the bootleg copy actually forces your company to fail, doesn't it? by making EVERY game you make flop because of pirates? also they added that effect as a separate thing called "pirate mode" as an ultra-hard-mode. And as of at least 2015, minor piracy was a normal part of the game

"Buy this game or I'll become homeless" is basically a parody of Square's 'Final Fantasy' if you think about it. They sold meh game after meh game and they were going to go under so they made a game that referenced their impending doom as 'Final Fantasy' and it ended up becoming a hit.
Huh, this simulator is more realistic than we realise.
You'll be surprised how many of them were like that. And it was the timing as others felt that way.
I dont know if it is true but i heard that the real reason was that they wanted to name it final figth but the name was already trademarked so they chose final fantasy

This is basically how Final Fantasy was born. A failing company survived thanks to their last fucking game.
Dead Or Alive is called that way because the game needed to be a success otherwise the studio had to close down.
Actually though, didn't this myth already debunked by the creator of Final Fantasy himself? The company was indeed in a dire situation at that time, but the creator never meant to imply that this game is their last hope. The creator just wanted its abbreviation to be "FF", which sounds cool, then Final Fantasy just so happens to be chosen as the full name of "FF".
So Final Fantasy isn't called that way because it is their last hope or anything.

Another reason was, however, that the creator would stop developing games and go back to university if the game flopped. So, yes, it had nothing to do with the company closing down, but rather because he would have quit making games.
