    Greetings from Spain. I wish I could help people trying to protect nature. I am also a bird lover and because of humanity a lot of beautiful animals are going exctinct. Mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish. They are all beautiful. But by humanity they go exctinct and never come back to life. You guys are amazing for doing this.

    vsaka čast, sam tudi prostovoljno vsako leto ob čistilnih akcijah pomagam čistiti nabrežje Drave (jezero med mariborom in falo) in moram priznat, da smo pobrali že za več ton smeti, ki je naplavilo vse iz avstrije, prav žalostno je videt. Ampak ja, tak dalje, en svet imamo, treba ga je vzdrževat.

      @BeBraveToAct  24 дня назад +4

      I am independent filmmaker, but I was working as a camera man for some Mossy Earth videos. They are awesome.
      DOPPS in Slovenia - the organization which is creating and managing the islands and whom I've joined for this action are also doing quite good. They are part of the Birdlife and also at least some part of funding (if not all - not sure about that) for the island creation is given from the hydroelectric power plant.

    • @BeBraveToAct
      @BeBraveToAct  24 дня назад +3

      is it in Slovenia or Slovakia? I am not sure if they have something in Slovenia. In Slovakia they have "flooding forest" project, I was there and was filming one episode for them. But if have something in Slovenia that awesome too

    would it make sense to expand how large the islands are, or make floating islands?

    • @BeBraveToAct
      @BeBraveToAct  24 дня назад +1

      you mean to make them larger ? From what I understood for now it's sufficient. But if the population of birds will continue to grow (hopefully) then they will need more islands :)

  • @Agapimo
    @Agapimo 25 дней назад +1

    A Win-Win for the hydroelectric company to have use for silt accumulation and for nature🏆More islands and use goats 🐐 to clear and can also plant with native endangered plants 🌱

    • @BeBraveToAct
      @BeBraveToAct  25 дней назад

      yeah for hydroelectric company it's also a way to get rid of sediment. Good idea about native plants

    Had a question -
    Why is there not a single tree on the island ?
    I am sure it will provide shade as well as shelter is there a reason for not having one ....
    By the way love your work

    • @BeBraveToAct
      @BeBraveToAct  25 дней назад +2

      Good question, I don't know, but there is one Island which I haven't visited, and it was full of trees. The cormorants loves it, it supports a large colony of them. But it also very close to the shore, so many birds avoid nesting on it.

    I want to make an island for the critters, and I will include myself as one of the critters. I'm not sure about the legality here in the States. Maybe Virginia would be upset if a new island popped up in the Chesapeake Bay 😂.

    • @BeBraveToAct
      @BeBraveToAct  26 дней назад

      yes, some of the species would disappear from this area. As it's only breeding and nesting sites for them.

    Now then, let’s get to the source of the problem. Feral Cats.

    • @BeBraveToAct
      @BeBraveToAct  24 дня назад

      Yes cats kills a lot of birds each year, But that's not the case in lake Ptuj. Because all birds nesting and breeding sites where on many islands where no cat could get to. The problem was a dam which was build and flooded these natural islands.

    Yall do know that the Rats would eventually eat the Bird eggs yall would have to capture them and relocated them away from the Islands

    • @BeBraveToAct
      @BeBraveToAct  21 день назад

      that was one of the smallest rats in the world on this island, and they can't eat the eggs. so it's all good

    Sediments are avoided for the heavy metals and pesticides. It isn't special, it is negligent to use.

    So let me get this straight...you guys made an environment that you have to destroy to create a more suitable environment for endangered birds?...and it worked?! Not sure if leaving it the hell alone would have been easier and more effective but im glad it was made.

    • @BeBraveToAct
      @BeBraveToAct  Месяц назад +7

      it's not "we" who destroyed the environment. You are talking about 2 different groups of people. The 1st one who build a dam to produce electricity which was already in 1970's . And 2nd group of people of bird conservationists who decided to do something because 2 bird species became extinct after the dam was build. Leaving it alone of course would be easier, but in this case there would be no breeding and nesting birds in this area and for some species even in the whole Slovenia
