I’m so glad to see you doing videos again and enjoy sharing all your observations you have about France. Thank you taking your viewers along your journey.
Great job, Janice! Your reflections about the pace of life in France and the freedom we gain from adaptation is spot on. I am 69 and moved to the Dordogne from the States almost 3 years ago. It hasn't always been easy but life in this beautiful and charming country is well worth it. Take care!
As a psychologist its very common for the dream/fantasy we create in our minds is not always met in reality. You had a good attitude about keeping flexible and open to things to come in our journeys. An open mind provides more opportunities for great adventures we may not have imaged. Life is like a fine wine to be savored. Our age difference is only a few years apart.
But you still can realize your dream.! 74 years old is still young., if you have your health. I'm 73 and have been realizing lots of dreams. Better yet, I think that at this age we can appreciate things we did not care for when young and care less for some things that were important back then.

@@mtngrl5859 the "process" was not the issue and actually very enjoyable and we would do it again just in another country. It was in the everyday dealings with the natives, so to speak. We hated leaving but ....
@@mistygirl3995 By process, I meant dealing with the bureaucracy which ultimately means dealing with the people. Having lived in a number of countries on different continents I have found that people, no matter where they live, are the same in many respects: they are busy with school, work, family, paying bills, getting ahead in life. Most haven't even seen a lot of their own countries. Many haven't visited nearby historic or cultural sites. They don't seem to view their environment as romantic or exotic. The stereotypes associated with different nationalities may have a degree of truth but they are nevertheless stereotypes; with globalization they are even less accurate, especially in Europe where the demographics are changing. I remember a Woody Allen film in which Allen walks down a street in Paris wearing a beret and carrying a baguette. Everyone in the cinema laughed - laughed because we all knew that Allen was living out the image so many have of Paris. It's often the foreigner who appreciates what locals take for granted or fail to appreciate.
