      Why thanks so much for the praise, John! I really appreciate it! I did spend loads of time on this video, but it was a labour of love to recap the really fabulous time we had in the city. I'm happy to hear that I even shared a few new things with you... that asian/international food court had some tasty food at reasonable prices. I think the massive student population helps drive some lower priced food options. That food court (Renshaw St Food Market is the official name) was just down the street from the bombed out church... one of my fave places in the city.

    Great video Dara, and you included Cilla, l've been to Liverpool a few times but never for pleasure. The problem is that Liverpool and it's people have had a rough ride with various governments especially. Thatcher. Will be making our way this summer and visit many of the places you highlighted. Should mention Everton football club and the rival between the two Merseyside clubs. Thanks

    • @MagentaOtterTravels
      @MagentaOtterTravels  Год назад +2

      Yes, I did not adequately discuss the rivalry with Everton. And my worst offense is that I showed the construction of the Everton stadium without clarifying that was Everton not Liverpool! This is what happens when a clueless person who is not a football fan edits her own videos! Lol Even though I had a few "fumbles" in the football section, I am proud of the video overall and really enjoyed our stay in Liverpool. I hope you have a wonderful visit as well! Cheers! Dara

    I'm from the North West of England originally, so I'm pleased to see you enjoying the area! I love Liverpool, and agree that scousers are an amazing bunch.
    A place in the area that I really love, but rarely seems to get mentioned in Liverpool travel vlogs despite being very photogenic, is nearby Crosby Beach. I don't know if it's a beach that people would go to tan or swim, but what makes it worth a visit is the art installation Another Place by Antony Gormley, which is made up of 100 iron figures gazing out to see. At high tide they're mostly in the water, at low tide they're mostly exposed, but either way they're really cool to see.

      @@MagentaOtterTravelsI am from Liverpool and the best unknown Liverpool band internationally are called "Shack from the late 1980s- early 2000s" led by the Head brothers Mick and John Head, also another legendary Liverpool band from the 1980s "Teardrop Explodes" led by the zany but mind blowing Julian Cope, check these bands out, both Mick Head and Julian Cope are still recording and have a big cult following......by the way I grew up loving the Beatles and John Lennon was my childhood hero, RIP John and George.

    Great video, what alot of American's miss when they come to my city are the two very important USA linked buildings: First is the only Confederate Embassy established during the US civil war, Embassy of the Confederacy at 19 Abercromby Square and then there is one of the first US consulates set up after the war of independence in 1790 at Paradise street, it's amazing how everyone walks passed it without noticing the US Golden eagle adorning the front of the building.

    I was born and raised in Liverpool but may I just add a few things. Otterspool was constructed from what was extracted from the first Mersey Tunnel. The first Lambana was yellow like a banana. All Americans should go to Paradise Street opposite John Lewis store. It has a golden coloured eagle high up to find it. Out of all these video's I've been watching since RUclips came out Ive never heard any of you talk about Liverpool FREEING our colonial place you now call AMERICA. Only for one perticuLAR scouser you would be just another one of the British Commonwealth. You never even mentioned that the very first ever American Embassy was in Liverpool and you where right by it many times but failed to go there. I was a SCOUSER who gave Americans Then British folk across the pond The place it is today. Who I hear you say? Well that's for you to tell me.Look at all your famous papers and there is only one name on all but one paper. That man was the richest man in the world at that time. Died a Pauper and a Traiter of England and all his property taken from him hence you will NEVER see his name on any of his building that are all still there, ( you went past a few in your video, There are graves specially made at a church in Philadelphia with all the people who signed the papers. Look forward to hearing back from you hmmm if you can be bothered. Thanks for sharing Ray K UK YNWA,
