Some of the best tuts on this subject I've ever seen. Pacing is right, fluff minimal but not boring, NO SKIPPED STEPS, etc. Easy to build off of earlier examples too.
for people in 2023 please know 'capture attribute' isnt there anymore, instead use 'Sample Nearest Surface'
the fact that you explain why something works or does not is in itself priceless. great tutorial.
DUDE!!! you are awesome at explaining this so simply. I appreciate you. Thank you so much. Been trying to learn geo nodes forever never been so easy
Thanks for doing this properly! Not just giving a recipe to produce something but explaining why each node is used and what it does, so people can learn how to make something themselves and not just use your recipe to make the exact same geometry.
Much love for you, man; thanks for everything you do for the community. 🙏🏾
This video is next level ! What a great way to explain everything ! Maybe a bit complex for beginners, but then maybe geometry nodes are just not for complete beginner anyway. Thanks Joey !
Hey! Im very happy that other people are finding this video to be precise, but I really, really struggled to follow along. It would be a huge help of instead of saying 'plug this in here' or 'just drop that here' if you were to say *where* it's being droppped. I don't have access to a large screen, and it can be v hard to read in all the visual noise where things are supposed to go. Thanks again for the tutorial!
Great explanation!!! I've been using Geo Nodes for awhile but I haven't understood some of these basic concepts so well before. Thank you!
I think this is the best introduction on geo nodes I've watched so far. Great video.
this is the most valuable video i've watched on geometry nodes. Thank you so much!
Your explanations are so precise, simple and useful at the same time.
You find so? "Select the cone"...and it jumps to the World Origin. How TF did that happen? He never said anything about moving the object to the WO with "Alt G". So he lost me right there for quite a long time.
@@caribbeanchildI will say, I was confused, but I just changed it to be at the world origin. I think you kinda have to ignore that, and just do what it did 🤷
another great tutorial. you have a talent for explaining things + the structuring is pristine. helped me so much, thx
Big support for the channel and keep on making awesome content and guides and giveaways in the future as well. Worked for me
This was super helpful. I just started with blender and I wanted to learn how all the generator things worked so learning about the geo nodes was perfect.
dude please keep making these! you are my favourite teacher. Making it so simple!!!
Most exhaustive explanation of Geo nodes I ve seen. I go back to that video often.
This is humbling. Loved it. looking forward for more.
Phenomenal video and explanation. Well done!
This video was so incredibly useful, thank you very much!
The best series I have ever watched till now
You are like the genius dude in the class who knows everything and always likes to help everyone out.
i'm blown away, thank you for making this
You are great at teaching this stuff man. Thank you so much for making these videos. Just came across your channel trying to learn geo nodes and you've definitely got my sub. Keep it up. please lol
Explaining is hard, and you're very good at it.
Great job!
You really explain well, and make us understand how and why, you are a great teacher !
What a great video, helps A LOT in the beginning.
basics it's encouraging to learn a little bit more! Well done!
these tuts are great, thank you so much !
dude, your channel is a gold mine!
How did I not found you earlier!? Awesome channel, you are geonodes Master!!
THANK YOU!!!! you made very clear the 'Nodes Philosophy'
Great overall tutorial, I have only been using blender for about a month, so I got lost in the next to last segment when he was covering shading, but overall I learned a lot!
Super helpful, thanks very much
I really appreciate you and your videos bro!
How did I not know you could drag a copy straight out of the outliner into the viewport?? Thanks for this video, 100% gold
Thankyou so much love from India 🇮🇳❤️
merci beaucoup pour ce super tuto
Very nice. I found some new features.
Best tutorial!!! Thank you!
Super Tutorial. I love it.
Thank you so much this helped a lot!!!! You saved my life
You're amazing and you've got a new subscriber
please keep doing this ... many thanks
Damn.. can't appreciate enough. You are a great teacher sir
Thanks for the tutorial
Very informative and thank you! Just subbed :)
Very good explanations, thanks for the video i got A lot from it :) Subed and liked :)
Thank you
I like your tutorials Very much
Amazing
great tutorial, keep working please!
Those subtle details like suddenly operating in radians instead of degrees is such a curveball. 17:40
Yeah, it's a quirk that takes getting used to
At 17:53 There is faster way: To rotate 45 degree, just type #radians(45)
oh my god so good
41:00 On 4.0.1 for some reason 2 Nodegroups acted like 3. And 3 on my side acted like 7 on your side, not rendering and lagging. Not sure if I connected something wrong but Realize instances solves the issue and less nodes for me anyway I guess
Yeah it changes when reconnect Points and Instances in the Nodegroups in different ways but I don't understand it
lovely video with in depth explanation but 1 question. How does one do the importings
33:21 can yo drive animation whithin the instance realized? Such as Action strips or shape keys or is there another way?
