Had they stopped the games, most of this community, while being sad, would go back to their daily lives. Some giving little thought to Lazar and his family. With the games continuing, the community is watching and I would guarantee everyone has Lazar and his family at the front of their minds. People then continue to give to the go fund me, prayers, and positive energy to that family and all the athletes. Me and my family will watch these games, cheer for the athletes, pray for all of them Including the games team, pray for the Family, donate to the funds all while Lazar is at the front of our minds. Fitness is therapy for a lot of us just like music or church is for others.

The games should have been stopped and had a multi day tribute to Lazar and his family. The tribute was a joke and slap in to the face to Lazar and his family. Crossfit deserves to get sued and be held liable. Castro (former navy seal) should have enough common sense to know that you don't do a swim after a run, you do the swim first. Anyone with common sense knows that. . If you cramp while running, you stop. If you cramp while swimming you may just die. The two lifeguards on paddleboards that were just 10 meters apart from Lazar were more concerned about watching the winners cross the line than being concerned about those in the water. To top it off, the water was at 87 degrees, two degrees warmer than most sanctioned swim events allow for. Castro and Crossfit need to be held criminally liable for what happened. It's apparent that Crossfit doesn't care about its athletes as Fraser almost drowned two years ago. Not nearly enough lifeguards in hte water. This is a tragedy that never should have happened and Crossfit as a corporation needs to suffer for this not only financially but criminally as well. .

The past events have been terrible, and Luka’s recent words in his IG post, after having gone through the initial shock phase in his grief, make it clear that the family is devastated not only by the tragedy itself but also by how it could have been avoided and wasn’t. In my head, I will always remember having visualized such a misfortune in a livestream. In the head of your leader, the weight of an inescapable responsibility must resonate eternally. RIP Lazar.

It was plenty long enough. Were you at the games? They had so many moments throughout the entire weekend that focused on him. It was never glossed over. They prayed over his family and the community one morning before the events began. Another moment of silence. A beautiful tribute at the end that was at *least* 5-10 minutes of silence where each athlete laid down a rose. They interviewed the athletes who won and almost always led with how difficult the weekend has been. Lazar wasn't forgotten nor ignored. He was honored the *entire weekend*. Wondering if you weren't there.

Are the tests still complete enough to truly crown the fittest?
These changes you are making such as taking out 45 ring muscle ups & also 10 Rope climb is likely majorly impacting the outcome. Making it less beneficial for lighter/gymnastics-orientated/pulling preferred athletes. For example Ricky Garard would have placed much better in that midline workout had there been the original amount of Rope Climbs. He also would have done well in the Ring Muscle up workout. I hope you try and include another workout or do something to make up for the tests that are now impacted / missing so you get a true test that is balanced.

Thanks Dave. I can say for myself I was torn on Thursday of what should happen.. throughout the day hearing other people’s opinions changed mine. If you just ended the games on Thursday this would have been a terrible weekend with the most tragic event. Although still a tragic event, I think now we can have some great memories attached to this weekend. I’m having a great time and I’m thankful for the decision to move forward.

LAZARS Family will own CF. As they say a day of reckoning will come for CF and D. Castro in court. Hope ur safety protocol for the games was what u hoped for. But not really rt DC.

If Farrington Field is used in the future Both Gates to allow us to get in should be utilized. We stood in line for over an hour and missed the Team event. The concern of them take water from us that we bought onsite and searching bags was one reason entry was so slow. At one point they just opened another gate and let us walk on in. I understand their protocols maybe next year there can be some kind of agreement. I was actually made to throw my snacks away that I bought from Dickies when I entered Vendor Village.

  • @cobrastrichzero

This is all well and good and appreciated. But assuming what we've heard about the lifeguards' response is true, assuming what we've heard about the athletes raising concerns about the open water swim is true, there is a deeper cultural issue to address. I'm all about pushing athletes to ridiculous limits, but take your pick of extreme sport: to a T they meet increased risk with increased safety protocols. Red Bull Cliff Diving, for example, has multiple spotters in the water for a single diver. F1 crashes are ironically some of the safest you could hope to be in. The spectacle need not suffer to take care of your athletes.
Anyhoo, I hope this is the sort of thing you're all looking at internally. If this death was over determined by having improper procedures in place, based on this video, I'm hopeful you will honor Lazar by honestly fixing that moving forward.

Dave, you are doing incredible with what you’ve been given. You can’t and will never make everyone happy and you should never strive for that as it just disappoints. People are forgetting there are thousands of people who rely on this to be able to pay their bills. CF isn’t the NFL or other very rich sports and you have to do what is right for those who put all they have to be here this weekend. Thank you for being so transparent during this very difficult situation. 💙💙
