I was the AST on Iconoclasm and let me tell you what when I looked down and realized I didnt have LB3 on my bars and had to fish it out of my spellbook mid fight right when that bar filled up... I don't think my heart's ever beaten so fast @@;;;;;;
2 fun things for this. 1st: the coffee biscuits thing is actually a crafting reference. At the time, one of the best and easiest ways to make gil was to make a bunch of coffee biscuits and turn them into the leve person in the crystarium. Was like 30k gil for 9 or something, cant recall. Super easy money, but they had so many turned in that they started making jokes about it. 2: e7s (the hard version of portal birb fight) is in the running for easiest savage fight ever (and prolly is strait easiest). This is to the degree their portal mechanics are easier to do than normal modes, and beyond that it just largely hits harder. Only hard part is at the end, and high dps lets you skip most of it.
I must say, I love the editing here. Mostly by including stuff I enjoy seeing, like you two getting what you missed with the portals and the vod rewatch. Not everyone would include that, but I think its part of the first time experience of this that I am here to watch.
I love how Ifrit and Titan is barely remembered while Garuda looks more or less the same. I love how it's canon that my WoL only remembers Garuda as well 😂
I laughed super hard at the dial up modem sound during the oops-all-circles mechanic. And my trainer had me do abs/core a few days ago so that belly laugh is really hurting but I can't stop. 10/10 editing.
Oh dear. The tooltip related to astral and umbra magic with the white and purple attacks on iconoclasm actually does mean that Kyle was onto something about Ascians using purple magic.
30:31 --- I had an idea there when you didnt keep the adds apart... Usually, when there are two adds, you keep them apart because they get a buff or something. And when they stay alive too long, its a mini-enrage. Also, the portals are more like gates, with an entry and an exit ;) 39:13 --- Thats pretty much every raid mechanic in FF14 ever :D They introduce you slowly, step by step, and then they start mixing it up and in savage they go wild XD
The savage version is possibly the least liked eden raid, or at least was when relevant which is when I did it. E8S saved this tier in savage, rest are just boring.
They're the Daytona USA seagulls ;x Looking from the side, the first portals in the red/blue give a hint- they're concave. Funnels. Kyle eating a bowl full of oranges is always solid gold too :3
Yeah, I know how Iconoclasm works. I still have maybe a 60% success rate on the later mechanics. My static is going back through this one with a new member soon and I anticipate wiping a few other times with the other 7 people anyway.
Doubt on the hardest, people would just tank Lb3 the one portal mechanic that happens in the fight where the braindead strat is used. Rest of the fight is resident sleeper outside of the add phase. I mean for fucks sakes it literally starts with a whole minute of NOTHING happening.
Oh man, you have no idea how brutal 6 is on savage. The only unfortunate thing is that you never got to see anyone get launched into space. It's one of the best parts of the fight. But yes, your initial impressions are correct. Being a melee for 6 is awful, and Dragoon was the worst of them. To the point the devs apologized for the fight design. It was so bad that your jumps had a high chance of killing you due to the timings of them and when they came up during mechanics.
I was gonna say "what? 6 was like extreme levels easy" then I read that you were a melee...I was a healer lmfao, and I was thoroughly unchallenged in all of verse, even Shiva (although Shiva was tough mechanically)
I attribute it to having played Portal and Portal 2 enough to break my brain in a specific enough way to just automatically process portal mechanics when they happen.

I understand Iconoclasm, but I will always hate this fight. The color matching alway messes with me and I just can't keep up with all the other mechanics. This is the only fight in the game I have this problem with...
For me, the teleports were the worst. I have a super wonky keyboard-only during battle keybind arrangement, and I'm on legacy cam to boot so I could never spin my camera around fast like someone who uses right click on a mouse could. My savage static had to make some adjustments to our teleport strategy because of the precision needed, and me needing to not try to change camera angles mid fight. I think I ended up swapping positions with one of the healers.

Bosses in ff14 will "teach" you their mechanics before they start to mix them up
