I'm autistic as well. When I first started middle school, I was so terrified at the sight of people that I was shaking real bad. I used to get bullied by people saying that I was not enough. Now I'm in high school and doing better than ever. People don't Bully me anymore, my anxiety is getting better, and I'm surrounded by an amazing group of friends. Thank you 😊 for supporting the autistic community!!!

Even certain family members don’t know how to interact with my son, because he reacts differently to everything and can’t communicate his feelings or needs well. It is a well known that many people on the spectrum don’t like eye contact when talking, so why setup the chairs facing each other so closely?
Also, the Terminology used was a bit condescending. They went straight into talking to the sister, and used the word little twice, “Little videos, and little bag”. I also feel they might not have given a list of questions ahead.
I felt like I could in real time see him processing the words just as I was.

Your comment is a great example of why Ryan and others with autism feel that the message, "autism is NOT an illness" is so important. Although the rest of your comment is sweet, and the beginning of your comment doesn't seem to be ill-intentioned - there is nothing "wrong" with people who have autism. As Ryan and his mother described - autism is just a different way of how the brain functions, but it does not make a person any less, and again, it isn't an illness, so while I cannot speak for the people who have autism as I do not - I would imagine that the beginning of your comment is quite offensive, and I advise that you remove this comment, and re-comment with the first 5 words removed. Ryan "seems fine" because he is fine. There is nothing wrong with him.

I hate having autism spectrum disorder because when you have parents who don’t understand the disability it is not easy. I had it so mild growing up and now most people can’t tell I’m on the spectrum at all….but I had a mother with her own mental health issues that was more like abuse and that is not something to be happy about. I think what needs to be shared more about autism is also the fact that parents don’t always have the tools to deal with a child who has a different way of thinking. Autism spectrum disorder is a disability but it also isn’t. It is a different genetic wiring in your brain as he said here. We need more awareness especially to parents who need to understand that they cannot force us to think a certain way. Also me having mild autism and PTSD is really hard but thankfully I have a great therapist who I see every week. Anyway this is a very sweet story.

I relate to you and your comment. Growing up was difficult, and my parents never understood what was going on with me. Back in the 70’s and 80’s Autism was not a well known “disorder”, so I suffered in silence. I could not tell them exactly how I felt, I just knew I was different. Now that I’m almost 50, it’s great to see more parents become aware of ASD. I am still unable to do some daily activities, but I do have family that support me.

I think she’s used him for money and learned to deal with him for the money. It’s kind of sad. They started to get along when she started making money. Nice.

I thought his favorite player was Captain Coby White 😀. Anytime Coby White plays well, I think about Rye Guy.
