One thing that should be noted here is that Remote online notarizations that are completed another state that allows them can be problematic for documents being filed in California (and in other States that do no allow RON). For example, we've had many Estate Planning clients have their trusts notarized online (from a different State) and they are trust transfer deeds which need to be recorded in California are not being accepted since California requires "persona"l appearance. While California Civil Code 1189(b) provides that any certificate of acknowledgment taken in another place shall be sufficient in this state if it is taken in accordance with the law of the place where the acknowledgment is made,” according to the SOS. I can tell you first hand that County recorders have been consistent in not accepting deeds that were Notarized via RON.
Now I'm not for or against RON right now, but I just figured that it should be noted that there is a clear discrepancy here and I'm hoping that the State clarifies one way or the other with regards to what is accepted vs what's not. Just my two cents! Hope everyone is keeping safe during this time and we're totally down with anyone trying to make things safer and easier for the public during these times of COVID-19 etc.

@@rebeccarambo2893 So in States where online Notarization is legal, you the signatory can be anywhere. As long as the Notary performing the Notarization is located in a State that does allow RON, the signatory could be located anywhere.

I'm doing a very informal 1-2 line letter that I want notarized. Does the Notary apply an image containing the standard notary fields to my document OR do "I" have to present the document with the notary section fields already on there? Hope that makes sense...

How does the signature of the user gets uploaded in the database? Is it uploaded by the user just like the verification ID and you guys scan it out and turn the signature into PNG format. Like how does the signature thing work?
They sign with their finger on mobile, with mouse on desktop/laptop

I just did Notarize. However, my attorney forwarded to San Joaquin County Recorder office and they won’t accept it. There you go.... check before you go through this process.

No. as I understand it, the person wanting the notarization done must reside in the United States in order for the document to be notarized by a Remote online notary commissioned in the state in which he lives to perform notarizations. The person would have to have her document notarized in the country she resides in. Remote online notaries are not allowed to notarize documents from other countries. no they reach out to you primarily through email or you can get work through their portal unless its a last minute then they may reach out via a phone call
This is an electronic notarization service. The notary and signer meet by a secure audio/video connection on the Notarize platform. The notary will need a computer with webcam and audio capabilities. The signer can used either a desktop, laptop with audio/video capabilities or a mobile phone.
How about if the client is not US Citizen and does not have a social security number?

Why would notarizing a document take hours? I'm sorry but that is ridiculous, it does not even take hours to notarize an entire loan package.
