70 % of Jackson County, KY lost power during the recent Ice Storm. While things have improved many still don't have power or water. The Kentucky National Guard has been called in to assist with delivery food items, heat supplies and checking on shuts in.
Video shows - Cars off Roads, Guardsmen giving food, Trucks driving insane hill to deliver propane to resident, putting snow chains on, Power crews, snapped limb, ice on power lines and very nasty roads

I live in Jackson Co. So proud of our community! Emergency Services, lineman and countless others who went so far above and beyond to make sure we had our power restored and so much more!! We are grateful beyond words❤

Hope people gets also their cell phones and land line phones back on and get food to them .
People can buy a solar powered radio that you can plug in a cell phone on Amazon etc..

People that are commenting rude or mean things about these people that are helping the ones in need. You wouldn't last 24hrs out here living in this situation or trying to work. I say most of you wouldn't know what a days work is. These people are hard working and caring. A lot of people are still without electricity. I wish that the ones that have nothing nice to say had to live just week like we the people on 2004!

I live off a small county road outside of mckee...We were stuck home for 5 days. Couldnt drive on the road and didnt have power during. Was thankful for our wood stove and propane heaters. Was definitely a winter to remember.
I live on this road highway 2004 It's been definitely been a rough 6 days power just got my water thawed out today power still out tho but i thank the Lord for the man and women of service and a good community thank you for your service

Lived in Blueridge mountains in Va as a kid. Little bit different than Texas. We would get ice storms in winter that would leave inches of ice on the powerlines and up to 2 to 3 feet of snow during bad storms. Roads are steep and hilly and can be very dangerous. Last one we went through was early spring 1972, like sometime in March I think. Up to 3 feet of snow, drifts up t o 6 feet. We lived 1 and a half miles down a private road on a mountaintop. We had a tractor with a blade but it was still no good in such deep snow. Took my dad days to dig us out to the county road. Took the 7 days before the power came back on. My parents were prepared. We had a fireplace (woodstove would have been more practical) and my dad kept it going the whole time. Melted snow to flush the toilet after the water we stored in the bathtub to do that ran out. We didn't have a generator but that would have been nice, they are pretty cheap these days. We survived but winters there can b e tough.

I wonder how much water melt-off affects the tributaries to the Mississippi River? The last time it flooded the basin area was due to the heavy snow fall in the Northern tributaries but now we see this mass effect of water fuel from this area.
