  • The new fishing skiff has finally arrived! Until now I have been on the Australian distributors demo skiff, while it's been fun and a good chance to learn the skiff, i'v been waiting to do a proper fit out on a fresh blank canvas. Part 1 goes though the complete fit out. Part 2 will be getting the skiff onto the water!

    Awesome fitting out. I guess they could further improve the skiff with some dedicated holes with grommets for electrical cables not to mention a dedicated transducer bracket or point of attachment. Given that the transducer sticks out beyond the “bumper bar” is there a risk of bumping into another kayak and damaging it? What about weld a little ss tubing to the existing bar around the transducer to protect it? Just a thought.

    hey mate if you cant get to the other side of the hull to put a nut and bolt setup you could try nutserts or rivnuts it acts like a standard rivet but adds a thread would be good for those starports.

    • @rokkitkit
      @rokkitkit  6 лет назад +1

      Cheers mate will take a look at them. I do use the trifold rivets which are awesome and form a backing but unfortunately the side ports screw length is over 3cm! So too long for a lot of things.

    I'm curious what the sounder screen is like out in the sun?
    So many electrical devices nowadays have that wonderful glossy screen that is just amazing, as long as you don't go outside with it :)
    In some of the vid it looked like a perfect mirror, but that may have been the angle and it wasn't on either.
    I wish someone did a decent smart phone with matt screen, it'll be interesting to see this in action but it looks really solid and well designed with the plugs etc.

    Watching now!
    It looks the goods mate.
    The white matting is easy to change out once its to grotty hey?
    Love the team of you and Timmy, it would be good to see you guys do and extra channel with major missions together, much like Morning Tide. Up load every 3 months, sweet as!
    Love the ski rope style handle 😂
    How much would a skiff set ya back mate? Can they come custom?
    It’s awesome doing work with the kids around hey 👍 I was terrible with it for years but it’s definitely grown my patience 😂😂
    How awesome is Rail Blazer and they have helped you out! Sweet!
    I would love to know what that black sealant was that you use?
    Love the tape measure electrical snake 😂😂
    *tip - if you add roof and gutter silicone under your rod holder mounts and in the screw holes it acts much like a washer preventing vibration stress on your screw holes mate 👍 I used this technique for 8 years when fitting safety rails into the bathrooms of the newly disabled, works super well, amazing how much it helps.
    Can’t wait to see it in action 👍

      Thanks Collie Yak! Yep me and Tim are going to go a a pretty cool trip next week. Should be a good start to the skiffs fish hunt, i hope. Ski rope handle is a game changer, standing on these things while motoring along is so much fun! You can get a price on the skiff at Australian Kayak Specialists. The Black sealant was SikaFlex 291. and bigs thanks for the tip on putting the sealant under, I actually put two more ports on after the vid and ended up loading them up with Sikafex too so should be rock solid. Cheers Rod

    Just found your channel. These skiffs look awesome. In regards to your fitout did you consider rails? Then you could mount the rod holders on those and would give you extra tie down areas for your trips and a good grab rail to help you get back in in case you fall out. Just a thought and would be great to know if you had reasons to not go that way.

    Hey mate, looks great! Love the vlogs. What happened the Solo Skiff?? Would you recommend one?? If so how is it for offshore fishing. Would appreciate your thoughts and how you found the Solo. Looking at buying a good customizable Skiff. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks champ.

    • @rokkitkit
      @rokkitkit  6 лет назад

      Cheers mate, the first skiff was actually the first version of my new skiff, made by Stealth kayaks out of fiberglass. They are now changing and refining designs to improve on the basic skiff design. This can happen quite quick being made from fiberglass and not roto moulded. So it should behave similar to the first one offshore as the hull is pretty much the same. The weight of the solo was a bit heigh for me to consider it for a roof topper.

    Hey man i honestly looking into getting a small skiff/kayak and trying to figure out what the best option is. And judging by the lrice of these microskiffs and what you use it for, it almost seems like a small carolina skiff or boston whaler 12 or 14ft. Would be better bang for your buck. Im curious to know what your thoughts on this are. I know a lot of people love these little boats but im just wondering the advantages over a slightly larger skiff.
