Jessica I approve this video. I think you should be speaking both igbo and English in your videos going forward. It is indeed interesting. I love Ukwa. It's one of my best foods ever. Looks like I will cook ukwa today. The only thing I don't like about ukwa is drinking the water. I definitely enjoyed watching this video.

Chibuike maybe you drank the mmiri ukwa from dry ukwa? It is one of the most tasteless things ever. But mmiri ukwa from fresh ukwa; really fresh ukwa, not the one they mixed and matched in the market, is delicious.

Ukwa is cheap in my village Ooo
a few trees actually grow near our ancestral homestead
The advice based on anecdotal evidence is never ever to stand under an Ukwa tree. This is because the heavy fruits fall when they are ripe. The average weight of a fruit is about 6-8kg. So if it falls on anybody's head that is bye bye to life on earth.
Ukwa is a nice high protein food. Its a very versatile food, can be a main meal, snack, you name it.
Its actually easier to wash by putting in a sieve and under running water to rinse and wash out any grit
Before its first cleaned, there is a viscous coating on the seeds, after the first ever washing, its then spread out in the sun, being as a lot of the people who process Ukwa in the village lack some of the resources which will ensure that its not contaminated with grit, it has to be cleaned thoroughly otherwise grit will ruin the ukwa eating experience.
Unless you own majority shares in a Gas and Electric company, never attempt cooking Ukwa, without doing it with a pressure cooker.
    Awesome food.

All you need for dry Ukwa water is to make sure the Ukwa is very soft, and you have part of the starch in the water, slightly thick, along with little flavoring while cooking; like bitterleaf, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper, or any other ingredient you prefer. Nothing compares to fresh Ukwa taste. I prefer the main dish with bitterleaf, palm-oil, and a little smoked fish. Yummy.

Ok,u cooked it just like my husband's people and that way I will never crave for ukwa 😅the first day I ate I rushed out to spit it and they all laughed at me,imagine eating ukwa no salt, just plain (u even added salt sef,u tried😅)
Me,I love ukwa agwolagwo, though we don't use palm oil,but white popped corn, ugba, habanero pepper (green ones)and salt, then the the water.

my best part in the video is the dancing while eating. am not a fan of ukwa but when i was pregnant the crave for it was at its peak.it gives me gas just like beans, egusi soup, milke, egg.
