  • This time around, I gave the only black and white offering from Kodak a tri. I was a little worried about nailing exposure but it appears the Nizo really handled it well.
    Shot with Nizo S560
    Processed with care and transferred by Niagara Film Lab in Toronto.

    looks amazing! I've been using Niagara as well and shoot a lot of Tri-X. The cat is incredibly sharp! My cameras were always pretty bunk and I've never gotten super sharp results like this Nizo.

    1. This footage is absolutely gorgeous and it's a video I find myself returning to frequently when I'm in the middle of shooting a roll of Tri-X and I wanna remind myself what it's gonna look like cuz I take way too long to finish anything. The cat shots are especially wonderful!!
    2. What is the name of the music that's playing with it?? I'm totally obsessed with this track.

      Thank you! I appreciate it. I can't recall what it is, it is from a stock music site!

    Just got a roll of this! Excited to shoot it in my Nizo 116.
    Did you cut a notch so that your camera would recognize this as 160asa and not 100asa?
    I’m also a little worried about exposure haha. I was told that 100/160 use the same notch pin, but if you cut a notch for the built in filter it will expose it as 160, similar to a 200T cartridge.
    Anyways, guess I’ll shoot it and see!
    Great video!

    Hello! I have a question: Was it really sunny outside when you shot this? Because I am thinking of buying this for a trip to Vegas and I am worried that it would not handle how bright and sunny it is over there.
    Awesome footage by the way!

      Thank you! Some of it was and some of it wasn’t. The Nizo rated it at 160 so the exposure is a little off here and there. I was surprised at how well the images came out though.

    Superb video thanks again! Do you know if the Tri-X was processed as reversal (positive) or negative?

    • @dustinveitch2825
      @dustinveitch2825  5 месяцев назад

      It was processed as positive! I wasn't sure how it would come out since my camera can only read up to 160 ISO but it looks pretty good I would say.

      @@dustinveitch2825 very good! The frame registration looks excellent on that camera. I am also impressed you got the exposure correct because I think it is harder to get exposure correct with Tri-X as reversal than if you process it as negative! So if you rated ISO 160 I think a little overexposure helped you. Thanks again for the beautiful video! BTW - your cat is very pretty!

    Beautiful film, Dustin! convinced me to buy the 560. One question I can't work out - do you use exposure compensation on -1 t expose for 200D film? (TriX is 200D, right?) Orf how do you do it? Thanks!

    • @dustinveitch2825
      @dustinveitch2825  Год назад +1

      Thank you! The 50D is wild for detail for sure. For the 200D, 500T, 50D, and Tri-X (rated at 320 positive) all I did was throw it in and hope for the best. It was the Tri X that had me worried since it is a positive and has limited range. The problem with the Nizo is that it only goes up to 160 so unless I expose manually, it’ll overexpose. That being said, I don’t want to waste time metering so I just went with it! Long story short, the exposure doesn’t matter as much as you think it does.

      Thanks! Yes, I did but only a little bit here and there. I wanted to boost the contrast a bit hit most of it was how it came from the lab.

    What resolution did you scan the 8mm Tri-X at? Is there any benefit to going above 2K scan?

    • @dustinveitch2825
      @dustinveitch2825  Год назад

      If I had money to burn, then yeah, 4K would be great but probably overkill.
