The streetcar horns need to sound more distinctive, like the two-tones horns on the Belgian coast trams. The pedestrians don't seem to know that it's a streetcar bearing down on them.

I've been saying the same thing! Many American light rail vehicles have electronic train horns instead of the car horns our streetcar have.

What he means is we're lucky to have streetcars on Toronto transit system. Especially the new ones, make known that it's differences on horns makes it distinct from other streetcar systems.
