- On a recent episode of the MotoXpod Show Yamaha Star Racing's Haiden Deegan talked about racing MXdN, podium interviews and mind games, Ironman and the finish line double, and much more.
Hayden is growing up. Great interview. Respect
Thank you Haiden for being you. Your dad knew he had DNGR in a boy. Love the explosive flying and riding that rear tire!
as a British guy i would love too the kid ride irl. I have followed the USA stuff more this year but have only watched the mxgp guys race in person. Im hyped to see the likes of sexton, ap, roczen and the Lawrence brothers at matterly this year. Roczen was so entertaining at wsx, cant wait to watch him again
My son and I were at buds creek when Haiden won the championship.. Can't believe how all these guys ride that gnarly track. Unbelievable athletes ! Congrats to all. Haiden was riding unreal in the first moto. Congrats for the win!
Kid is s rare not many kids have the drive and win at all costs attitude. Most riders are riding at 90 percent and are not pushing as hard
You don't know anything about what riders are doing or thinking. Riding at 90%, okay. What's the Markey going to do tomorrow since your in the know?
@@jpadilla6436 you can see it when they get off the track. 10 years ago most riders came off the track just drained. Now they come off the track looking fresh as a daisy. I am no way a fan of deegan i think he is a dick head arrogant prick. But when he has a bad moto or is not winning the kid comes off the track totally spent. I was at southwick last year hot as hell brutally rough and most of the guys came off the track barely a sweat broken.
Great interview by Deegan! He showed a lot of maturity! His future is bright because of how hard he works!
Hey, the kid is free to run his mouth-and the competition is free to try and make him eat his words. It is what it is!
and so far he’s dominated the competition most days, other days he’s flipping from his bike and not hurt
@@doglover136_ He's fun to watch!
@@jessebryant9233 definitely
⚡DANGER⚡ rode a solid season! Too bad he was cleaned out in Detroit SX. I'm hoping to see him clinch another SMX. And if he can time his wrist with MXON and still get screws in wrist removed in time for preseason training, that would be awesome. But I think it's more important that he does what's best for preseason training and focus on winning SX Title. I think he'll be ready for Chase & Jett by next Outdoor Nationals. That 2nd Ironman 250 moto was well worth watching twice! Congratulations to you Haiden, as well as Deegan Family and Star Racing Yamaha! Great outdoors season 100%
He should race MXON we need the fastest and best people representing America
His body comes before yalls pride. Let it rest, he's freaking 18.
@@byronfretz8201 exactly he's 18 he's good to go
@@johnny44k MxoN is not more important than having the extra rehab time before the SX season. Their goal is to win SX, not a pageant race. He has plenty of time to represent the US.
@@byronfretz8201 I'm not gonna argue with you dude, I'm well aware of needing rehab time before SX season... you have your own opinions and I have mine
@johnny44k well that's fine, but don't sit there and bash the kid for doing what he thinks is right for his longevity in a career. This is why he makes the big bucks, and we are just some peons arguing over stupid shit on YT. I wanted him to go just as bad as you, but I'm not mad he decided not to go and focus on healing before next season.
Best interview I have heard from deegz hell yea go 38!!
this and the other interview on this same show where the best i’ve heard from him
He is maturing, awesome interview
HD38 didn't lose 1 point the entire MX season up to him winning the championship!!! 💪🤘
How in the hell did you get this interview pretty impressive
Because haiden hates the big fat boy on pulp,so he does this to piss humpty Dumpty off
He’s done it with the same guest before and this and the other one where the two best interviews i’ve heard from haiden
What an incredible young man.
Great interview guys. Try offering Hayden a few million bucks to win Nations.
All of a sudden he’s in. And will prolly win.
Of course he’s not gonna do it for chump change. Young dudes a moto superstar.
everyone saying the kid is growing up and maturing because of this interview, but the truth is the kid has been this mature for years now. Go watch his interview on Gypsy Tales from a few years back before he turned pro, and you will see not much difference.
Vialle killed it last year on a 250
Not sure if Hayden has the same mentality as pastrana over jumping the last jump on a 125 to win a mxon race. Then again? He may hand bigger and better things in front of him
Last time i heard him talk about it he said he would like to do it but he also sounded like its not really entirely up to him to decide. Its most likely up to STAR to decide if they are going or not. To be fair Star might somewhat be more open to it comapared to like Monster Energy Kawasaki who doesn`t want to hear anything about MXON.
The decision is between Doctors and Star management, going to MXoN would push his surgery to remove hardware from wrist 2 weeks which would impact his SX preseason prep
@@cash3015he is afraid to loose!😁

@@LeifTriumph Racing SMX is his _job._ You understand what a job is, right? The Supercross series is way more important to these teams than a pageant race. If he wasn't racing because he was afraid to lose then why does that not stop him from racing every weekend?

