Neighbors upset over HOA parking rules

  • Residents of a subdivision in Ocoee say they're upset the HOA is cracking down on street parking.

    You know what, if people have known these issues which they'll face when living in HOA community, I don't think not many people are willing to buy those houses.

    The old new board takes up the old rules dealio....... just buy a non-HOA home. There are nice ones out there. You can always build a custom house n your own lot. But in an HOA you never now what thye will come up with.

      I just don’t understand why people choose to buy in Deed Restricted Communities without reading governing documents first. Also, garages are not meant to be storage, they are meant to be for cars. If the resident chooses to use it differently then that is on them not the HOA.

      @@guelmisyanes101 There is only an illusion of choice in most areas of the US. Most metro areas including surrounding suburbs require HOAs now for developers to build. They usually (often) include similar deed restrictions and covenants which are broadly worded and are vague at best. HOA boards and management companies and developers and real estate agents take advantage of home buyers/owners and can make up new rules at their whim and will even do so outside of their legal authority because there is nothing you can do other than sue them with your own money while the HOA fights you in court with your and your neighbor's money. You could read the covenants and find out that the board interprets it exactly the opposite of what it says but due to a will placed comma, you are now forced to act on their whim or face a lien or foreclosure. It's wrong. I am a many time Board member and have seen it personally. Boards have al the power. To find a place without an HOA or covenants that might lead to an HOA one day is rare especially when trying to look in many areas. My board president-treasurer (he wasnt allowed to hold both but did) in one home I lived in, parked his third vehicle in the street in violation of covenants, and would fine people who complained for having items in their garage despite the fact that they were parked in their own garage or driveway and despite he was violating the parking covenants. HOAs need to be reeled in as they are fundamentally corrupt and play to the wickedest people in the community's desire for power.

    Statue of limitations on HOA covenant enforcement is 3 years. They abandoned their convenants for 30 years. They will lose in court

    @1:05 "4 cars and a "tiny" Garage". That's a 2 car garage, and room for 2 more cars in the driveway. If you needed more than that (in this case she does not) you should have purchased a different home.

      No family knows who many kids they are going to have and now they are even making abortion illegal. I have a large extended family and some of my relatives have moved in with me.

    people think they can park any where they want! There are rules and law against parking in the street ,tow all of them !

      What if I make a mistake and my wife gets pregnant again? We don't have parking for another kid. Are you suggesting we get an abortion? Well we can't because there's a new law against that.