Super 💪💪💪💪
I LOVE YOU
@32:35 - just wanted to add a note that I think this piece was incorrect. The offset is gonna be Z only no matter what as the X and Y are explicitly set 0 (no offset). I do see though why realize instances was needed (rotation/scale). This is something I believe a "non geonodes 'instance' allows maybe, but not a geonodes instance - not sure? I would think an instance would allow rotation and scaling, but it's clear to see that they aren't affecting it before the realize instances - but also not related to the noise texture. Maybe position is the only thing a geonodes instance carries at this point? not sure
Great video -I'm wondering that now Blender 4.0.2 is out if some major changes has taken place in the GN.. some changes has for sure taken place.
Afaik everything in this video works still
Long but informative.
blender yes 👍
I’m overwheld it’s soooo much
Cant seem to add vertex groups into the density factor. the input attribute toggle has no drop down that I can see. im using 4.0 so dont know if there was a change, great tutorial so far
figured it out, the blank space was the drop down menu. Honestly these tutorials are so good they are giving me a huge confidence boost about learning curve. thank you so much my guy
🧡
It's not hard to see that you put a lot of effort to explain things to detail. I loved to beginning where you took some time to explain instancing without geo nodes, I was not aware of that.
im trying to do the fractal at the end, but when i turn the Instance to Points node into a group, i don't have the "Instances" input inside the group. This causes the whole thing to not work. Am i doing something wrong or did a blender update cause this to no longer work?
may have to go another route.
🤯
what if i wanna save a project but i use free trial? can soone help
38:00 the heck mate! wow!
can somebody tell me how to make instances appear in a random order during animation? So I have 50 insances on 50 points but I dont want them to be here all the time, I want them to appear in random order at some point. Cant figure it out :/
If I try to reproduce the fractal without first scaling down de scale to .5 and rescaling the elements by 2 with scale elements it doesn't seem to work. Anyone knows why ?
It also needs to be exactly .5 and 2 and not 1/3 and 3. That doesn't work well
Fractal shape at the end no longer works in Blender 4
Regardless of how important the information is
Is there a way to add geometry node created shapes to a collection?
If you realize the instances, you can right click on the object and convert it to a mesh. Then you can save it or alter it like any other mesh.
Right after you create the group and start removing the unneeded items from the input, in current Blender I don't have "Instance" like you (one of the three you left), and it immediately breaks everything. Any idea how to work around this?
newer Blender eliminates the input if you instance onto itself. you need to create the node group first so Points and Instance show up. then tab out, then plug the nodes in like the video shows.
around 24:49, you kinda rushed past how you disabled the preview node mode for Distribute Points on Faces... I couldn't figure out how to get back to seeing the instanced models :/
I used shift alt left click to connect the node all the way to the right. It says the keys in the corner
I'm brazilian, my english is not good at all, but I understood
If u want to learn at least something skip to 37 min. There is no chance to rememver even 1% before , so thats a summary: in blender many nodes and u can join them with many ways
Great Video! - How to add a BEVEL to the INSTANCES of all the triangle pyramid?
You could try putting a bevel modifier after the geometry nodes modifier
@@JoeyCarlino Using the Cone example (at the end of your vid) , so the geometry nodes modifier is not connected. Also, only found "Bevel" in the Shading menu, not Geometry Nodes Menu.
There is a bevel modifier, not a node.
docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/modeling/modifiers/generate/bevel.html
@@JoeyCarlino I learned something today: DO NOT accidentally select the "plane" and do all the steps in the 37:32 - Fractal Shape tutorial then try to add a bevel. Also Mesh to Points (creates a single shape) Bevel works as expected, Once Mesh to instance is connected, the Bevel stops working.
LMFAO good one
It's not really that confusing it just looks like that, because of all the many buttons.
in random transform you suddently had a different setup and it looked different
Can you please redo this tutorial for Blender 3.2? 🥲
Everything should still work the same

14:03 "Hopefully that makes sense..." No.. it doesnt.

You look at the comnt and is like "that's a relatable comnt" you look at the replies and lost hope in humanity
i hate it. it’s like asmr
this tutorial felt very scatter brained and all over the place, not cohesive
Sounds like you had a hard time
This is seriously convoluted. It seems to have no purpose. It would have been nice to have a known outcome. It's just nodes being plugged in and we have no idea where it's going. I'm out.
