    She was so beautiful, smart, solid and elegant. Even Howard Hughes thought that she was. He was very attracted to her. She was the great friend of Robert mitchum, and these two made a great couple of cinema. I like the fact that she,later, took her distance with Hollywood. She was religious, far from the sodome & gomorre of the wrongly city named Los Angeles. Rip Madam.

    The most beautiful American brunette ever. I have been in love with her since I saw her in TV in 'Double Dynamite' with Frank Sinatra and Groucho Marx 50 years ago.

    A friend of mine was very good friends with Jane. He had nothing but praise for her and how nice she was. Very down to earth....

    She was what she was, I have no doubt she was a good decent woman, as for serious acting skills I never saw anything to suggest she was overly talented, but she no doubt made more than a decent living, and a name that lives on. Bless her.

    Jane Russell was the godmother of my friend Darby Hinton. She was godmother to his brother and his sister as well.

    Should be more iconic than she is. A breath of down-to-earth reality in Hollywood, she also made life better for countless adopted children.

    Great, I enjoyed this. I'm sad that hollywood shafted her, but she did not shack up to get ahead. It was not her styil. She is/ was a wonderful lady of that big one era. A time when Hollywood was hollywood.

    Agreed re Jane's talent. If she'd been able to work with a string of top directors, I believe she would have been one of (or one very close to) the A-list actors remembered in her era.

    Sophia Loren went thru the same typed casting, until Vittorio De Sicca cast her in "Two Women". I ask YOU Mr.Vintage, do you think our beloved Jane Russell, could have handled the lead in "Two Women?"

    It would be nice if time warner restored the 3d version of the french line for compatible blu ray 3D polaroid and anaglyph, but they won't. Her republican well so was Clark gable, Irene Dunn, jimmy Stewart, but in the past actor put their politics, even their families aside for their art. It came first. So everyone had to get along with each other in the business in order to make a living today they don't do that anymore that's why so many films are terrible. True dick Powell converted Regan to republican, but that was behind the camera. In front, no one talked about politics while they were working. Even John Wayne and Gregory peck had to get along with each other if they had ever worked in a film together. The actor today should do the same thing especially since many fans may not agree with their personal politics, but, love their art.

    No way a feminist, Jane still showed a strong female example. She credited growing up with 4 brothers for making her fearless and 'non-vulnerable' to predatory men in real life and onscreen.

      A fine example of how one doesn't need to be a feminist to be an amazing woman..... different times

    Why wasn't Jane Russell able to so her acting chops? Mostly why most 'sex symbols' are not able to show there acting chops. Producers/directors were only interested in girls like Russell to be sexy and barely anything else! Marilyn Monroe was a much better actress than her most of movies allowed to show. So was Sophia Loren-except in Two Women which she won the Oscar. So was Lana Turner (watch her in Peyton Place!). Alot of sexy actresses were required to ONLY be sexy. It's frustrating Im sure! Only Elizabeth Taylor was allowed to show her acting chops it seems. I wonder if it had anything to do with her starting out as a child star, and being allowed to show her talent throughout her career?

    Her father was NOT a Left tenant in the US Army. We don't have left tenants and right tenants. He was a Lieutenant.

      @paulaprice493 3 года назад +1

      I’m assuming your comment is tongue in cheek. The narrator seems to be British. In the US we may say loo-tenant, in Britain it’s left-tenant. Even though the spelling is the same.

      @@patrickfreeman8257 You’re right. No F anywhere. I don’t know why they pronounce it the way they do, but they do. I watch a lot of British shows and that’s what they do. It was that way in Canada too, but I don’t know if it’s changed in the last 50 years. And Australia.