Send Hymas, they're not sending Deegs.
Team egos hold them back.
Or the fact that the MXoN is a meaningless pageant race and they're a race team more concerned with the series they're actually competing it.
@alondite215 F@ck that! What an awesome opportunity to represent your country with competitors across the globe. How does that not sound awesome? 🤔
@@panic-revv85Haiden is focused on his goals, he has a lot of years left where he can go rep his country and I’m positive he will. He is making choices for the long haul and putting in his time and being smart. He wants to win a 250 supercross title before he moves to 450. I respect him for making a choice for his career rather than chasing an accolade so early on. He has time to go back to mxon. Lots of time. Way to be Champ.
@Ibsmokin way to be champ? Ok... star isn't sending one rider. If tomac would have wanted to go they would have sent both of them. The kid also has hardware scheduled to be removed from his wrist, and that's minimal recovery time. He clearly wanted to go but was told he had to stay back. The information is out there, and my prediction was right. They sent Hymas.
@@panic-revv85 thanks for telling me everything I already knew. Why tf would they send Tomac? Lol Like you even have a clue as to the real reason Star doesn’t want to go. Maybe they just don’t gaf about Nations 🤷♂️.

Brian knows there are fast kids from other countries that we don't hear about, why chance Haiden losing. Nothing to gain.
No point putting his SX season at risk by delaying his Surgery weeks...Kid has plenty of years he can go.
Apparently not LOL. Too many excuses of why not to do it and not any work on how to. Blatantly obvious that there is not a strong desire from rider or team to do MXoN
He speaks like Brian did at that age but with more testosterone 🤣
They should do MxOn every 3-4 years
Star just want loads of money for there riders to go and race it's little bit of a joke tbf keegan and Ansty both want to race but star making it impossible for them to go f star
Maybe the top 3 US riders in SMX each year should be obligated to ride the MXoN the following year? 🤓
maybe but then what would happen if one or all get injured
@@doglover136_ It would default to the next top US finisher.
There's literally nothing in it for them but bragging rights. Way more to lose, including $10s of thousands out of their personal bank account to even get over there to compete. Not worth it. AMA either needs to step up and cover these guys in full, or MXGP promoters... either way it's BS for the riders. Especially having to deal with all the fairweather fans that relentlessly shit on them if they don't win (which the US has not done much of this decade).
@@wakeboarder028 I think the Deegans would be the only people to possibly make money with youtube and all the other social platforms
@@doglover136_ You're probably right, but they still have to spend a lot of money to make any potential money, but it has mostly drawbacks for his early career. He needs to get surgery and heal, in order to compete at the highest level for SX which will be very tough next year. He needs that title to secure a good 450 contract later on.
He's SAID HES NOT DOING IT! How many times y'all going to keep pushing it? Kid has to get hardware out of his hand

What a dork
I think he says a lot of things he has no intentions of doing. Dude talks to much really liked the kid at first but his mouth this year and two years of avoiding MXON in a row have soured me of him.
Think it's mostly old heads that care about MXoN nowadays. US has barely won any this decade and every rider that goes over gets shit on relentlessly after having dropped 10s of thousands of their personal money to compete in the event. What exactly is the motivation for them to go? Especially if it will impact their actual job which is to race the US series? I don't blame any of them for skipping. Eli skipped many years.
@@wakeboarder028 kawi forced him to skip he went everytime he was able to go. Every great rider in our sport has made it a point to go and anytime we have we always win. It’s dumb it cost them money Upfront should pay them that’s a different story but it’s literally our Olympics. And you can’t be a great if you didn’t go and win it.
@@wakeboarder028 I think it’s only kids with short attention spans and memories that think it’s cool for Deegan to run his mouth about him “representing” America in the US outdoor series only to turn down his actual chance to represent America on the world stage.
@@Joe-pg3kg Honestly I am unbothered by it. I see the circus that is the MXoN for what it is... a huge cash grab for the promoter, Youthstream. If it wasn't there would be incentives in place for teams to be able to show up.
Haiden really should take care of his injuries to have a long career. I think Hymas should sit out too and get his knee fixed. This 'bragging rights' race isn't worth damaging their career over. Go when healthy and when it won't impact their real job!
Our riders get very little support compared to Olympic athletes regardless of whether this is the olympic race of our sport. They're not going to get talked about on the news. Barely anyone will ever hear of this event. Not trying to be a downer just looking at the reality of it. I think it's gross the hate that "fans" express daily online to these super athletes who are risking their lives for our entertainment. I just hope they can all stay healthy and make it to racing retirement with their bodies intact!!
He also preaches he’s proud to be an American. We all know if deegan wants to go star will make it happen. He just doesn’t want to. 2 years in a row he’s said no but they cover it up with bs

Huh? - ML
4:52 this guy doesn't even know what the race is called?! He said mxDn... LMFFFAAAOOO
It's referred to by both acronyms. MXdN is the original... MX des Nations. In the States we refer to it as MXoN or MX of Nations.
@@wakeboarder028 The event's name has been officially anglicised (as Motocross of Nations "MXoN") since 2004, when Youthstream was awarded promotional rights for the World Motocross Grand Prix.
Yah, having this conversation with someone else just now. Calling it the MXdN is like calling South East America the Confederacy... 😉

Middle finger to the stars and bars two yrs in a row. Kid is an american poser and should never be allowed on the team in future. Let him ride for puerto rico.
What a dumb statement....PR is American territory... Also.. why does he need to prove sh*t to you ??
You just don't get it do you. If he does Mxon he would have to wait and get his hardware removed from his wrist afterwards and that would not allow him to prep properly for SX so not going is the right decision. The AMA and others clearly do not have his best interest in mind by pressuring him on going. As much as I want him to do it i can wait a year.
