video Brad! Really like your TRAVEL series. If you get tired of that old single coil burner you could upgrade to a portable single burner induction model. Thanks!

    Brad, how do you determine the length of the rope for the cage? There are times I’ve watched when it seems as though the length of the line is shorter than others. How do you determine that?

    • @How_I_Caught_Crabs
      @How_I_Caught_Crabs  2 дня назад

      Well I have a few sets of traps. All with varying lengths of rope attached. One set is my short rope, these are for the places that are more shallow as not to get wrapped up in propellers. Others require a little more rope depending on the way I set them and the waterway.
      Intracoastal has some deep channels so I make sure to have about 25ft of rope when setting out there. I check out the water depths of an area online before I go, so I know what I’m in for.

      @@How_I_Caught_Crabs thanks for the info. I have no knowledge of crab traps. I use your videos to venture out periodically and go crabbing but thanks for sharing…
